It honestly doesn’t matter whether the girl falls or not. The girl decided to spend time literally traumatizing someone else day in and day out. If that traumatized person hesitates in a moment where they’re given the option to save their abuser, I couldn’t really blame them. No one could truly understand being in a situation like that unless they were actually in it.

This girl has always bullied her and now her brain is trying to make a choice based not only on morals but logic. But yes, regardless, it would weigh a heavy price considering she would probably watch her fall to her death.
So in my opinion, I don't think she let her fall. I believe she did just think about letting her fall , thinking of she deserved it. But in the end it seems like she snaps out of it (hence the gasp and eye shrinking) and goes to save her

Telling her to let her fall, saying she deserved it. But once the bully cries out when she's about to fall she snaps out of it and decides to save her. It isn’t the girl’s duty to save the girl. Most “magical girls” don’t get paid and she is sacrificing her time to be a hero. She is already taking responsibility of her powers by not punishing her bully in school, but you guys are requiring her to save someone that tormented her. Like LOOK at her: 0:53. A lot of y’all are saying you wouldn’t have let her fall if you were the magical girl, but all of you haven’t been in the same situation. I’m not saying not rescuing her is the right option, but I’m saying the magical girl shouldn’t be blamed for letting her fall. If she did rescue her though, that deserves a lot of praise. Heroes get criticism easily for making mistakes because they’re “the ones that hold power”, when a lot of the time, they hold no social power at all. Normal people can give a lot of criticism without much thought because they know that they aren’t responsible for lives, so whatever they say, they say it lightly. But that magical girl exists because she can save herself AND others while some people can only save themselves or aren’t even able to that. She has to live with the guilt as well as her responsibilities of having great physical power and criticism, not to mention sacrificing her time. I really feel bad for her, and I think you should have more compassion for her instead of judging her choices because this applies to real life as well. Y’all should know how sick utilitarianism can be sometimes.

Amazing video! I absolutely love the animation style and it’s colours, they really set the mood well. I also like how the story sparks a discussion on the basis of morality. Warning: Long stupid post below that I just felt the need to write Morality is a tricky thing, it differs for each person in different scenarios. There are two victims in this video, one is a person who can’t stand up for herself (lack of confidence, it’s hard being confident in this situation especially if the bully has a posse with her), the other is a bully who’s on the verge of death. Death is seen as morally wrong, yes, but it begs the question, are YOU really responsible for the lives of others? Should every life be saved? For every death, is it your fault? The problem this animation poses is that the girl (a magical hero) goes through a lot of trauma and has a chance to save or leave the cause of their trauma to die. They pose a lot of scenarios that may potentially happen. A. She saves the bully. Said bully will be thankful but that doesn’t mean she’ll change. The bully victim may have to suffer through her abuse. To all those belittling the victim by saying she could just “stand up” if she wanted to, it’s extremely hard when you’re the one being bullied, literally no one will help (even if they wanted to) and you feel like you’re alone and try to put up with it because who knows how worse they’re gonna get if you stood up to the bully. This could potentially lead to the magical girl’s death via suicide which could mean loss of her life and civilians won’t be saved too. Will the bully feel sorry. It’s too late at this point. B. She saves the bully and she changes her ways. Who knows what’s the story behind the girl. Maybe she has a rough family life and throws all her urges on the girl. Maybe the magical girl will reveal who she really is and she’ll change her ways? This is often the argument for deciding to help people - second chances are given to everyone, and killing people is wrong. C. She lets the girl die and be able to get a more peaceful life and regrets it. D. Let’s the girl die, regrets nothing, has a more freer life, potentially save a lot of bully victims from her hands. Dead girl’s family is either happy or mourning for their lost daughter. But if it’s a family mourning for their daughter and proves to be morally good people, does that really make her morally good if she’s bullying someone to a bad extent while living a good life? Another question it asks is should the girl, a magical hero who’s saved countless of people but herself, be judged when not helping a girl who bullied her for a long time to the point she’s traumatised and compelled to not lend a helping hand? You can argue yes because she’s a magical hero, she needs to save people. So then, what if there’s a dilemma where it’s between her life or another who is responsible for traumatising her and there is no other choice (ie magic won’t help)? Should she sacrifice herself or the bully? There is no right answer. We often tell people to do something we consider “morally right” but will it benefit the person we’re scolding? We usually are concerned with the future but rarely the present. It’s easy for the observer to call out the decider. I don’t think what this girl did is morally right, but I believe if I was in her shoes where the decision is time-limited, I would have not moved due to the temptation of freedom, making the same decision as her.

Yes this! This is a big moral dilemma to think over, much less as a snap decision. In the clip, the magical girl is so clearly just paralyzed by the situation. She could very well intend to save everyone, but seeing her bully be the one to save threw her a big enough mental block that she couldn't work past it in time. I see a lot of comments calling this girl reprehensible for "choosing" for her to die and basically killing her. But she has no resentment in her eyes, she doesn't turn away. She's clearly snapped out of the state she's in by what seems to be the scream of the girl falling to her death- she had made no decision here, she was thrust into a state of heavy dissociation by the heavy emotional stress caused by this situation.

The problem is that the girl wasn't the only one bullying her. She was just the ring leader, so there's no guarantee that her bully problems would be solved by letting her die and since she's in her magical girl form, even if she does save the bully, the bully probably won't recognize her as the girl she's been bullying, so she's damned regardless and might as well go save her just so she doesn't have the death of a person who might not be totally innocent but probably still didn't deserve to die on her conscience.

saving the person who has emotionally, psychologically and physically crushed you only happens in anime. in reality, it's foolish to rescue someone whom, not only won't know you were the one who saved them, but also will bully you again after the rescue.
Moral of the story: Never bully someone or they'll turn out to be a magical girl no matter the circumstances and let you fall off a cliff due to a giant monster a rampaging around your town.
Never treat someone in a bad way when you don't know the future. You never know if that person's going to be in a position to change your life for the better or the worse one day, or be the only you can rely on...or maybe not so much anymore.

I was under the impression that the ending of her just sitting at her desk meant all the rest was just her imagination, like, "They'd be sorry if I were a magical girl and a giant cat attacked the city. 자동반사 PTSD 심장이 뛰는 것도 불안에서 오는 긴장감. 해당 인물을 보자, 떠오른 속이썩는 기억. 그로인해 구해야하는 상황에서 멈칫. 시간이 끌리고.. 동공이 커진점은 방관하면 가해로부터 자유롭지 않을까 란 찰나의순간 계산까지 다 된것. 마법소녀가 선의로 일반대중을 구하는 것과 별개로 마법소녀는 누가 구하고 누구에게 기대나 그러니 때론 선탠적 정의도 용서받아 마땅해
It comes down to whether it's ok for the magical girl to judge whether someone deserves to be saved or not. Like if it was let's say a fireman, and a person-who-bullied-him's house was on fire, and he chose to just watch, then who's right or wrong.
I don’t believe she deserved to fall. She was just a kid, if she hadn’t fallen she would’ve had her whole life to change and mature. Most people aren’t the same as they were 7-5 yrs ago. :(
Things like bullying can lead people to kill them selves when they can’t handle it anymore. For her it might have been a choice of “should she die, or me?” And those choices are extremely hard. Even if we know that it’s the right thing to help people even if they have hurt us. It’s far too difficult to know if you are able to actually reach out a hand towards them when they need that help. Because that trauma they have inflicted on us, can make us unable to move. Is it cruel and terrible for her to let her fall then? Well yes if you only look at it from one point ot view. But if you see it from the view of a poor girl suffering from tremendous trauma that was unable to help even if she knew what she had to do, then it suddenly doesn’t look so black and white anymore.
Some of these comments... seriously if you guys seriously are relating to this fiction animation and say she deserves it, please reconsider that: somebody dying when you could save them could haunt you for years, if not your whole life while school bullying is a terrible thing to deal with (that happens/happened to many of us), it's only temporary and many of these mental scars you have can still be healed don't follow the school shooter logic and move on, you're better than that :))

Normal people can give a lot of criticism without much thought because they know that they aren’t responsible for lives, so whatever they say, they say it lightly. But that magical girl exists because she can save herself AND others while some people can only save themselves or aren’t even able to that. She has to live with the guilt as well as her responsibilities of having great physical power and criticism, not to mention sacrificing her time. I really feel bad for her, and I think you should have more compassion for her instead of judging her choices because this applies to real life as well. Y’all should know how sick utilitarianism can be sometimes.

Warning: Long stupid post below that I just felt the need to write
Morality is a tricky thing, it differs for each person in different scenarios. There are two victims in this video, one is a person who can’t stand up for herself (lack of confidence, it’s hard being confident in this situation especially if the bully has a posse with her), the other is a bully who’s on the verge of death.
Death is seen as morally wrong, yes, but it begs the question, are YOU really responsible for the lives of others? Should every life be saved? For every death, is it your fault?
The problem this animation poses is that the girl (a magical hero) goes through a lot of trauma and has a chance to save or leave the cause of their trauma to die. They pose a lot of scenarios that may potentially happen.
A. She saves the bully. Said bully will be thankful but that doesn’t mean she’ll change. The bully victim may have to suffer through her abuse. To all those belittling the victim by saying she could just “stand up” if she wanted to, it’s extremely hard when you’re the one being bullied, literally no one will help (even if they wanted to) and you feel like you’re alone and try to put up with it because who knows how worse they’re gonna get if you stood up to the bully. This could potentially lead to the magical girl’s death via suicide which could mean loss of her life and civilians won’t be saved too. Will the bully feel sorry. It’s too late at this point.
B. She saves the bully and she changes her ways. Who knows what’s the story behind the girl. Maybe she has a rough family life and throws all her urges on the girl. Maybe the magical girl will reveal who she really is and she’ll change her ways? This is often the argument for deciding to help people - second chances are given to everyone, and killing people is wrong.
C. She lets the girl die and be able to get a more peaceful life and regrets it.
D. Let’s the girl die, regrets nothing, has a more freer life, potentially save a lot of bully victims from her hands. Dead girl’s family is either happy or mourning for their lost daughter. But if it’s a family mourning for their daughter and proves to be morally good people, does that really make her morally good if she’s bullying someone to a bad extent while living a good life?
Another question it asks is should the girl, a magical hero who’s saved countless of people but herself, be judged when not helping a girl who bullied her for a long time to the point she’s traumatised and compelled to not lend a helping hand? You can argue yes because she’s a magical hero, she needs to save people. So then, what if there’s a dilemma where it’s between her life or another who is responsible for traumatising her and there is no other choice (ie magic won’t help)? Should she sacrifice herself or the bully? There is no right answer.
We often tell people to do something we consider “morally right” but will it benefit the person we’re scolding? We usually are concerned with the future but rarely the present. It’s easy for the observer to call out the decider.
I don’t think what this girl did is morally right, but I believe if I was in her shoes where the decision is time-limited, I would have not moved due to the temptation of freedom, making the same decision as her.
Yep. To save or not to save both choices are wrong and right at the same time. As you said... by not helping it makes me the bad guy but who cares... they're mean to me, and it's not like it turns me evil if I'm still kind to everyone else and also it helps prevent future victims
Yes this! This is a big moral dilemma to think over, much less as a snap decision. In the clip, the magical girl is so clearly just paralyzed by the situation. She could very well intend to save everyone, but seeing her bully be the one to save threw her a big enough mental block that she couldn't work past it in time. I see a lot of comments calling this girl reprehensible for "choosing" for her to die and basically killing her. But she has no resentment in her eyes, she doesn't turn away. She's clearly snapped out of the state she's in by what seems to be the scream of the girl falling to her death- she had made no decision here, she was thrust into a state of heavy dissociation by the heavy emotional stress caused by this situation.

The problem is that the girl wasn't the only one bullying her. She was just the ring leader, so there's no guarantee that her bully problems would be solved by letting her die and since she's in her magical girl form, even if she does save the bully, the bully probably won't recognize her as the girl she's been bullying, so she's damned regardless and might as well go save her just so she doesn't have the death of a person who might not be totally innocent but probably still didn't deserve to die on her conscience.

I thought this was going to be cliche but I'm quite pleasantly surprised it wasn't. I'm happy the animation captured an imperfect human.
Moral of the story: Never bully someone or they'll turn out to be a magical girl no matter the circumstances and let you fall off a cliff due to a giant monster a rampaging around your town.
Never treat someone in a bad way when you don't know the future. You never know if that person's going to be in a position to change your life for the better or the worse one day, or be the only you can rely on...or maybe not so much anymore.

It seems I have a different interpretation from most... I was under the impression that the ending of her just sitting at her desk meant all the rest was just her imagination, like, "They'd be sorry if I were a magical girl and a giant cat attacked the city. And when my bully was falling off a cliff, I'd wait until the last moment to decide whether or not to save her. That'd show them!"
Like one of the sayings go “what if the person you once bullied became the only doctor who could save your life?” By that I mean pretty much whatever you may do to someone in the past like treat them badly they won’t do any favours for you.
구할지 말지 결말만을 기대했지만 구할지 말지 고뇌하는 주인공의 심리를 관찰하는 것도 나쁘지 않네요.

I don’t believe she deserved to fall. She was just a kid, if she hadn’t fallen she would’ve had her whole life to change and mature. Most people aren’t the same as they were 7-5 yrs ago. :(
Things like bullying can lead people to kill them selves when they can’t handle it anymore. For her it might have been a choice of “should she die, or me?” And those choices are extremely hard. Even if we know that it’s the right thing to help people even if they have hurt us. It’s far too difficult to know if you are able to actually reach out a hand towards them when they need that help. Because that trauma they have inflicted on us, can make us unable to move. Is it cruel and terrible for her to let her fall then? Well yes if you only look at it from one point ot view. But if you see it from the view of a poor girl suffering from tremendous trauma that was unable to help even if she knew what she had to do, then it suddenly doesn’t look so black and white anymore.

while school bullying is a terrible thing to deal with (that happens/happened to many of us), it's only temporary and many of these mental scars you have can still be healed
