    One of the things I really like about your videos, is you show exactly how to do these automation setups, going through it step-by-step and listing the steps on the screen. This way, people can do a screen save to save the steps to be able to go back and look over steps in the future. Keep up the great videos showcasing the steps needed to make them work.

    I've found this method doesn't capture the correct colors. They're just a bit off and I have to go in and manually change them -- which is difficult to get the right colors.

      Thanks! It's an interesting thing. Other manufacturers have managed integrate unique features into HomeKit, but Hue doesn't seem to be that interested in it.

      @@myHomeKithome I could see each thinking they have the chance to become the 'first touch' for connected light actions so they want to keep the walls up. But the customers lose that game.

  • @andythefork

    So just to confirm, this will only carry over static color/brightness values and not trigger animated lighting scenes from Hue, correct?

    • @myHomeKithome
      @myHomeKithome  2 года назад +1

      If the scenes are generated using Hue Labs, then I don't believe they will carry over. I know its possible since other manufacturers have implmented this, but since Hue Labs features are beta, they don't transfer.

    • @myHomeKithome
      @myHomeKithome  2 года назад

      Woah! I haven't experienced this. I imagine this is just a bad translation between the two apps. Does it happen with all scenes that you try to transfer?

      Unfortunately this is a fairly common issue. Hue updated their app at some point and broke the reliability of this. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sorry I don't have better news, but thanks for watching!

    Do you know how to choose a custom scene for the timer in the Hue app? I only see where to select the room, but not the scene.

    • @myHomeKithome
      @myHomeKithome  2 года назад

      Great question! I just tried it and once you select the room and tap next, you’ll tap on the room again and the Apple ask you what you want to do with the lights. It will give you a variety of options from dimming and brightening the lights and you also have the option of choosing “my scenes “. Hope you found this helpful. Thanks for watching!

    Whenever I set this up and use the scene the colors aren’t correct. When I set the scene I have the lights already loaded from the hue app. And when I click test this scene it works. But if I change the colors and go back to the scene in HomeKit they aren’t right. It does change them from what they were on, just doesn’t change them to the correct colors set up in the scene

    How do you setup the same scene "Motown"" for example so that it works in more than one room. I don't mean at the same time, I mean so that I can go into the Kitchen as request Motown in there (just for that room) and then I can go into the Living Room and use the same command. As I understand it Siri scenes are linked to a room and you can't have duplicate scene names for multiple rooms ?

    • @myHomeKithome
      @myHomeKithome  2 года назад +1

      You’re right and that’s a thinker! Maybe you could try creating scenes with slightly different names? I’ll have to give that one some more thought…

    • @dindu42
      @dindu42 2 года назад

      @@myHomeKithome I imagine you have to combine the room name with the effect you want but it becomes a bit cumbersome.

    • @sandman4593
      @sandman4593 Год назад

      It’s the first time I try to pare the two apps. The Hue app works just fine, all the lights are visible and they all work, Both HomeKit and Phillips hue are up to date. In the Hue app when I try to pair it to HomeKit, my home name from the home kit app is visible, but when I press pair it tells me ti press the Button in the bridge to pair but nothing heappens when I do so. In the other hand if I try to pair them through HomeKit I scan the Code from the back of the bridge and it just keeps loading for ever

    • @myHomeKithome
      @myHomeKithome  3 года назад

      I appreciate it! I looked into this a bit in it seems like it largely depends on the formula. However, it doesn’t really seem possible for most of them. For example you can set the color loop to be active after lights are turned back on, but there’s no way to activate color loop by voice or in HomeKit.

    Hello, great video! I was wondering if there is a way to also save under the HomeKit scène not only a scene from Hue but also a scene from Nanoleaf all under one same HomeKit scene.

    • @myHomeKithome
      @myHomeKithome  3 года назад

      Thanks for the comment and what a great question. I can't speak specifically to Nanoleaf as I don't have any of their products, but if you create a scene in the Nanoleaf app AND it then shows up in HomeKit, you should be able to turn on the scene in the Hue app and add your Hue lights with their current state to the Nanoleaf scene in Apple's Home app. I hope that makes sense!

    • @myHomeKithome
      @myHomeKithome  8 месяцев назад

      Correct, HomeKit does not support gradient lighting effects nor any lighting effects. Depending on how manufacturers create their lighting affect though, you can accomplish this through their native apps a lot of times. I haven't tested this in a while but when I recorded the video it worked.
