I live in Brooklyn NY and I starting out in guitar. I live in an apt. I love metal music and hard rock. Using it for 1 guitar effects as I won’t need to buy individual ones. 2 main reason I got headphones used for my recording/engining and I can play without my neighbors hearing.
I’d say yeah it would work for a live show. Especially if there’s a lot of bands and a back line might save time or everyone would want to use your phone lol
Let's talk about the elephant in the room and that's the cab, not gonna lie it's throwing me off a bit not seeing that mesa cab. It's like your best work friend called in sick today 🙃
you have read in my mind, i thought just a couple of days ago about using my phone as an ir loader and using a small amp as preamp and personal monitor.
Zoom and Behringer branded interfaces usually just work. I'm using a USB/HDMI hub with a samsung phone to plug into a monitor with DeX and I'm using my Zoom U-22 and it works just fine. I've used my old Zoom R8 before (sadly it broke after a decade of use), as well as my Behringer UMC404HD. My fiancee has a Behringer UMC22 and that works, too, AFAIK.
For travel situations this is great. Not sure why I haven't considered the phone option yet considering I have a proper interface already as well... more time to spend :P
Just a heads up for anyone who does use this. Put your phone into airplane mode because the phone signal receiving a call or text makes your guitar go wild! 😂
I feel it miiiiight work if you had a spare phone instead of your usual one (I got a spare because I'm a T1D and had to change phones so I could be compatible with my equipment apps), but I'd also freak out if it wasn't fastened down and built like a Nokia with a decent enough battery Also you probably got a full queue, but I was curious if you had a take or a comparison between tube and solid state power in rigs like this one, tube power is probably overkill for a budget guitarist but I've seen some incredible results of running distortions and preamps into one
Dan, can you do dirt cheap live gig set up with a guitar and a pedal only. Assuming the gig has PA speakers (which is stupid if they don't have them). For example Donner DST $200 + Sonicake Matribox $130
How does the iRig compare to the Mooer Prime P1? I kind of like that the Mooer has on board processing so you don't have to worry about latency and you can disconnect your phone and keep playing. Also it seems like the Prime P1 doesn't need an amp? Are there any others you would recommend?
Not on iPhone. Apple has had >10ms audio latency on their devices from the beginning. Android is a total crapshoot and it’s mostly bad. Apple is completely dominant when it comes to mobile audio production
there is somthing about tonex nobody is talkiong about , if you capture rig with E standard tuning , and change your string to D standard that preset sound like Shit , NAM too
The HD X says it works with android, but I think the problem with android phones is there's pretty severe audio latency that's built into the OS from what I understand. Which is why you don't see nearly as many of these types of apps for it.
So this is gonna be an end of amp industry? And soon all the backline roadies are unembloyeed😂😮 no more big walls of amps and cabs on stage just a phone insert to litke pockesize poweramp that goes to PA....😂
They aren’t better. iOS has auv3 plugins you can use from Eventide, fab filter, etc. And any class compliant audio interface works w iOS so you have many more options
Get and iRig HD X here www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irighdx/
Used my iRig HD X at a gig and it worked perfect going straight into the PA. Just like a perfectly miked up amp. I’m sold.
Absolutely insane how far Technology has come already😱😱🤯
We are spoiled af
I love the melodies and the subtle harmonies within the chord progressions. :)
Yes, I’ve done it. Garage Band on my iPhone plugged into my 4x12 cab. So fun!!

That’s funny I forgot I used the bogner cab, shit… I need to change the thumbnail 🤣
Awesome video once again mate. Tech atm is just mind blowing for guitarists, I love it

Interfaces generally can’t connect to your phone
@@AnthonyBencomo I have a Saramonic which has a lightning connector, it's the right device

not really, i've had that happen live and almost died 😂. but it went fine, my phone was on silent mode hahaha
What power amp pedal is that? Seems to work phenomenally well.
* Receives spams calls in the middle of the gig *

I like that tune
Any chance on getting a title/link for the video where you teach us Sacrificer riffs in C standard? I legitimately cannot find it.

“Satan with the Kill Switch On” - well, that is how he rolls.
can you output the guitar with its effects through an amp with effects
?

Thanks Taylor for your content , can you hear a quality difference between the iris hd x and the Tonex Pedal ?
Sickkk!!!!
Its my vacation rig.
brother both softweares are free or paid?
But what happens if you get a phone call during practice? Does your Hello Kitty ringtone ring through your Bogner cab? 🤔
How do you run that thru your cab
This or tone x pedal?
What if I get a call mid show?
Airplane/do not disturb mode my dude
live - everyone will know your ring tone
What power amp is that?
Higher power by this heavy earth effects
Too expensive to make that noise 😊
fine but is there any latency issue ?
On iphone, no. It's set to 32 samples at 96khz.

The Cab only is worth my monthly wage without me eating, sleeping and living 😂
I think it sound thin and tinny.
Anyone know what poweramp pedal that is?
ThisHeavyEarth Higher Power
IOS exclusive? Or is there love for Android as well?

iPhone is far superior to Android for this, because it has much lower latency, and has more apps and hardware
Probably have to turn your phone services off otherwise you'd get that fkn annoying interference every minute or two. Screw that
First!
I've been wanting to figure out how to use my phone kinda as a preamp
Love what you do brother. I'm a player on a budget so you've been an extreme help in me finding my own tone instead of emulating others.
Awesome, glad I could help 👏👏🤣

No, you shouldn't.
I mean cheap pedals like Mooer GE-150, Valeton GP-100, Sonicake Matribox, and so on IMHO are better choices.
