Back then there were new websites pushing forward live streaming ; Justin.tv and later Ustream etc They all died now as the bigger multi billion companies have full control of our media.
@David Land even if I’m happy that Laguna Seca is back, still not the best way to end a season IMO... if only they could return to Fontana under the lights for the finale. Wishful thinking... Nonetheless, I think Laguna Seca’s scheduled just right in September, just need to sort out a doubleheader with IMSA from next year onwards.
@@MathRaven1910 As crazy as it is to see again, Unlikely... since shortly after the season finale in 1996, the series has not permitted any driver to make a pass like Zanardi's. Don't forget with what happened to Gonzalo Rodriguez in 1999.

Turn 9 AFTER the Corkscrew looks tame, but it's a forever drop and blind curve to the left. The Corkscrew is over so fast and is a simple pair of 90* corners you hardly notice the drop while driving it. But 9 is my favorite....Well 10..and 6...Lol, it's such a great track to drive. Cameras and even spectating in person just don't do justice to the elevation changes/blind corners. So fun to drive.

After readding Portland finally Laguna Seca back, too. So we have the 4 classic openwheel races Road America, Mid-Ohio, Portland and Laguna Seca together on schedule. Hopefully they will never be taken off the calendar again. Now Milwaukee and Chicago should come back in future.
Man, Felix is really fighting the flicks of opposite lock. Could it be the dust on the track surface? Love the onboards as usual. Next year, NTT should sponsor a visor cam on Felix (despite the aeroscreen) and not just the primary roll hoop cam.
Fyi for those people complaining about the cars lacking grip, it's not the car's fault. Laguna Seca's infastructure has degraded over time, meaning the conditions of the track, including the asphalt, have aged quite poorly and it's hard to repair now. the more years Indycar races here, the better the track will get!
I wouldn't want to see a F1 GP at Laguna Seca (just because I don't think it's a suitable track for F1), but I would certainly love to watch a F1 car put in some laps and record at this track.
There are videos of the 2004(ish) Ferrari F1 out there. I think it holds the unofficial lap record, unofficial because the lap was not set during a qualifying or race session.
Great stuff, but having a 3 week break before the championship race was a horrible idea. I feel like indycar already ended. You can't build suspense for 3 weeks, it wears off. Also, more ovals. Should be 50/50, not 5/17.
As much as I don't like the aeroscreen, if it can help bring IndyCar back to more ovals, then maybe we could see the varietal balance like in the post-merger years 2008-2011.
@@sgtpepper6379 And I can see NASCAR cutting back on race weekends in the near future. Meaning to say, tracks like Chicagoland, Kansas and Michigan would probably give up the could-have-been second NASCAR weekends to IndyCar to fill in instead. And IndyCar at Chicagoland has some of the best history in the series. More than half of the Top 10 Closest finishes are in that very oval. A no brainer that they should come back and even do a jam-packed race Weekend with Indy Lights and even the NHRA (The latter would be in the adjacent Route 66 Dragstrip).
The point? Indianapolis 500 is the point why racers race. Everything else doesn’t matter. Your and my opinion don’t matter. He’s the fastest driver to race on greatest race in the world that’s what matters. Period!
Too fast at the entrance of curves and losing time at the exit because of the sideways and too much steering, he tryies to accelerate too soon, so it looks spectacular but it is not efficient.....
These cars needs better handling. That's a joke. Compare to the F1-Ferrari from 2012 on the same track....and also 4 second faster than the fastest car so far on Indy practice today. ruclips.net/video/w7BR0gwt46E/видео.html

I can't really articulate a good reason but I like Laguna Seca SOO much more than Sonoma. Very glad to have made the switch.
Who will ever forget the Alex Zinnardi pass

I remember the fight between Rossi and Stoner in Moto GP there. That's what keeps me coming back to watch Laguna Seca races.

It's never been a high grip surface. The local rock used in the aggregate plus the loose, sandy conditions around ensure that.
