I remember watching that plane explode and go down. Was just starting my shift in Charle Coy CP. Us along with you guys at C/S 6 called it in and you guys got that brutal task. RIP
just listening to Gen. David Fraser's "Operation Medusa"; this accident was mentioned in the book. After refeuling in mid-air, the Nimrod had leaks and fire spread into the belly of the plane. The pilot tried to fly back to Kandahar but couldn't make it on time. Some soldiers saw the wing break off and then it crashed. Tragic.
