This is incredible Tim. To think I've been listening to your guitar playing my entire lifetime. No wonder why I'm obsessed with this instrument. Mary x
Mary thank you so much for the comment, yes I agree the guitar keeps changing our lives... And by the way I learned a ton from your eight minute documentary on Meat, I encourage everyone to head over to your channel
I’m a lot older than Mary but I also have been loving your guitar playing for decades without knowing it. And this is the nicest tribute to any musician I’ve ever come across. Thanks!
The first time I saw Tim's name must have been in the credits on Rick Springfield's "Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet" which I bought almost 40 years ago. As Meat used to sing: "As if it happened only yesterday" (on "Paradise by the dashboard light").
Meat was one of the few singers that I could understand, never once did his voice get lost in the music, every word was always clear and concise, and holds a special place in my heart, RIP to a world class act.
I heard an interview with Todd Rungren. He said the money dried up for Bat out of Hell so he ended up paying to finish it. He said it made him a million dollars. That was a lot 45 years a go. So I credit Todd for without him this may not have ever happened.
I met Todd Rundgren randomly along with his band mates and his girlfriend at the Oklahoma City airport. 1981, He was very nice, I was so fucking awkward. Later at the concert, Todd threw his picks at me all set . I didn’t catch one of them
This is so mindblowing. Back in the 90s, I was the weird kid who loved Meatloaf while all my friends were only into GNR and Pearl Jam. I used to argue with everyone that the musicianship was top notch on those records. In particular, I always thought the solo in "I'd Lie for You and That's the Truth" was epic. Tim, I've been watching your videos for years and I had no idea that was you! You're the best!
I remember Meat Loaf from his time in Michigan. My little band opened for him somewhere near Toledo. I think the act at that point was called 'The Flying Circus.' Petey Woodman was his drummer. Pete had a rack holding dozens of hats behind the drum kit and was constantly changing hats while he played. Even then it was most apparent that Meat was a tremendous talent who left it all on the stage. He was not confused but truly a force of nature. Thanks Mr. Pierce for the wonderful tribute.
The only thing that's good is Tim Pierce on guitar. WOW. Really appreciate you sharing these great stories with us Tim can't believe how much of your music I listen to and never knew it until I started watching you on RUclips.
Fantastic video Tim. Wow, your parts on "Living On the Outside" are killer! So good. Meatloaf was an amazing artist. Always loved his honesty and his 100% commitment to his art. He really "left it all on the field." Thoughts and prayers to his family...
The solo on I’d lie for you is just one of the best ones ever! It just starts of with this killer scream and it stays fantastic the hole way throughout 👌🏻.
Tim Pierce the number of hit songs that you have performed on staggers and amazes me. You could easily be one of the most influential musicians in the history of music. I am so thankful for your video's and to learn of your journey and career.
There's a site where you can see his contributions but his videos are where you can really appreciate all he's done. I come to his channel every time he posts a new video not only for educational value but I just like watching the joy he gets playing that axe. It inspires me to play mine.
I remember listening to Bat Out Of Hell endlessly when it I was a kid. Just a magical time. I never knew you played on some of his albums, but why am I not surprised. Awesome Tim ! RIP Meat.
The passing of my teenage superstars is deflating and wistful. Meats catalog lives on. He was a rare and interesting character among his contemporaries. Thanks for the video. You were fortunate to have a strong connection with his work.
RIP and thank you for this celebration. So so happy to find out that all that super fun guitar I loved as a kid was YOU! Loved Meatloaf the person and his musical theatre. That's how I fell in love with music. Thanks yet again Tim.
I love that Tim plays these songs effortlessly, just like tunes I've been playing since I was 20. Only difference is that I play other peoples tunes and he's actually written these, lol. Great Tribute. Rest In Peace Meatloaf. You'll be forever in our memories as a fixture of Rock & Roll history.
Another feather in the hat of Tim Pierce. So awesome to hear you played on his albums. I always marvelled at the quality of music Meat would put out. I wish I would have seen him in concert. That would have been spectacular. After seeing Rocky Horror for the first time, I said, "that guy has a real good voice'. Next thing I knew Bat out of hell came out. I like your comment, "I will see you on the other side". Yes you will. From Wikipedia it states, " Although he did not belong to any faith-based institution, Meat Loaf was very religious. While growing up, he attended church with his mother and studied the Bible, which influenced his work. Several of his songs, such as "40 Days" and "Fall from Grace", have religious themes. He prayed every night". I believe you will continue to jam with Meat for all eternity. Amen to that bro!. (Can I join in?)
Thanks "Meat" for the soundtrack of our lives and to you Tim, for the sonic background which accompanies and helps to elevate that one of a kind voice into eternity. R.I.P Michael Lee.
Great job, Tim. Thanks for sharing. You're playing is eclipsed only by your enthusiasm for what you do. RIR&R, Meat. (How cool is it to come here and watch people like Tim do his thing and talk about his experiences? There are so many talented players AND mentors, Bukovac, Wood, Trapp, Vai. Holy shit it's a blessing. )
Wow. Great playing Tim. You make it look so effortless and fun. Love watching you play, makes me want to play every time. Your solos fit the songs absolutely perfectly.
Tim, thanks so much for sharing this. I can't believe how much of your playing has been a big part of my life and I never even realised. All four of these albums meant a lot. Thank you sir!!
Miss him already. He was one of a kind. Very cool stories and love those licks. Looks like that music would be so much fun to play. I am sure playing live was always fun with great energy from him the band and the crowd.
I just want to say thank you for brightening up my vinyl collection. You're probably on half of the records I own and I love it when I watch a video and learn that you did something else I love that I didn't know about.
Great tribute man, we're all missing Meat and video's like this keep the community together and gives us a great insight in the amazing music that he's worked on. Thank you!
Wow, I’m definitely going to check out some more Meat Loaf albums…thanks for turning us on to the lesser known songs and sharing your stories. Very cool, as usual!
A wonderful and heartfelt tribute. It's easy to see why you so many artists rely on you. And, I am glad to see that Meatloaf recognized the contributions that you made to his work. That speaks volumes for him.
The I’d lie for you and that’s the truth solo is one of my favourites and one of the most melodic bits of playing on all of his records. Had no idea it was yours. Thanks for posting this Tim. Love it
Thank you for posting this, Tim. I was never a huge fan of Meat Loaf, but I have always heard good things about his character. It is very nice to hear stories from someone who knew him well.
This was a Tim Pierce Gibson love fest! I guess that the Gibson Humbucker (and Firebird!) sound was what sounded like Rock N Roll to the Meat Loaf camp.
I’ve always loved an entire story in a song. His were some of the best. I start noticing my age when we start losing the artists I knew as a kid, who always seemed to be there, keeping their hand in the game, snd showing us they “still had it”, that thing they hit us with when we first heard them. You always knew it was Meatloaf, and you were always entertained. Now, as it turns out, we’ll also know it was Tim when we hear the songs YOU played on. Thanks for this…😑
Thank you for this tribute, Mr. Pierce - I shall be eternally grateful to have lived during the time of such great music, and the artists like yourself who've cared enough to bring it to life. Well done, sir. 🙏
Tim, I'm always amazed at how much fun you seem to have making these vids. I consider it a blessing that I'm a good enough player to have a tiny bit of understanding of what you are playing. You obviously loved Meat Loaf, thanks for the look into the inner workings of his music.
WOW, Tim that is so awesome! Who does not love Meatloaf? His music is heartfelt and deep and yet so accessible and high energy and fun. You are right up there with the Legends indeed! Awesome video- Rest in Peace Michael Lee...
Thanks for this, Tim! Meat fan since 1977. Bat 1, 2, and Couldn't Have Said It Better rank highly among my favorite albums list. The title song Couldn't is perhaps my favorite Meat song, with your playing on that track a big part of why that is.
What a tribute to those of us who never got to know him. Really enjoy your playing, insights, ideas and have incorporated much from you. It is a true gift to be able to time and time again come up with interesting and memorable parts for multiple artists that all sound different. Love your stories-cracked me up the story you told Rick Beato about missing your gig because of the limo driver!
Your smiles while you play are what makes your videos extra special. I love watching musicians having fun at their craft! I once filled in on drums in an acquaintance's cover band and he (on lead guitar and lead vocals) would NEVER smile. He liked to look serious ALL the time. I'd be yelling at him to SMILE and CHEER UP the whole time. I guess he thought he looked more "badass" if he was serious. But, I prefer the Eddie Van Halen and Tim Pierce style of having a huge smile on your face the whole time. So.... yea. Rock on, Tim!
i love your videos You are having so much fun playing. Your stories about the artists are also very interesting. To many more videos. Greetings from Germany
Wow--that solo on Couldn't Have Said It Better--wow, so so good. I was never really a Meatloaf fan (bought the first album when it released way back when), but he had a hell of a voice. Nice video!
Not really a Meatloaf fan, but as amazed as I am with your playing, I am even more impressed and in awe of your ability to come into a studio and create your own guitar parts and solos. Absolutely incredible.
It’s an honour to watch your video Tim! To create riffs, chord progressions and solos that everyone knows and loves and in some cases defines the song must be an amazing feeling! Definitely gonna check out what other records you’ve played on! These are sad sad times indeed and we’re all feeling the Meat Loaf sized hole that has been left behind. I wish Meat peace and happiness wherever he is.
What a wonderful tribute Tim. Thank you. What great memories you have of playing on all those records and the time spent with him. He will be missed; but his music will live on. Cheers!! Great video and FANTASTIC playing on the white Firebird, I never heard that song before but now I will listen to it and specially to your guitar playing that is amazing, great guitar sound and very good vibrato
Thank you Tim, you have great depth of character to do this wonderful tribute to "Meatloaf". You brought me to tears very early this morning when you said, "see you on the other side", but than uplifted me with your fabulous contributions to this great man. God bless you. Your fan Bruce from Arizona.
Excellent tribute. Not being a big fan of Meatloaf but always gave his stuff a listen and ALWAYS loved the guitar work. Thanks, going to give his stuff a second listen.
Awesome! Thanks Tim! Meatloaf music contributed to the making of wonderful, fun and dramatic memories, for me, a young kid growing up in Northern Alberta, Canada. Man, we had fun. R.I.P. Meatloaf. Your passion and strength always remembered.
Meat always treated the muscians around him well. He treated the fans well. He had flaws like all of us, but he was somebody who left the world a better place. He will be missed.
Great look inside! Thank you very much! I always thought that the guitar part in Living on the Outside was the best I've ever heard. I so enjoy it every time I listen to Hang Cool Teddy Bear.
I saw Meat Loaf in concert a number of times, and he always proved to be the ultimate showman. It's sad that you guys have to keep doing these tribute vids so often, but it's also wonderful for us to share in the sincerity of the message, and why you do them. That clip with CLA at the mix session is a great keepsake for you. BOOH2 is a serious masterpiece and deserved all the success that came with it. The energy of how it was tracked came across BIG TIME, by the time we all got to hear it.
wow,TIM,this is outstanding.very very cool and honest.MEATLOAF is very interesting and seems to be a great individual.and your playing is awesome.im glad you did what you got to do and then showed all of us...thank you.
I think I borrowed "see you on the other side" from your meatloaf video,,, Great stories you told.... Your point about there being no difference between Meat's on stage and offstage life is perfect.... He was amazing

yes, you are absolutely right about that
And Steve Popovich too, he actually bailed Meat and Todd out, pushed Bat Out of Hell, with his company. We woulda never heard it if wasn't for him.

And you like Tim even more. LOL
Tim ive played guitar since 1974 aged 14 and ive only just discovered you now. Your tremendous and already im learning from you!
Very cool. Really enjoyed the video. It was very cool to hear Meat Loaf say call you out by name.
Thank you for a fantastic Tribute to Meatloaf’s memory. What a bunch of incredible guitars you have. Regards from a Swedish fan…..🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪
Very nice tribute. I especially appreciated the images of Meatloaf as a young man. Tim is the Zelig of American rock.

RIP Meat Loaf. Love you Tim!
I think I borrowed "see you on the other side" from your meatloaf video,,,
Great stories you told.... Your point about there being no difference between Meat's on stage and offstage life is perfect.... He was amazing
Fantastic tribute. Thanks so much! Also, I had NO idea I have been listening to you for 30 years!
