My grandparents and uncles and aunties and cousins live right across the street and my Auntie and cousins lived upstairs so we had that corner right outside Chicago. And my Uncle married the next door neighbor so when my cousins would come to visit from Baltimore, their grandmothers stayed right next door to each other. And on Sundays we all went to my grandfathers church together.

I met lil rob in San Antonio tx for a show. I met, guess his manager white dude first, and I was shuttle driver for a hotel. I was eating when they came up to take him to get chicken strips and when I brought back to the hotel that guy said “I don’t got a tip you going to the show?” I said “yea I know of couple there” I got out of work changed shirts and went in missing lil rob set. I got VIP from friends I knew and his manager came up to me when I was talking to friends and asked to lil robs table. He got me a corona and a shot of patron. So I asked the waitress to get 5 shots cause he had some 3 other people with him. Lil rob asked me “hey fool why you get us a shot?” I said “it’s outta respect y’all got me drink and a shot” he said “ok cool respect what’s your name?” He prolly forgot me but he is super humble and cool
It's weird because out of all the cities north of SD, I would've put Solana Beach at the bottom of the list when it comes to hoods. I never saw one there. Or in Encinitas, Cardiff, Del Mar, or any of those towns. It's kind of more an Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Escondido thing.
Del mar and Cardiff don't have any, xncinitas had two, Varrio Carlsbad has one, and la colonia eden gardens in Solana. If you go to the park, walk over to the community center you can. See all the old Hispanic names that first settled there. But it got gentrified ASF.. we have developers harassing families to sell their homes been there for generations.. then these condos and townhomes complexes taking over what use to be a single family house. Right now there's 5 or 6 construction projects on a single block from 1 or 2 developers with more to come

Eden Gardens was definitely a varrio in the 80s & early 90s. All the agriculture land was sold off so no need for migrant workers anymore. The entire SD Coastline is expensive, even Imperial Beach and Oceanside have become pricey

My family had a beach house in Mission Beach from the late 80’s -2012 and we use to go there every summer pretty much and I remember in the 90’s hearing Lil Rob. I graduated high school in 1995 and I was raised on hip hop. I listened to everything pretty much besides country music. I just could never get into it. I tried. But I listened to everything from classic rock like Pink Floyd,Beatles, The Doors,Led Zeppelin, The Who and many more. I also loved Metal like Metallica,Megadeth (Dave Mustaine was my neighbor here in Paradise Valley for a few years)Slayer,Korn, Deftones and many more. I listen to club/techno music before it was called EDM in the 90’s because the rave scene was huge here in Phoenix then. I love music period. I can go without tv, I haven’t watched actual tv in years, but I can’t go without music. I would go crazy with it. I still need to put on music to fall asleep to.
