I really love the stand for the Anker charger and it’s what drew me into it. I thought, this will be perfect when I’m on a break to watch videos etc but now I’m really put off by it because of the heat element. The apple one doesn’t appeal to me that much because it doesn’t have that stand which I’d find really useful.
Personally I've been using the apple one as something to keep my phone from dying if I'm in a situation where I'm at like 30% in the evening and have to go somewhere or just don't want to have to have my phone on a charger across the room and it's worked totally fine. it's not the fastest and it obviously doesn't top my battery off, but it's totally fine for when I just need my phone to not die too early. it's convenient, comfortable, not too heavy, runs cool, and looks good.
Like sure, it would be nice if it had 5000 mah, but honestly how often do you need THAT much on a regular basis? this gets me a good extra 50-60% of battery and that's all I ever need to make it through the day if my phone gets low early.
Yep sounds about right and as long as people know the use case then it’s totally worth it.
Thank you, this video convinced me the apple MagSafe battery is perfect for me, just extending the battery and being safer. Plus where I live the apple one is actually cheaper than the anker by $20-$100 depending on where you buy it (Australia things cost more)
As a super heavy 14 pro max user I don’t need it but on my heaviest days the phone can die by sun down (12+ hours usage)
I purchased the Anker 622 last week because I wanted the lilac shade, but the first thing that made me uncomfortable was how hot it got. I have not used it since because I’ve been contemplating returning it. Funny you dropped this video now, and may have helped me make the decision to return it and get the Apple.
Did you Return it? If yes, are you happy with the Apple one?
@@BlackDragon-pv1jo I used the apple one. So far it’s satisfactory. It doesn’t have that much juice, but not requiring a second cable to charge the battery pack is extremely convenient and it never gets uncomfortably hot in the hand.
You are completely correct about the heat of the anker battery pack, sometimes the pack would get so hot that it’s not only uncomfortable for me to hold but also the phone will stop charging due to the heat but the battery pack would continue losing power. Wish I had’ve went for the apple one first, i am a huge fan of anker but I will be sending back the battery pack.
Yeah that Anker gets uncomfortable hot and I’m good on that.
Did you buy the Apple pack? Is it better now?
@@BlackDragon-pv1jo yes i bought it it is much better and it barely heats up
@@JW-gv3de thank you, i will send my Anker one back too. My iphone was also very hot and issued a warning message and stopped charging, turned off the mobile network and deactivated the flashlight
I love that the Anker has a USBC. But I can’t handle the heat it gives out. It’s already reaching 80 degrees where I live and it was making my hands sweat. When holding it and my thigh sweat when in my pocket.
I like how he explains things, he can be technical but also simplify it for those who may not be so tech savvy. Also has a bit of ASMR to the videos and voice if you just listen and not watch, learn and relax same time 🤷🏽♂️
Haha thanks I appreciate that man! 💪🏽💪🏽
Apple battery pack has been working beautifully for me for traveling and emergencies. Stays in my bag and it’s there when I need it.
Can’t decide between these 2, your video helped a lot.. thanks!
Run a heat test & everything is clear!
With the update to the Apple MagSafe charger and the recent price reductions at Amazon, I bought two of these for my wife and me and our iPhone 13 Pros. We’re going to Europe this summer and I know from experience that all that roaming can deplete your phone battery in a hurry! I’m pretty confident that these battery extenders will easily get us through at least a day. The ease of charging both units through the iPhones minimizes the number of international charging adapters as well. Great video btw!
Hope y’all had a great trip.
How did they work out? I want a few of them for the same exact reason. We plan on visiting my wife’s family in Spain and wanted to make sure our batteries don’t die.
Excellent video, great explanation!
I own both and tried both on a iPhone 13 Pro Max and a Pixel 7 Pro, with Mous MagSafe case. Both work exactly as designed on both phones. As you say, they are battery extenders, not a power pack to recharge your phone.
Usage case - long flight, watching several a movies (no power outlet). Extended work day, etc.
Exactly, which is why i prefer the Anker because it's cheaper, especially during Black Friday/Amazon Prime days.
Lets not forget that the Apple also turns into a 15W MagSafe charger when it’s at 100% plugged in to a 20W (or higher) adapter. I use this all the time. Also has pass through charging from the iPhone when the phone is plugged in and the MagSafe pack attached.
True indeed. It’s has a ton of benefits that people easily overlook or they just don’t know about.
But it makes a lot of heat though
@@rohamvalizadeh6516 Its not that bad. Wireless charging isn’t that fast regardless so I only use it at a MagSafe charger when I’m not using it or when I’m doing normal things like viewing media or scrolling on twitter.
lol why? why plug the magsafe battery to wall power when you can just plug your phone itself to wall power so it charges at 20w???
@@bodigames Wired headphones exist bud
I use the apple MagSafe when I’m in the house. It’s my wireless charger in my home office and it keeps my battery at 90% when I’m just hanging out. That way I know when I walk out the door my iPhone is always at at least 90%. I’ve never taken the MagSafe pack out with me except if I’m going on a trip. Lightning sucks but I need it for my AirPods Max anyway so it is what it is.
Thanks tee I was about to get the Anker battery back on sale right now (pre-prime day) but I will pay a little more the official one from apple. Very useful review
I know you're the man with a plan when it comes to the Z Flip 3, so I was wondering, would the magsafe Anker be a good fit for my new z flip 3? I am 100% completely new to wireless charging and magsafe is very new to me. Does magsafe only work for iphones and the iPhone had magnets in it? Or would the Anker come with a magnet ring and would function on wireless charging capable Samsung phones? And if so, would I be able to use those same magsafe magnets to safely secure my phone to a magnetic car mount?
Thank you for a great review and explanation of the Apple Mag Safe Battery. Now that I have this correct information this product I'm going with the Apple Mag Safe Battery Extender . Thanks again!
Does the Anker or any batter case take apple iPhone charger expect apple MagSafe battery
Of the packs you have, which ones have the MagSafe animation? Also, which have the strongest magnetic connection?
Nice video! Perfect angles and cuts! I really like it!
Thanks I really appreciate it!
Thanks! this really helped me decide and makes much more sense to me now. Apple for me for the extender purposes. Cheers x
I picked up the apple battery pack and it’s awesome. You can use it on a fully charged battery (let your phone use the pack’s power) or charge your iPhone up to 40-70%
There is no better comparison video on RUclips. Great job for the DETAILED explanation. Details matter.
I have both and prefer the Apple MagSafe. Although it is less in size it runs cool and not a chunkster lol
Yeah for sure. The thin profile is one thing that’s also a plus.
MagSafe battery Pack all the way. I’m literally using it right now with my 12 Pro and I agree with the fact that’s it’s a battery extender. It easily allows my 12 Pro to be a 2 day device with moderate to heavy use. I love the integration. This is my favorite MagSafe accessory by far. Got this bad boy for $67 on Amazon so for the price and integration it’s a no brainer.
How did you get it for $67
@@armando5999 I got it for 70 usd on other shopping platforms. Sometimes the flagship store have clearance sales
I purchased the Apple MagSafe to extend the battery life on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Thanks for your video. Blessings on your day.
Thanks Jeff! 💪🏽💪🏽
but the thing is if the anker gets too hot it turns itself off from harming ur battery. and T why didt u get the stand with the 633?
I’ve never experienced the Anker turn itself off. Even before it reaches that point it just gets too hot too fast.
Thank you for what I think is the best explanation of what the actual MagSafe battery pack is - an extender…makes total sense now! 😁
If I buy the MagSafe battery pack from Apple or Amazon will they get me the new firmware update like will I see the 2.7b or do I have to update it once my order comes
Not 100% sure but it’s easy to update anyways.
Appreciate the video keep up the great work
has anyone created any magsafe battery cases? like with a ring on it ? or maybe a kickstand? if not… im giving yall a great idea i would buy lol
Will the Anker 622 sick and work with the Samsung galaxy s22 Ultra??
Used my MagSafe battery the right way today. 11:30a iPhone 14 pro on full. Slapped on pack and it just died at 6:39p and my phone is at 80%
I recently purchased the Anker 622 revised edition for $40. I dig the stand. I dig the black color. And at that price, I can just wait for the iPhone’s inevitable transition to USB-C and grab a gen 2 USB-C Apple MagSafe Charger, hopefully this time in black with a stand. The raised leather camera border on my Mujjo is ever so slightly too close, like it touches and the magnet can hold it to the boated but it works.
Can the iPhone charger charges anker 622?
So for the use of the apple magsafe batterypack, are you saying I should leave it on the iphone while I am using it? Like from the second I go out I just attach it to my iphone so an acts like a battery extender? And this is opposed to waiting till it gets to a certain percentage such as 50% for an example. Or I guess you could do both.
You can do both but you get the most use out of it just attaching it to your phone if you’re going to have a long day and you worry about your battery life.
@@TechnicallyTee Ah okay that makes sense. Does it get hot leaving it on like that tho?
Not at all. It doesn’t constantly use power and only uses it when it needs to.
@@TechnicallyTee awesome! thanks for letting me know
I own Apple MagSafe Battery Pack and this also does make iPhone 14 Pro Max a bit warm while charging but not as hot as you described for Anker MagSafe.
So do you think that Apple battery pack will also degrade the battery health as it also produces heat while charging?
Generally speaking heat will be generated with inductive charging, this is just a byproduct of wireless power transfer,
And though heat is detrimental to the lifetime of the battery, the iPhone is a pretty sophisticated piece of tech that regulates power and temperature to mitigate such damage so I’d say the life expectancy will drop more comparatively to wired charging, but not massively so
It's just yesterday I buy the Anker , actually it's become hot fastly and very slow charge every 15 min it's just charge around 7-10% only , the good news that I take it around 38$
I just got the new updated version of anker 622 maggo power bank it gets hot while charging my iPhone I’m afraid it might hurt my battery capacity any one have the same issues
The only things I don’t like with apple battery pack is no stand like the anker. Any case can make the battery pack stand ?
Plug the battery pack on a lightning dock. But given how the dock is out of stock everywhere, it’s not easy to get one.
Thank you for the review and info on the various Magsafe products. Earned my Sub, look forward to upcoming content. Thanks!
Thanks much appreciated! Welcome to the channel.
If the Anker 622 didn’t get so hot and had a power button, it would be perfect. I prefer having a kickstand and more color options. It may be best to wait for Apple’s new MagSafe battery pack with the usb-c port and hopefully other improvements and color options to come out.
That’s where the new 633 is correcting all those things. So it’s looking good for Anker and I would love to see an updated 622.
Hmm is that coming? If so, I’d wait for it as well.
It’s not coming from what I know of but I would like to see it.
@@TechnicallyTee Thanks! I mean USB C would be a game changer
and it’s not ove over over priced
Good review. Thank you.
in England its £50 for the anker one but £100 for the apple one so with that much of a price difference I think I'll be going for the anker one
How do you charge Apple power bank?
If you didnt use your phone while charging, does it still get super hot? Also, I know it wasn’t in the video title but how did casely compare to these two?
Still gets super hot.
You can turn the Anker battery off and on. There is a power button on the end where the usb c socket is. Got mine attached to my phone not charging. Tap the button and it powers up. Hold it in and it powers down.
How it works using the anker this way? Turning the battery on/off ?
Man you gotta go for what’s safe for you long term battery life. Spend the lil extra and get a lot in return.
Great video bro! I’ve been going back and forth on which one to get, I’m going with Apple now! Thanks
Thanks much appreciated and glad I was able to help you decide.
Great video bro 💪🏼 Tbh I haven't even looked at battery packs with my Pro Max. I have the Pitaka magsafe car charger that charges while I'm driving if I need it but I haven't ever had to charge my phone through the day with this godly battery of the 13PM lol.
Thanks bro and O yeah for sure, its hard to test these things with the 13 PM because it never dies LOL.
I bought an anker and it barely even stays on the phone. What’s the deal?? No case or anything and it slides right off
Could you maybe review the updated 622 with the popsocket, i saw a video on amazon where you are able to turn it off and in some emails communicating with anker they said they addressed the heat issue
I just got it yesterday. It does not get near as hot as the old 622.
Excellent versus and even better explanation of the use case👌
Thanks much appreciated!
Can you use the apple battery pack on the s22 ultra?
Ok ok, it’s been a year!!! I have been daily driving apples battery pack for over a year, and yes it does get hot… but what drives me insane is that it stops charging my iPhone when it gets “hot” does the Anker also stop charging because it thinks it’s “hot”… (my iPhone isn’t even hot and it doesn’t charge sometimes.. just wondering if Anker had the same issue 🤷🏻♂️
(Basically charge throttling from heat when sometimes there isn’t even heat!) anyone have an answer? I want a charger that will change no matter what, when apples stops charging and my phone dies and the battery pack still have a lot of juice😭 hope that makes sense, also getting the Anker tomorrow!! So I’ll be able to test it!
I’d much rather get the apple battery pack. Worth buying now in 2022 or wait for an updated one?
It’s October 2022 and I still picked one up. The first thing I did was update it. It’s been great. Keeps my 12 Pro Max lasting all day if i forgot to charge it overnight
May i know the case you are using..looks cool
Hey can i ask you the Anker power bank can be turned on and off with the button when i need it or its gonna be turned on always?
Thanks
You can turn it off but its getting suuuuuper hot
You convinced me to get the Apple one. Thanks
thanks to you im buying today the apple thing... Im going to travel this week and i need that for my 13 pro max
How about making microcharges along the day using the Anker. ?? I mean… trying to avoid the heat of the battery 🔥
I leave with the apple attached in my pocket to my 13mini then on a desktop i use the anker.. if i need too. I find myself using the apple 1 during the wk mostly and the anker 1 at home or weekends. Lately just the lte se watch and earbuds pro.....have been my faves. Someone should make a battery pack for the watch or on both batteries the ports should do reverse charging.
Does this work in the iPhone 14 Pro Max
What’s that case on your phone?
Very informative, thank you!! Gonna do the Apple.
Glad I was able to help you out 💪🏽
What case that you used in this video? Look sick bro
Thanks you a lot, I wanted to buy the anker one but I don’t like heating, after this video I decided to buy the apple magsafe❤
I have the Anker and I love that it has a stand and at first I didn’t like that you couldn’t turn it off when you put it on your phone but you can!! You just click it a few times 👍🏼 the only downfall is how uncomfortably hot it gets 😭 So maybe I’d go with apple if I had a do over
Good to know but yeah that heat is a no go lol.
ive heard double clicking the button turns it off
What case do you have?
I think with the update Apple battery pack is the best option. There not really big factors to change apples for anker or else. Great videos! Keep it up 😁💪
Thanks much appreciated and yeah that update made a big difference with the charging speeds.
@@TechnicallyTee I’m using the IPhone SE 2022, would the update on the apple MagSafe charger make it charge 7.5w on all other devices or just the 12 and 13 models? Similar to how the 15w MagSafe speed is limited to those models.
One thing that you said about the Anker that isn't true is the ability to turn it off. Once connected to your phone, it will automatically start charging, but the button on the bottom actually does have a function. You press and hold it for about 4 seconds and it'll turn the battery pack off, without you needing to remove it from from the phone. So, you in fact can use it exclusively as a kickstand, while preserving the packs power until needed.
thanks for this!
Nice review but honestly , carrying around an extremely “fat” iPhone isn’t what I think a very good idea just to extend battery life 😆. I like this kind of chargers mostly to take them and use them for small periods when the mobile phone is on a table , let’s say during a lunch or dinner, or even at home when I’m on the couch and want to keep the phone near me without cables. Your idea of “battery extender” isn’t bad but maybe better during winter when we have more clothes on 👍
Quick question What kind of iPhone case are you using
Pitaka MagEZ Pro.
This man flexing that pitaka case knowing we can’t buy it right now lol they need to restock quickly
They are available on the website directly right now. Not on Amazon though.
Before i was hesitant buying apple magsafe battery pack....but after watching this, i decidedto buyit the next day.... btw, i have also anker 622 magsafe though.
usin the anker 622 everyday only downside is cant charge with magsafe thats the biggest bugaboo for me. wired charging is so annoying especially when it takes a hour crazy to think it takes 3 hours to charge the 633 thats just ridiculous
Yeah I do wish all of them would let you charge it via MagSafe. Otterbox is still the only one that I’ve ran across that can do it.
Can the Anker charge airpods using its USB-c port using USB-C-lightning cable?
you can actually put your earpods ontop of it and it will charge them :)
@@andreasfiis3540 Can it charge my mobile wifi if I have USB-C to Micro USB? :)
@@jsjxyz it should
The Anker one is definitely losing a lot of its power through the heat. That’s why even though it’s almost 2x the capacity it only give you 10% more power
Yep.
I bought the anker 622 first because everyone were dissing the Apple one and suggesting it(even you yourself) and a week ago I bought the Apple one and I can say that it’s a lot better, my phone doesn’t heat up like it’s meLting and it charges faster!
Yeah once I started to actually use the apple MagSafe pack I started to really enjoy it and now I highly recommend it.
Appericiate the video, but the magsafe battery pack is honestly the most confusing product ever made from a company that prides itself on simplicity. This is my 2nd pack as I returned the first one but bought it again due to the 7.5w update and I'm still having the same issue. My phone LOSES battery with the pack attached while I'm using it and this is my main gripe, I left my house with 100% attached the pack and I kept watching the percentage fall, y is it not maintaining the percentage like u said in the video? I just don't get what I'm doing wrong, again thanks for the video though very informative.
Yeah that’s weird for sure right there. What iPhone are you using it on? Still shouldn’t be an excuse though. Not sure what that issue is about.
I like the mag safe battery only because when it’s wire it get 15w fast charging
AWESOME VIDEO! VERY WELL DONE! IM SHARING! :)
Didnt really mention the weight, but 5000mah is way heavier then sub 2k and thats definitely not worth it if its not optimised enough to make the most of that.
Apple wins here all day for me, I just wish that it wirelessly charged as well, coming from the Apple Smart Battery Case, thats definitely a step backward although I guess it does double up as a travel wireless charger so guess that's a new feature comparing the two.
Yeah I usually weigh them but yeah the Apple wins easy here for sure and I’m all for the optimization.
This vid made me stop doing research, got my answer right here. 💪🏾💯. Appreciate the video
Great video as usual. Imagine in the middle of a family trip to an ice cafe the Anker 622 is charging your iPhone on the table where the sun is shining directly on it. Bro I would be fucking scared
Thanks much appreciated! I don’t even want to think of that. Anker is on the right path though because the new Anker 633 doesn’t get as near hot when charging. Maybe we will see an updated 622.
Can the apple charge if you plug it in to the phone. Anker can
What do you mean? Can the Apple pack charge via wire??
@@TechnicallyTee yes use charging cable plug into phone then bank
The IPhone reverse charges your battery pack when it’s plugged in. You can also charge your battery pack while it’s charging the phone. Both ways
Casetify now do cases for the apple MagSafe power bank… it’s a case that goes on top of the bank
but why get a battery extender instead of getting a magsafe powerbank?
Because the apple MagSafe pack is more optimized for your device and won’t run hot like tons of other MagSafe battery’s out there. Personal preference.
Apple for me ! thin profile better on the go ! Nice video as usual 👍👍
Thanks much appreciated! 💪🏽💪🏽
Apple needs to bring back the charging cases but give users the option to turn off/on the charger instead of it always being on when plugged into the iPhone
I just bought both!
Hmm... So you pay how much for a "battery extender"?!
Спасибо за отличное сравнение!
Much appreciated! 💪🏽💪🏽
The best review!! Thank you for this video. Apple MagSafe all the way!
Thanks much appreciated!
I got the anker 622 better for me can charge more then one device at a time.
True indeed
my big issue with the MagSafe charger is my issue with Apple's whole marketing push for MagSafe in general. They have the MagSafe Wallet, the MagSafe charger, the MagSafe car mounts from Belkin and all these other things. The fact that you're expected to use the charger as a battery extender means you can't use any other accessories without having to constantly take the battery off.
With the Anker pack, I can wired charge my phone if I really need it, or wirelessly charge when I have some time to sit at my desk and watch some RUclips. There's a flexibility to it that's helped by having the 5000mah capacity.
But isn’t the point of MagSafe to easily take off and use different accessories? I take my MagSafe battery off all the time and interchange it with my MagSafe pop socket. It’s very convenient. Better than something like the smart battery case which was an entire phone case that only works with 1 phone, and also is stuck to my phone the whole time, I can’t just take the battery off, without also taking my case off, that’s way less convenient. Idk this argument seems short sighted.
The Anker pack is a power bank. It doesn’t care if your phone is sizzling hot but will just charge anyway.
The MagSafe pack is a battery extender. Something that helps the iPhone to survive the day rather than fill it to the brim. Anyways the MagSafe pack is versatile as well, namely acting as a regular charger when plugged in. It can reverse charge and doesn’t require a separate charger which makes it pretty convenient!
I just brought the Apple battery pack and it’s not that bad my phone was 100% and the battery was at 100%. So am getting about 4 and half hours of battery pack and the phone stills at 100%. Should last the whole day.
A good matchup
I started with the Anker and switched to the apple. It’s too seamless!!
Absolutely.
