  • Started to lay the first sections of cork roadbed on the new module. It's been a long time since I laid cork roadbed, the last time was on my old layout a few years ago. Although I never used foam before, it's still the same.
    Since there was so much content, the track laying will be in another video.

    I'm normally a Ron's Trains and things subscriber but the way you very simply showed this to me, plus I loved the music in the background, I'm now a toms trains n things ssubscriber.

    Hi Tom: “Cool demo”. I would like to make a suggestion. Before you lay the cork bed. Take it out side and spray paint it with a rattle can. Primer gray. This will give you a finished look before the ballast goes down and it will help hide areas missed by the ballasting. Gary from Michigan 🚂

    Well, after re-subbing (thanks YT, wonder how many other channels I follow disappeared), binge watched to catch up and caught this series, finally current! You had one heck of a year, a move, Debbie's accident (hope she is mending well), etc. You have accomplished more in a year than I have in decades. I am in awe of your skills, MRR, construction, plumbing, electrical, etc. I was on an emotional roller coaster just watching. I saw the smile as you said have track laid :) Looking forward to following your continued progress. I have learned so much from this channel, you have no idea...

      Thanks for watching my videos. Sometimes that happens. I've heard from a lot of subscribers that they though I quit because they were not getting notified on any new videos.

    One day at a time Tom. I wish I would have started off using PVA used 😪 Liquid Nails because they use it at the museum. Using it now though. Tell Deb we're still thinking of her. Have fun, Chris

    wow, that is for sure a life time supply of T pins. Not sure what Sadie was up too but whatever was going on, she wasnt havin it 🤣. That is for sure an impressive building collection in the background, I will be excited to see how they lay out on the new layout. Cheers Rob

      Thanks Rob. Sadie was hearing me talking to my self. LOL Never thought I'd get to use those T pins because of how I built my last layout, never needed them.

    Thanks for the demo Tom. Like you, I am a proponent of using white (or PVA) glue to attach both roadbed and track, and for the same reason, the adhesive is reversible.

    Nice job of laying the cork, you're very meticulous. Anyway, you're moving right along and it won't be long till you're running trains.

    A question that no videos seem to cover is how you hold in place the cork on sharp curves (22in radius) when using plywood as opposed to foam. It wants to buckle up making it a hassle using several weighted items to hold it down. Suggestions ?

    • @TomsTrainsandThings
      @TomsTrainsandThings  Год назад +1

      Never had an issue with it on plywood as long as you split it down the middle. I may have an old video I put out about 6 years ago on the plywood
