russia's "security Interest" means reconquering eastern europe. this is obvious from its actions. you cant square that circle. the Europeans were right, "this cant happen," and they're going to prove that point to russia in real time.
And yet that's foolish narrative still dominates the western media and politicians today- they lie with their eyes widely open to manipulate their population.
Both Mearsheimer and Walt missed a critical counterpoint - how different is Russia's 'unprovoked' aggression against Ukraine, from that of the US-NATO unprovoked (totally) aggression against Iraq?? Hundreds of thousands perished in the latter!
Some things this guy says appear to reflect a growing concern in Wall Street Circles, about the fragile grip on World Trade values, the US now appears to control. Since 2008 the US has not reduced the Debt issue that needs a large GDP to support payments on the $31 trillion the US Treasury appears to owe? Peace? Did Putin ever cared for diplomacy? Ukraine does not need another naive N. Chamberlain who made fool of himself in 1938 with his "PEACE". 1939 Picacu face.
This interview is from early May, but I would be surprised if he hadn't reflected upon that even back then even though he didn't mention it in this answer to a vague question in this mini-interview.
Actually he does and he has. What are you talking about? Both Walt and Mearsheimer have explicitly warned that NATO's actions and continuing support for Ukraine will drive Russia into the arms of China - despite the fact Russia and China are natural geopolitical rivals, if not mortal enemies.
I’ve no doubt Mearshimer and Walt will decisively win this debate because they’re right and the US foreign policy establishment is wrong … again.
do you have the link to the debate

Like 6 months ago… spoiler: Mearsheimer lost.
Rado wins
To counter act a question need to be asked what if Russia move its long range missles into Mexico, Canada and etc... What would US do?
The same thing it did 60 years ago during the Cuban Missile Crisis: Remove them, by force if necessary.
not an accurate comparison, to make it accurate to the status quo since 2014, the US would have to be actively invading either mexico or canada.
@@jstasiak2262 ultimately the US agreed to remove from turkey, and the russian's agreed to remove from cuba, there was no war.

You have to be fool to debate against walt and mearsheimer...
McFool😂😂

They will lose

it's obviously the case: they make reference to 80days of war. You're right, it's not obvious at all and very relevant.
Wouldn't it make more sense to find a peaceful resolution. Bad peace is better than good war.
No, peace doesn't sell weapons and dosn't advance geopolitical ambitions.
Peace? Did Putin ever cared for diplomacy? Ukraine does not need another naive N. Chamberlain who made fool of himself in 1938 with his "PEACE". 1939 Picacu face.
Parallel universe. Crossing the veil needs to happen to see clearly.
When is the debate?
This year… May 12th
these two gentlemen, mearsheimer and walt, age beautifully.
It is very surprising that the learned gentleman does not see very obvious consequence of the war which is alliance of Russia and China.

It's happening since 2009
