I’ve no doubt Mearshimer and Walt will decisively win this debate because they’re right and the US foreign policy establishment is wrong … again.

not an accurate comparison, to make it accurate to the status quo since 2014, the US would have to be actively invading either mexico or canada.

Different circumstances: In 1962 Khrushchev and Kennedy negotiated to end a crisis. The Cold War still went on before and afterwards.
Today, the Neocons in DC (Neuland, McFaul, Carpenter, Clain, Biden, etc.) are refusing to back down and are willing to risk nuclear war in order to overthrow Putin and “decolonize” Russia. Putin is faced with an existential threat to his country and cannot back down.

russia's "security Interest" means reconquering eastern europe. this is obvious from its actions. you cant square that circle. the Europeans were right, "this cant happen," and they're going to prove that point to russia in real time.

Both Mearsheimer and Walt missed a critical counterpoint - how different is Russia's 'unprovoked' aggression against Ukraine, from that of the US-NATO unprovoked (totally) aggression against Iraq?? Hundreds of thousands perished in the latter!

Some things this guy says appear to reflect a growing concern in Wall Street Circles, about the fragile grip on World Trade values, the US now appears to control.
Since 2008 the US has not reduced the Debt issue that needs a large GDP to support payments on the $31 trillion the US Treasury appears to owe?
As Legislators rushed to head Home for the Holiday, the addition of another Trillion and a half on top of debt figures appears to increase the pressure on the GDP to show better returns?
European Consumers are already pissed off at the price of LNG that the US is apparently attempting to sell to Europe. The sales of weapons appears to need the IMF to finance most of the sales that make the US into the biggest distributor of weapons. But the economic status of the US appears to be having difficulty providing some Christmas Cheer among the thoughts of a collision with a BRICS+ Wall in 2023?
Is the US Empire as poorly prepared for funding their Foreign Legions as the Romans were, as the end began to get near?

Actually he does and he has. What are you talking about? Both Walt and Mearsheimer have explicitly warned that NATO's actions and continuing support for Ukraine will drive Russia into the arms of China - despite the fact Russia and China are natural geopolitical rivals, if not mortal enemies.
