Some Rookie
Jim Miller, competing in his second PBA tournament, shocked a 380-man field in the $150,000 Showboat Invitational by claiming the $27,000 top prize.
Miller, 20, victimized 19-year-old Pete Weber in the championship match, 224-196, after earning the top-seeded position aided by his first two PBA 300 games.

PLAYOFF RESULTS- Martin defeated Tapp, 290-198; Martin defeated Zurich, 215-213; Weber defeated Martin, 221-194; and in the championship games, Miller defeated Weber, 224-196.
The 1982 Showboat Invitational was 1 of the ABC's Professional Bowlers Tour telecasts that the ABC station where I happen to live in (WYTV-33, Youngstown, Ohio) didn't carry in the early 1980's.
Not quite downtown... Boulder Strip... but I miss it dearly also...

I only remember James making one more show after this one. His career got off to a hot start and quickly faded.

Did Steve Martin said the “F” word at 29:02 while missing the 10 pin? No wonder in the 80’s that a professional bowler gets away with swearing haha.
Sam Zurich lost that New York accent when He moved to Florida. :) He showed great class with that strong finish.
