"I want to have a better relationship with God, but He feels so far away..." *ADVICE*

- Our Listener asks, "I am a teenager who was a prodigal son
wanting to learn the Bible more. I have went
to Christian schools nearly for all of my life,
except for the past 2 years, in which I went to
a public school, and just recently wanted to
have a better relationship with God. I already know how to get to heaven, which
is to trust Jesus Christ that He paid for my
sins on the cross with His blood, died and rose
again on the third day to prove He was God,
but I’m having trouble with having a sense of
independence along with personal growth. I know the 2 greatest commandments are to
love God with all your heart, soul, and mind
and to love your neighbor as yourself, but for
some odd reason it feels like whenever I try to
have a sense of self identity through my
hobbies and interests (piano, drawing,
reading, etc...) it feels like I’m ‘ignoring’ God
in a way. I pray, read my Bible, and give thanks to
God each day, but my relationship with Him
feels less close than it was before. This is
where the strange part comes in. Before I was
struggling with my lusts and worldly pleasures
but now I’ve taken care of those sins. At that
time, God felt really close and personal as if
He was there with me the whole time through my trials and tribulations. But now it feels
like since those problems are taken care of,
God has ‘left’ or is ‘less involved’ in my life
now. Currently, I’m doing all the right things
that please Him, but yet for some odd reason
it feels like He’s more distant than He was
when I was struggling with my sins. Is this experience common for other
Christians? I am merely a babe in Christ, and
am seeking guidance so that I can further
develop my Christian walk. Also, I’ve read
Matthew all the way to Ephesians in the
New Testament along with Genesis and
Exodus in the Old Testament. Long story short
God somehow feels less personal and close
now that I’ve overcome my trials.”

Amen, thank you Pastor! ❤
Avoiding sins doesn't mean we're saved, but does help improve our walk with God and what we can do here for others, spreading the Gospel and scriptures properly, so no fault shall be found in us by them we preach to, while we wait for Jesus. 3:27
How to Know You're going to Heaven:
1 John 5:13 KJV
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Jesus Christ! ❤

In all that you do, do for the Glory of the LORD. I'm an artist and get my inspiration from Revelations or OT stories. The creativity is endless with God.
James p 877 do you want the long or short version?
Vow of silence shhhh 🤫
The reason He feels so distant,is this is the great falling away. The door that was wide open is closing, once closed the scripture kicks in,let those who are wicked,be wicked still, and those who be righteous, let them be righteous still. It will be locked in,
Interesting theory, care to elaborate a little more?
Huh?
