I’m not going to lie. I’m currently giving my dog the side-eye as he’s napping in his bed. We’ve had 15 years to train, but never achieved anything beyond “sit” and “stay”. I guess I only have myself to blame. If the “parent” is a slacker, the “child” can’t be expected to achieve greatness. That pup was amazing!

I got goosebumps. Beautifully trained and lovely dog. Unfortunately I have never seen a well behaved chihuahua! (probably just because not where I live). I have always thought of chihuahuas as yappy little dogs because so many owners do not teach them to STOP barking once visitors are authorized by the owner to be in the house. That is a failure on the owner's part. Yelling at a yelling (barking) dog reinforces the behavior does not stop it lol.
Yup. Most of the Chihuahuas I know are nervous wrecks. People think their yapping and biting is “so cute” and just keep manhandling them anyway, so you get a dog that’s perpetually terrified and lashing out when a bigger breed would be trained out of it or else have its boundaries respected. Had a family friend growing up who didn’t let that happen with her dog, made sure us kids left him alone when he was scared and didn’t let him bite anyone, and he grew up into the best behaved Chihuahua I’d ever known.
Chihuahuas are extremely intelligent and highly trainable. Unfortunately the majority of people who buy Chihuahuas get them as fashion accessories or status symbols and don't properly train and socialise them. Untrained and unsocialised Chihuahuas can be aggressive and dominant.
