    • @ShadesOfTech

      This is a very specific question. There are definitely some scaled resolution. If you want to see all of them you just need to press alt and then click on scaled and you will see all the scaled resolutions, even the ones not optimised. If this doesn’t work you can use an app called switch res x that allows to trigger any resolution or framerate you want.
      Back to your question you can select 3008x1692 at 60hz and it’s actually the one I use with my Mac and one of the 4 suggested by apple so you should be safe and sound. But ultimately it’s up to you Mac gpu the resolution it can drive

    what do you think about upgrading the ram to 128gb? according to OWC and transcend jetmemory this mac pro 2013 is capable of supporting 128gb of ram

    • @ShadesOfTech
      @ShadesOfTech  4 года назад +2

      Yeah it’s confirmed it supports 128 Gb but you have to use slower ram dims.
      In my usage scenarios at full load while video editing I use maximum 32 Gb so in my case you want to have faster dims rather than more ram.
      If you need more ram because you use more than 64 gb you can use 128 gb but if you don’t do that it doesn’t make sense the extra money

    Gulp. Got all the way to the inside, but then the final four internal screws holding the CPU have solid caps! No Torque screw hole in them! What the heck! Has anyone seen this? And if so, how the heck do you remove those?

    • @gregfay
      @gregfay 2 года назад

      Saw this on another site!!! Yay!...
      "you've run into Apple's new tamper-evident screw stickers. Before you proceed, please note that removing these screws will leave behind clear evidence to Apple that you've been inside the computer, leaving you no wiggle room on your warranty. To remove the screws, first press down with the T10 screwdriver around the centers of the circles, where you would expect the holes to be, and you'll tear right through the stickers (you may have to blindly rotate the screwdriver a bit to get it to line up correctly, since the stickers conceal the holes). Then, just unscrew as normal.
      A couple more notes: new Mac Pro 2013's started shipping with these CPU screw stickers some time in 2015, and if you take an older Mac Pro 2013 in for repair, Apple will quietly add the stickers if, during the repair process, they end up stripping the computer down to the CPU bracket.
      I haven't found a satisfactory method for preserving the stickers, nor a replacement, but I imagine it could be done...
