That’s a great idea! I recently watched a video about backtesting the Golden and Death Cross on the NASDAQ, which showed some solid results, though with a small sample size. The death cross seems to indeed be a better predictor of reversals than short signals, at least on NASDAQ. The golden cross also showed great results on this sample.
However, it's important to consider how valuable the golden cross actually is when analyzing the stock market on such large time frames, since the stock market tends to go up over time. So a better comparison for the golden cross might be to compare the strategy to a simple "buy and hold strategy"

Always welcome Cat! 💙 I currently use a combination of MACD (histograms) and RSI to find divergences. I also look for chart patterns (sometimes using the premium chart patterns indicator) and I also apply market structure and price action principles 👍

Ive watched a ton of your videos and I still dont realy know shit. Would be great if we could see this knowledge in action. Experience (imo) is far more valuable than study. They go hand in hand but I have received one but not the other. We ( your students) need to go through the experience with you. Beginning to end . You have a passion for learning and teaching. Lets take that next step.
Experience is indeed key! 🗝️ I recommend practicing trading concepts using paper trading, where you can gain experience without risking real money. As for your suggestion, would you be interested in a step-by-step video showing the entire process from analysis to executing a trade? That sounds like a solid idea.

@MindMathMoney I'm quite a newbie (IT guy with a math/physics background), but the whole idea of two historical data streams with different time periods is quite genius. I'm scripting my own thing and will try to fit historical data and try to eliminate false signals, which is not easy, I have to admit. I don't do it with real money and only try to fit points until I think it is good enough. It may take months and months, especially because I have a few spare hours for myself haha. I guess I will eventually fail but it's a nice hobby. Thanks for your reply and I will watch more of your videos
@@evertvanderhik5774 That's awesome to hear! It's definitely not easy, but as long as you can get an edge, it's possible. There will always be failed signals, getting a positive expected value on your trading strategy is key 🔑

The ALMA Is very interesting and also useful. But the problem is how to set up the window size properly on each case to study.
That's a great point. The exact settings can vary on a case-by-case basis. As always, it's a good idea to experiment with settings that work well for your current strategy and asset type.

Yes, the VWAP is a type of moving average but it also uses volume in its calculations!

Do you mean you're using a 50 and a 20-period moving average? What time frame are you on? It's hard to give specific answers on the "best moving averages" because it varies case by case
@@MindMathMoneyYES using the 20 and 50 period moving averages. I uses the 1hr for analysis then use 5mins for entry! In some cases, I also use 15mins
What made you use the 20 and 50 periond MAs? I would suggest trying both the ALMA and the HMA and test them too see how they perform and differ!
@@MindMathMoney what am using to trade is MT5 and not trading view; so indicators like ALMA and HMA cannot be found there, that's why i uses M.A 20 and 50
I noticed if you change window size of ALMA to 50 it turns into the almost the same thing as SMA 20
Interesting observation! 🧐 It's a great example of how different mathematical formulas can sometimes give similar results. It's not a bad idea to keep experimenting with different kinds of moving averages to learn more about how they work 👍
What MA to use in what time frame?
You can use MAs on pretty much all time frames. Just make sure there’s enough liquidity in the market for your chosen time frame. Short term trading tend to focus on short length MAs (like 9 or 20) while longer term trading might use MAs (like 50 or 200) 👍

That's definitely an interesting idea. I recently watched a video where someone backtested the Death Cross on NASDAQ and discovered that buying during a Death Cross yielded better results than selling. The outcomes for the Golden Cross were quite different, however. Personally, I don’t trade based on crosses, but I encourage you to experiment. Remember to backtest any strategy before you start using it, as the effectiveness of crosses can vary between different asset types and time frames.
