  • Hi Shawols! I am back with some of Jonghyun's music! I am so excited to hear more of his work. I also actually just found a SHINee MV that I have never seen before, so I think I have decided to check that one out next time. Jonghyun, what a talent. He was an incredible artist and I wish I would have been able to experience his music during this time. The way he harnessed and perfected his instrument into one of the best vocals I have ever heard, he was just something else. I hope you guys enjoy this reaction and don't forget to like, subscribe and comment down below!

"Lonely" is such a hauntingly beautiful song that really showcases what made Jonghyun such a master as a singer, songwriter and composer. He was such a beautiful human being.
If you count the marks drawn on Jonghyun's arms, by the end of this MV he has 27 marks which, as part of the story in the song, seems to represent that these are the number of days, moments, years, weeks, etc. that he has felt lonely since their relationship ended.
However, some also thing each line on his arm could stand for every year of Jonghyun's life that he has felt lonely. What makes this MV even more sad is that he was 27 years old (Korean age) when he recorded this MV so he was essentially saying that there has been a part of him that has always felt lonely from the moment he was born. Although, in interviews, Jonghyun said it was only a coincidence that the number of lines happened to be the same number as his age. But, I still think this was more intentional than he felt comfortable admitting to the general public.
At this point most fans knew that Jonghyun suffered from depression and often struggled to see how much good he had in his life, but most never realized how true to real life this song and MV really was until more than 3 years ago when he lost the fight and could no longer overcome that lonely feeling anymore. And that's why this song has become one of his most sad and powerful songs, because it represents so much more than we even knew at the time.
Watching this MV now, many have wished we would have paid more attention during this time and maybe taken the message within this MV and song more seriously, but we know all this now because of hindsight and we can't turn back time. However, we might be able to use Jonghyun's legacy and his amazing light that he has left behind to make a difference in the world.
Taeyeon and Jonghyun were really close, almost like siblings. They were best friends and they adored each other. Jonghyun wrote "Lonely" with Taeyeon in mind as the featured singer. He said he thought Taeyeon would be able to understand the feeling of being lonely despite the fact that she is a celebrity who is admired and loved by so many people, just like the way he felt when he wrote the song.
You did well Jonghyun, our angel and diamond in the sky.

"She Is" is Jonghyun's title track on his second solo album from 2016.
And just like SHINee, nothing he does will be like anything you have heard from him before.
Jonghyun was such a magnificent singer/songwriter. His solo albums were all so colorful because it was 100% his voice and style -- he was the one that wrote and composed or co-composed the whole album every time. So his solo songs were where we got to hear his true thoughts and emotions and he could tell his story. He was truly brilliant when it came to music and that was why he was so highly respected by everyone in all aspects of the music industry. I truly believe that if he had had more time in this world, he would have eventually even made it into the U.S. music scene and he might have even wrote songs for western artists.
As you know, live performances are what makes SHINee special. There is nothing like a live performance from SHINee. You should really check out a live performance of "She Is," you will be even more impressed when you see and hear him perform live. And SHINee never performs a song the same way twice, so audiences never get tired of seeing or hearing SHINee's songs because every performance is different. That is because they were created to be SM's experimental boy group, so they are always coming up with ways to be new, unique and groundbreaking. SHINee is the group that starts the trend and it's the rest of the industry that follows suit.
Yes, when it comes to SHINee, they all can do it all. The rappers can sing and the singers can rap. As trainees the members of SHINee started out training to be a hip-hop group, so they all learned how to rap. That's one of the reasons why they are so versatile.
You did well Jonghyun, and you never will be forgotten.

He did an incredible job with this song. I always appreciated and admired everything Jonghyun could do with music. You could just tell that he was meant to have a career in music. His passion was reflected through each and everyone of his songs and his performances on stage. SHINee's stages are something else. I feel like every SM artist has just perfected the art of live performances because they all just absolutely blow me away. Jonghyun was an amazing artist and even though I didn't really get to enjoy his presence when he was here, I'm glad my sister showed me SHINee's song and videos when she first got into K-Pop back in 2014.
