The reason why you might feel like blackpink hit different is because a lot of girl kpop groups do cute concepts but blackpink as the name suggests is all about duality. So they have songs that fall on the pink cute and fun side and some on the black so more badass. They're a girl crush band aka the badass girls you'd have a crush on that's the best way to think about it. There's more groups like them that do more badass music and kinda sexy too like mamamoo for example. While others do more typical cute stuff like loona, twice and so on
I wouldn’t put Mamamoo in the same genre. Blackpink are very “pretty and savage”, even when they venture outside it (like in Stay). They are awesome at it. But Mamamoo is a genre unto itself. I think maybe (G)I-DLE would be closer, conceptwise, to Blackpink than Mamamoo is.

These four ladies are the reason I started listening to K-pop. One thing that it took me a while to figure out is that a lot of their songs have Japanese versions and the rap parts are always in English in those versions. They don't have a single thing out that I don't LOVE so whatever Blackpink thing you choose to react to next is a 10/10 choice. Even their covers are amazing. The first time I heard Jisoo sing Clarity my jaw was on the floor. Lisa, the one with the sword, also does solo dance performances that are incredible.

You might have heard of blackpink too during last year's coachella. They were the first kpop girl group to perform there I believe. They had a huge crowd to watch them and it surprised them. They're said to have recorded many songs and keep saying they want to release music but every time they release mini albums with only like 4 songs. These four ladies are the reason I started listening to K-pop. One thing that it took me a while to figure out is that a lot of their songs have Japanese versions and the rap parts are always in English in those versions. They don't have a single thing out that I don't LOVE so whatever Blackpink thing you choose to react to next is a 10/10 choice. Even their covers are amazing. The first time I heard Jisoo sing Clarity my jaw was on the floor.

You might have heard of blackpink too during last year's coachella. They were the first kpop girl group to perform there I believe. They had a huge crowd to watch them and it surprised them. The crowd even knew the blackpink in your area chant and sang along. That whole performance is worth watching tbh it's amazing and you can feel why they are so popular. I believe there are fancams though some might be focused on only one member of the group (this happens a lot in kpop as the members have individual fansites that record them and take photos)

- their company is doing them dirty and won't just give them a full album. They're said to have recorded many songs and keep saying they want to release music but every time they release mini albums with only like 4 songs. They also promised solos for each member and only jennie got hers. Next is rosé and it was supposed to be releases literally years ago and hasn't dropped yet. The fans have protested so much that the company assured they would release new music this year during spring.
- jisoo is the only member who isn't fluent in English. She understands it but doesn't speak very well.
- rosé is Australian so her first language is English and she sometimes struggles or stresses over her Korean. Jennie studied abroad too that's why she knows English really well
- rosé collaborated with g dragon who is considered the king of kpop when she was like 13 or 14 and had only been training at the company for a month. He was so impressed by her voice that he wanted her in a song.
- rosé also has a deeper voice than she usually shows. The company makes her sing in higher tones instead of using her natural tone. I believe if she used her natural tone she would be more appreciated worldwide because omg one of the best voices I've ever heard (the g dragon song was before the voice tone change and she used her natural pitch there and its mind blowing)
- lisa isn't Korean. She's from thailand so at first when she started training she didn't know any korean
- lia posts dance videos to songs she likes with amazing choreography and they're on RUclips so you can see why people name her as the best kpop girl dancer
