Biots sure make great looking bodies-I’ve tied a few nymph patterns with them. Never thought to do a dry, but I will now. Are they pretty durable? A really thin coat of thin UV would help, if they’re prone to breaking. Of course, if the fly is getting beaten up-you’re catching fish! Nice tie!
You must have missed the step where I added brushable Zap-a-Gap exactly for the reason you cite...durability. I haven't tested the theory, but I'd be concerned the UV resin might add more wait and sink the fly.
As I slap my head, I did see that! Been tying more than a few nymphs of late, with UV coating. I guess my brain was focused on exterior coatings. Weight did cross my mind, but it can be applied quite thin, depending on the product. In the end, your way makes more sense. Thanks for getting my head on track.
