- So, back in 1994 I watched a programme on BBC2 that featured this tune. At the time I had no idea what it was, but in the show I only remember it without any singing. Later I found out it was Portishead - Mysterons. I spent the next few years looking for the instrumental version and even though I was convinced it existed due to hearing it back then - I never found it.
I thought I'd cut and paste together an Instrumental version just to satisfy and put an end to my 20 year long search...
Suddenly today I found the programme I watched was BBC2's 'Weird night' fortean year review and its on youtube!.
Turns out my memory seriously tricked me and the music is only just the intro and theremin parts cut together hastily from the original track.
There was never ever an Instrumental version.
I guess there is now...
for the life of me, I can not understand why there are no official instrumental versions of this landmark album
Because Beth Gibbons is immaculate.
For real?!!!
yeah much better without the weak vocals

Wow!! Thanks Chris.
Fantastic editing skills you have there.
I really, really love the trippy essence of this instrumental!!
Now there is an instrumental version.
Thanks!!
Inside your pretending
Crimes have been swept aside
Somewhere where they can forget
Divine upper reaches
Still holding on
This ocean will not be grasped
All for nothing
Did you really want
Did you really want
Did you really want
Did you really want
Refuse to surrender
Strung out until ripped apart
Who dares, who dares to condemn
All for nothing
Did you really want
Did you really want
Did you really want
Did you really want
The lore in the description!
Thanks for manifesting this.
This is superb. Many thanks for taking the trouble.
I remember watching that Fortean Year programme back in the day. I think the highlight of the night was an episode of the X-Files
Yes! It was the one with the guy who could start fires if I remember correctly
@@ChrisBlake that was it. I remember 1994 as it was the year I did my GCSE and the cases of the necrotizing fasciitis!
Cool, sounds so Silent Hill....the game that is not the crap movies ;)
Fantastic.
Top job....thankyou

This is perfection. Have you done any other instrumentals of Portishead?
Thanks, you're very kind. No I haven't, maybe i'll look in to it.

I wanted to subscribe to your channel but at the moment you have 69 subs, don-t wanna mess up with that lmao
I'd wait, Someone always unsubs when I upload my schlock. :D
Can I use this song for a video game please ? I need the Instrumental
I don't own any copyright on the song - that belongs to Portishead etc.. I'd say my version is an unofficial bootleg instrumental I guess. If you do use it a credit for this would be lovely but i'm not responsible for any trouble you could get into.
I’ve wanted this instrumental too. Mind if I use it?
i might be eric cartman, but then again i might not be, you can not know, my identity must remain a secret.. ..
