I was actually asking myself if that kind of machine existed some weeks before watching that movie-track, for I had seen the egg holder years ago. Then, Liam appeared in RUclips in that good video. Anyway, I do like Valerie: I crack an egg without destroying the egg itself, so the 'Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher' is not always necessary. There are different ways of cracking a boiled egg properly.

Being Swedish (for now...) I can sometimes see how the Germanic words morphed into the Swedish word. I've been here a while so know Eier now but going back a few years would not have seen the swedish word for egg in Eier. The others words have strong similarity: schalen(skal) bruch(brott) stellen(ställe) verursacher(förorsakare). "Soll" I can't explain though. But sometimes there are "false friends" word, i.e. seems to correlate but actually not.
They all have a commen ancestor in Old English, so it 'does not come from German' but all Nordic languages derive from Anglos, Saxons, Jutes and Vikings in some way. In the UK, they had the Romans and the Norman Conquest, so it is not so similar, but some of their inner languages have common ancestors, too. It's just history.

I hope it fits into one post. For Scandinavian < > English language cross pollination has probably occurred during Viking trade / raids / slaves. The old (proto?) You must not slice-off the top of the egg after you cracked it with the Eireshchalensollbruchstellenverursacher, you just remove the top part of the shell, using the same Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher, using it as a sort of wrench or lever, without removing the portion of egg-white. Yes, I know they say in the user manual to use the knife, but this, I think, was the demand from their lawyers, to cover the edge case when someone can not figure out how to use their eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher for the task.

It's actually pretty simple. All those really long German words are actually just because they get more and more specific the longer they get. So you really *just* do that to make those words on the fly. In the case of the title word: What is it? A thing that causes something: Verursacher. What do you want it to cause? A spot to crack at: Sollbruchstelle. (Which itself is a compound word, because yes, you can use those, too) What do you want to cause it in? A shell of an egg: Eierschale. -> Eierschalen|sollbruchstellen|verursacher Through that same principle, we derive a good amount of our vocabulary. Ambulance? A cart for sick people. Krankenwagen. Once you realise we really just superglue words together to make them more specific, you will start to see a lot of these :D
It's a joke. The word is actually a legit description of the function and a bit more specific than the more generic Eierköpfer (egg beheading device). In the English language, the stems of compound words are typically still separated by spaces, sometimes happens. In German, the stems get connected. And you can make up ridiculously long words. Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacherbetriebsanleitung (the manual). Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacherbetriebsanleitungsautor (author of said manual). Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacherbetriebsanleitungsautorenanstellungsvertrag (employment contract for such a person). In real life, you'd have "Anleitung für den Eierköpfer" instead of Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacherbetriebsanleitung. Assuming someone decides that the device requires a manual in the first place.

You have a bunch of other much more dangerous items around your house. Using a spring to keep the rod shorter also means you will need to keep your face _really_ close for the available travel distance to even allow it to reach your face.

It's actually pretty simple. All those really long German words are actually just because they get more and more specific the longer they get. So you really *just* do that to make those words on the fly.
In the case of the title word:
What is it? A thing that causes something: Verursacher.
What do you want it to cause? A spot to crack at: Sollbruchstelle. (Which itself is a compound word, because yes, you can use those, too)
What do you want to cause it in? A shell of an egg: Eierschale.
-> Eierschalen|sollbruchstellen|verursacher
Through that same principle, we derive a good amount of our vocabulary. Ambulance? A cart for sick people. Krankenwagen. Once you realise we really just superglue words together to make them more specific, you will start to see a lot of these :D

It's a joke. The word is actually a legit description of the function and a bit more specific than the more generic Eierköpfer (egg beheading device).
In the English language, the stems of compound words are typically still separated by spaces, sometimes happens. In German, the stems get connected. And you can make up ridiculously long words.

Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacherbetriebsanleitungsautor (author of said manual).

In real life, you'd have "Anleitung für den Eierköpfer" instead of Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacherbetriebsanleitung. Assuming someone decides that the device requires a manual in the first place.

Because if so, this thing in practice exerts so little weight I doubt it can do much more than crack an egg.

@@MichaelBurggraf-gm8vl If you refer to the spring in that situation pushing the rod upwards and possibly hitting your face if for some reason you look at it from above at a few centimeters' distance, 1. that still probably won't hurt much and 2. that is a very specific and unlikely scenario. You have a bunch of other much more dangerous items around your house.
Using a spring to keep the rod shorter also means you will need to keep your face _really_ close for the available travel distance to even allow it to reach your face.

Man bekommt die Veränderungen an der Sprache und den Sprachgewohnheiten nicht mit. Die bekommt auch kaum ein normaler Mensch mit, aber sie finden statt. Ein deutscher der viel Englisch redet vergisst doch auch deutsche Worte mit der Zeit.
