So, I've always struggled with brushing my teeth. Ever since I was little. My (undiagnosed) ADHD made it seem like a task that takes too much energy. (Yet it forces me to do dishes everyday. How does that work?) And my depression around age 12 made it worse. So, naturally, I've needed tons of fillings and root canals.
I've been to 3 dentists. Dentist 1 is the type where you have to schedule out almost half a year in advance, so we stopped going. Dentist 2 wanted to send me to Timbuktu to pull teeth that just needed more extensive root canals. (Plus Dentist 2 got a new assistant who would pat my shoulder when I got numbing shots but I'm not scared of getting shots. So that was also something.) And Dentist 3 can do the root canals. Ive had two (technically 4 given one of the appointments did three teeth) done already.
It's great that you are taking steps towards fixing your teeth! It's important to inform your dentist what your concerns are. If you don't like the nurse touching your shoulder you can definitely let them know for next time :) also it is important that your dentist gives you all the options such as extraction and root canal for you to decide. Sometimes that means you would need to be referred to a specialist for treatment.
have you seen the part in finding Nemo where the dentist is performing root canal? I think you might find it funny :P
@DrToothDoctorI have, but it's been a while. I actually just… stopped going to Dentist 2 entirely because of those two reasons. And I did try to hint at my not liking it during my last appointment there but the nurse didn't get it. My therapist, when I brought this up with her said that if I go back and it happens again, I might have to be a little more firm with the nurse. But yeah. So… this previous root canal, my insurance denied caps, so they had to put implants in (I think. Dentists don't put old teeth back in, do they? The new teeth feel just like the old ones
@DrToothDoctorFollow up: Actually, I was feeling the wrong teeth. It's the first three on the top right side starting at the front. My mom also said they looked slightly discolored. Is that normal for implants?
It’s quite common to see some grey discolouration along the gum line when having implants on the front teeth because it’s tricky to shape the gums. I’m surprised that your insurance wouldn’t cover a crown but would cover an implant :o

I actually have impacted canines myself, fortunately I never had to have the surgery because it was determined they were fine staying. Cannot explain the internal celebration that went on when my mom explained that they wouldn’t effect me and I didn’t need to have the surgery.
I love this- why this actually the smoothest animation tho! I love seeing dentists and doctors reactions to these types of things!

2:44 i had to get a tooth pulled out cause it was loose, it caught an infection because the nerve was like tangled inside it and wouldnt let it fall out, and even with the anesthesia when they ripped it out it hurt SO bad i dont blame her.
Sometimes when there is an infection the acidity of the infection can prevent the anaesthetic fully working, it’s pretty annoying :/
I needed a crown put on a tooth and the first round of anesthesia near the mouth didn’t help all that much
Turns out I have some crossover nerves, iirc, and he needed to inject me twice there

I remember I had to get a drill an fill, they used laughing gas which does nothing for me as a kid, but they used it so strongly that it kinda worked. I could barely walk but I saw a scared younger kid, I know I have fear but I wanted to let the kid feel that they had support by another patient that just got done, even though my mouth was throbbing with pain I smiled an said. "I'm fine, it doesn't hurt." I have no clue what else happened but I do hope I gave that kid a bit of a courage boost. It was like two centuries ago.
that's really nice of you! I tried the nitrous oxide when my wife was in the hospital for our baby and it can make you feel quite dizzy if you inhale a lot!

I've had 10+ surgeries in my life, mouth related surgeries are probably the scariest ones.
I was at the dentist for like a month ago in Sweden cuz there is where I live and that woman just dragged out my 3 tooth and the blood was like a waterfall my mom was so mad I never seen her like that help
we usually compress the sockets after extraction to help control the bleeding!

As a person who has braces I actually can an incident where on my gums there was like a little white thing that looked like paper it hurt when you moved it I eventually lost it but I’m good now my braces are helping me since I had a bad over bite

4:26 I actually had this before, BUTTT I needed to pull out 3 teeth out of my mouth instead of surgery..
When you talked about the teeth in the gums kinda I think you talked about that I had 4 teeth under my 4 baby teeth on the bottom and when I saw something white on my bottom teeth I was 7 when I saw it then 2 years later all of them came out after that a year later I had to have all my 4 baby teeth pulled out AND IT WAS THE WORST-
Today my teeth is gonna be pulled they will give local anesthesia and the doctor was soooo kind he even gave me a kiss before going
I had the oral surgery for my impacted canine and that chain gives me the heebie jeebies if I look at it.
The surgery isn’t that bad, but if you get the anesthesia like I did, the rest of the day is very dizzy and uncomfortable.

My tooth situation is a little close to Kaitlyn's when I was like 6 I think I was looking myself in the mirror in my mom's room then as I was playing with my face my young felt something hard behind my lower teeth so I opened my mouth and a saw a tooth behind my teeth standing there so when I showed my mom she took a pic of it then send it to my dad a few months later when I was chilling in my living room the tooth thats in from of the tooth behind my test began to wiggle I began to panicking cause everytime that tooth would wiggle my friends would see the tooth behind my teeth so I decided to a wear a mask to school everyday but one day as I was cleaning my room I was wiggling that tooth for no reason then there it is it fell out I showed it to my mom she was proud of me then the tooth that was behind my teeth is now standing with the other teeth
It’s great that it moved into place without braces
That happened to me I did not got surgery as it grows up my teeth in the gum I hate one doctor but one doctor to prepare really out of my teeth😊
I have an impacted canine and it’s taken more than just a “couple months” to put it in its place. Going on 4 years here soon 😭

I went to the dentist a month ago because a baby tooth was supposed to come out but it doesn't want to, so I went to the dentist. I wasn't scared at all, but my mom was dying in the chair. They gave me anesthesia and I couldn't eat for 2 hours.
I also have a bump there but I don't know if its the same thing as kaitlyn's I'm now scared :D

So I had two tooths that were baby tooths and another tooth was growing under it. Both of them were so bad that when they fell out the new tooth got stuck so now I need surgery. They say it is super serious and if it doesn’t get fixed my jaw can face serious problems. I’m scared because they will do (idk the name) where they give me a shot and put me to sleep? And I might not walk for a while.
Sounds like either general anaesthetic or in sedation , you need someone to take you home after because you can feel a little dizzy and disoriented for a while. But I’m sure your legs will still be working, they won’t break your legs :P
