A few years ago, you did a video on preparing for an earthquake. I'd love to see a video on preparing for a quick evacuation like this and tips for what you wish you had known before. So glad you and your family are safe!
Except that one was a drill this time it was not a drill. Unless Alex is that crafty. How do you make drill of heavy think black chary smoke, red glow, and dark black,/no lights, the smell must have been of burn ... and the drama outside.
@@christinab.2864 I agree and I don't think it's something you can practice for like you can with an earthquake. That video was good because you do need to teach kids what an earthquake is and feels like and what to do. That part probably doesn't apply here.
I'm wondering if there are things you can do to prepare for a quick evacuation though, like having a meeting spot or having a box of supplies ready to go. Now that they've been through this once, what do they recommend doing to be prepared?
@heatherPearson the truth is that you really can’t prepare for a disaster part of it can’t picture it in your mind of how it will play out but you have to think too if your assign to a fire escape but in the real fire that way may get burned out or smoked out than what??? You use the other escapes that’s what.

I remember I had to do a fire evacuation we stayed at my grandparents house. Here’s what I packed:
-My computer and phone
-2 t-shirts
-2 pairs of pants
-1 set of pajamas
-my tooth brush and deodorant
-my dog
-a jacket
-my library book
“My library book” 😂😂 dude sammeeee. I was evacuated last year from the fires in Utah and I stayed in SLC and I got one of my suit cases and just dumped my drawers in. I also brought paint and paper so I wouldn’t be bored lol. I was weird the sad thing is I will most probably be evacuated again at some point. Fires are really really common in my area
@@allyedunn I know that’s still sad but I saw some videos where people make a bag that has everything they need for 72 hours so they don’t have to pack in a rush
@@sherbert9858 yea I know and we now have those but we didn’t have them for some unexplained reason 😂. We actually have a 96 hour kit bc we never get evacuated for 3 days it’s always more

A tip from my departed grand-grandmother: If you have to leave your home (possibly forever) bring your photos! Everything else you may buy again but you can never get them back.
It has been ~75 years since they needed to leave their home with only what they could carry but I still get to enjoy her photos although I never met her.
As a modern tip: regularly do backups of your data and have the harddrive ready to go.
Also take your birth certificats and passports.
You can't buy kids.
That is a good tip though. I would definitely take photos and personal information.

Outside playing with my little sister and my friends and then we went inside of the house and told our dad that there was smoke coming out of the factory and a couple hours later police said evacuate. This video makes me so sad and brings back that memory 💔😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭

I love fords smile, he brings joy to the family and the channel during bad times.
That gotta suck it’s Elle birthday and their had to evacuated.
This year 1,000 of evacuees from California came to my home town and we had to go set up cots in the convention center! The whole kitchen staff worked 12 HOURS overtime to feed everyone. It was an extremely eye opening and gratifying experience. I’m glad that I could help everyone
I cannot even imagine how scary that must’ve been. God bless you guys

This reminds me of the story my dad told me of my great grandparents ♥♥ During a large large wildfire, they provided sandwiches to all of the firefighters, and the story made my heart melt!!

Thankfully, I live in a low bush area but my children are extremely worried and scared so I used your emergency tips from one of you older videos to help them feel prepared just in case we have to evacuate

I’m so glad you shot this and that everything worked out for you in the end. We have had so many cancelled days of school, and one day of housing evacuees. There’s something so eerie and surreal and tough about these fire days and red flag days. Like snow days but worse, I think.
It’s hard to mom when you’re also fearing for the safety of your home, your friends homes, your school and such. I feel like I’ve exhausted almost every momming on the fly tip I know, and we weren’t the ones evacuated. We are also so grateful for our first responders and school administrators who really kept us calmer, knowing they were giving this latest emergency situation all they had!
Now we’re closely watching the Burbank fires by Warner Bros. The air quality in the valley is one gray blanket for yet another week. 😢
I plan to post our top “fire day” kid friendly activities on my channel soon. For my kids, trying to focus on them (and not the news) and fun time together was the best distraction.

it’s looks like a massive wake up call for elle and her family. this just goes to show that you need to be prepared, especially if you live in fire prone areas. maybe you could make a video about how to prepare for such events?
