Just wanna say thank you for posting this. I just picked up a 240 and the wiring is an absolute mess. This will be super helpful when it comes time to cleaning it up!
Quick question. Currently wiring this to my 86 via can am box. Trying to figure out where to wire the Orange Start signal wire that originally goes to a fuse box on the KA. Any tips.
what does the red check engine light ground switch wire on the chassis connector to gauges go to??? is it to be used as the dummy light for the alternator to charge??
It goes to the check engine light on the dash in the 240sx. I ran it to a light I bought on amazon that I put in the delete plate on the dash. www.amazon.com/Taiss-Indicator-Engine-Yellow-F-010-FDJ-Y/dp/B097SDGDPY/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2MFQJYISJ1R15&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.PPSzVAmu-sJ6CeaHe6a8Mz5Wj0doYcz66_yeMVjRCEHy2t6ww6oZnpQhQH7T3KVKjwnl0_6Agvv8Vx1_SbUqQBmr2vWMhLRhIcC-MxPT7Wkt4Qa0256e-0W88MDPJV365Cbhr7d2STdApyxVc1xmzUd8rqoMF53LQ8l-ANI_w6Rn9Mjh2HJ-_lpCihGunnNy9xOR3PcVmLrlAqxHRzYUiYjGn9jh8IiEkGV2uxJNCYz_h9dhR2q2G6OL-AAdejomPGch2mCGN7MTo66lBWiicrq66hlHftryjh0_PY367uw.K1RrSAS6vHQQzHFIu0JFHBa_oN5-KN0hrzYKkoq1G9M&dib_tag=se&keywords=check%2Bengine%2Blight&qid=1718804097&sprefix=check%2Bengi%2Caps%2C174&sr=8-7&th=1
@@i2edeye awesome thank you very much, wiring my 710 wagon today with a ka24e... also the other red wire, from pin 46 on the ecu, does that get constant 12v?? like it goes straight to the battery with a fuse??
@@stavbersosa2458 The orange wire tells the ECU that the starter is spinning, it ties into the start signal wire from the ignition switch to the starter.
Is there any way i can get ahold of you? Your the only person that has shown this stuff. I am trying to get my ka24e engine running in a 77 620. I have the #11 box. And wiring is my worst subject.
I’m having a hard time understanding this. Haha. So do I need to only cut wires at the oem realy plugs and plug them into the can am box? I watched the video and read the diagram just don’t exactly understand where this can am box needs to be located
I do plan to film a complete install. It will be a while though as I don't have a swap and am waiting for a friend to get to that point in his build. If you get the wiring specialties plugs for the stock harness and the can/am box it is almost plug and play.
I recommend using the same size wire as factory minimum. 14 gauge is usually good for most things on the ka, maybe a bit on the big size but bigger is better than smaller.
I know this is a long shot but would anybody be willing to sell me one of those can am wiring boxes, the guy stopped making them and he said he doesn’t know if or when he’ll start making them again
I appreciate you posting this video, it was beyond help trying to identify one of them that I had no clue what was it for or where it goes
Glad to help :)

Orange wire is the start signal to the ecu, it goes to the starter signal wire (key start) and lets the ECU know the starter is turning.

Yes, that is what you are doing. It will be close to the ECU. I put mine on the package tray on the passenger side.

Dastin Motorsports had a used one for sale. It is easy enough to wire up to 3 relays, the can/am box just packages them nicely.
