I leave my freezer door open for one day when I’m impatient. Two days when I’m away for a weekend. 2 weeks if I’m away from home for a very long time. I left mine half open for 2 weeks and I got some huge roof pieces. They were literally like freezer frost bars. It took me ages to eat the whole freezer, but it was so worth it!!! It’s really just about patience when building original frost.

@@musu8052 My freezer literally looked like an ice cave! The taste was very strong and delish! I had my freezer on the highest setting so at some point the ice stopped producing and just froze.

These are described by some as "chalky." I absolutely love that texture. I don't hear a lot of those types of crunches in the ice community.

I was hoping to have slab and I’m happy I got to eat slab. I’m not sure if other people also have like powdery frost but as far as my freezer goes, I will only build thick slab and I have no problem with that 😂🤍🤍🤍

You only leave, your door ajar. And I usually have lots of ice after 5 days.. the door can only be open a little bit.. you can use a piece of paper folded. or a small cardboard

I was happy for that I had but yes I was willing to go more but stopped. Now I have more info from comment, I will try to build thick frost 🤩 I’m not sure if it’s the taste of my room or scent of my room. But it’s had no to notice🤣 Since I’m used to eat solid frost, I prefer HFF for as for taste but texture wise I love original frost! Thanks for the video, I think I’m a hff girl I love anything dry and powdery. I saw a video years ago to put a hanger in between the door of the freezer, so just a slight crack open and they had tons of different textures ❤

I leave mine open 24 hours for days except on laundry days (I shut it to avoid laundry taste). I scrape and pack it down at least once per day. I like to build the snow up as high as I can-then leave the door closed for a half day. I can dig out tons of dry squeaky chunks that way. 👍❄️ I watch your videos in between to get my frost fix 😂🥶thank you!

You're not supposed to leave it halfway open , barely an inch , that's how you build it up , I put a spoon in the top corner when I'm closing it , or a top

the seal of your freezer (the rubber gasket around the door) might be bent or slightly broken, allowing moisture to enter. for those who don't have that have to keep their freezers about an inch open 😊

Freeze the ice for a day & freeze your blender for 2 hours before blending it. Good luck ❤️
Also if you don’t want your powdery ice to be to soft you can refreeze it for a bit

I prefer humidifier frost the texture of these seems too hard in my opinion...the humidifier frost is crisp and squeaky so perfect and this is just not like that at all .
Actually they were so easy and satisfying to bite into. I love crunchy ice and I really love them textures 🤍
Build original frost and humidifier frost at the same time: first let the freezer door open for three days so it can build enough frost then let humidifier runing for the same amount of time and you will have alot of frost built in your freezer and both texture and flavor mixed together

I’m actually shocked you got as much as you did from that small length of time you had the door open…to get really good ole skool build up it going to about 3 wks with the door just barely cracked😉 you have to forget about the door being cracked 😉
I’m also surprised that I could see good thickness of frost in short time but so as I saw left wall melt, I felt like that’s the limit my freezer could hold and didn’t want roof and right wall frost melt. Now I feel I should close more. But wow! 3 weeks?! Hmmm maybe I should first give a try 1 week. You have such a real info! If you had so much negative things to say about original freezer frost, why did you bother trying it in the first place? Nobody forced you to try it, you took it upon yourself. You even said you weren’t too sure about trying it.
