As someone who speaks English and Spanish, I taught my daughter who's 2 English first because her dad doesn't speak as much Spanish as me so we started with English with our daughter and at about 1 year old, she started catching on with Spanish. So I taught her English first because I wanted her and my husband to be able to communicate with each other. And I can teach her Spanish and it's been great since she's still so young so it's easier to teach.
As a childhood educator they can learn both at the same time. Your way is fine also the window of them learning it early start running down by the age of 7. But the brain grows the fastest from birth to 5 years get it all in.
You guys are amazing parents, and baby Alijah is so blessed to have such amazing parents!!! Keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing you all journey!❤❤
I hate when people say things like this, like you look good for having a kid as if becoming a mom makes you ugly, just because your body changes doesn't mean you're ugly..matter of fact a lot of men love when their lady's body becomes more curvey and womanly after having a child. Women should feel beautiful and even stronger after having a baby. A new found confidence..I wish that's how women felt after having a baby
You guys are so genuine and awesome !! My baby is four months and watching these videos have been everything in the process!! God bless your beautiful family!!!
I think I agree with Anthony on the whole "teaching the baby English first" thing. English is way harder than Spanish. I think since Ana can fluently speak both English AND Spanish, she should leave this one to Ant. Trying to teach the kid two languages at the same time causes issues too. The kid comes out wanting to speak half a sentence in one language and finish it in another. The kid will learn English in school but for now I'm sure Ant would like to have some little convos with his son.
@@maybayjams I struggled to learn it since my mother was super pushy about me learning both simultaneously. Luckily I learned English first and then became fluent in Spanish so I mastered both. 👌🏻
To be honest with you. Since d baby is in an English speaking environment, not learning spanish initially will be a big mistake. He may end up growing up without really speaking fluent spanish. Since the only person that will be aroind her always that speeks spanish is the mom. The mom is most likely goimg to bow to the presure of having only English speakers around. I have seen this happen. I do not speak my mother tongue cos dad insisted I learn english first. I picked up English and the street language at the same time, but cant speak my mother tongue. Fortunaty my wife does. So i have insisted that my wife raises our daughter in my mother tongue. She can learn English from school. My mom only speaks her mother tongue because her dad insisted on no english at home. No one else spoke it around apart from at home. So it would have been difficult for her to learn it later if not for grand dad's insistence
@@maybayjams All babies are same. It is as they age that differences start to come. If a baby grows up in and environment where 10 languages are spoken, he will pick all 10. That's the way babies are. My late Archbishop (in Nigeria) spoke 11 languages and learned them naturally (not by going to a language school). That because he frequently travelled at a young age from one multi cultural society to another, so he picked all the languages in these different societies
As someone who speaks both languages with 3 kids. The way I did it was exactly the way Ana explained it. I taught my kids Spanish first and then let school teach them English. The reason for this is because as they grow they will prefer English more than spanish but at least spanish was embedded in them first. I still speak to my kids in spanish at home while they speak in English at school. I do this so they don't forget how to speak it properly.
This is how my parents taught me. Spanish as my first language but of course English is my main now from school and all that. I speak Spanish fluently and English as well. I’m now 30 weeks pregnant and will be doing the same to my kid
With my daughter, I speak in English all the time and my husband who is from Spain speaks Spanish all the time and it has worked perfectly for us. However, I am half dominican so naturally when I'm angry the Spanish comes out 😂😂😂
With the Spanish and English problem Anthony Ana is absolutely right it’s best if him to learns Spanish first trust me once they start going to school it’s hard for them to speak Spanish as a second language ❤
That's pretty valid but I kind of disagree because even tho ant is also learning Spanish and is good, what if he doesn't know some and what if his family wants to communicate, ant family dont know Spanish and ana family knows some English so yea-
My husbands mom is 100% Puerto Rican and his dad is 100% American. My husband was taught Spanish as his first language(his maternal grandma also only speaks Spanish). He was taught English later in school and now if you were to look at him you would think he’s American but he comes out with the Spanish like no other! ❤️ Also it’s good to know and understand a 2nd language so they can get better job opportunities here in America! Edited to add: we have 3 kids and my husband has not spoken Spanish to any of them but their Abu(Abuela) has spoken plenty of Spanish to them, they only know some words and sometimes when their Abu talks they get it but I wish he would have taught them all Spanish first! We have a 6 month old so I’m going to tell him to start only talking Spanish to him, it’s so beneficial.
I'm with ant on the language thing. English is factually the hardest language to learn. So many words that are pronounced the same but with different meanings. But I DEFINITELY agree having him bilingual... 💙💙

Spanish first. Taking from a mom of 7. My kids are mad at me because they don't speak it any Spanish. My daughter is a nurse, and if she knew Spanish, they would pay her more money. And of course it is my fault.. Ant can talk to him in English and you can talk to him in Spanish.. The best of both worlds!
The question about Alijah learning Spanish stuck out to me cause I’ve been rewatching old videos and I remember the prank where Ana called Anthony’s mom the B word and the argument in that prank was if their future baby would learn Spanish or English first, so I find it funny that it’s actually happening now with no one calling anyone the B word of course 😂😂😂
Me as an Hispanic ! I thought the same way as Ant I wanted to learn English first . But actually it great to learn Spanish why ?? Because we don’t need (no sabo kid) . It great for them ! When they get older they don’t stuggle Spanish as they get old . As kids they learn anything fast… when my kids got to school they learn English fast ! But maybe kids learned different idk!! My opinion ❤
Can I just say that Ana looks so amazing... Like baby Alijah has literally brought only good things to their lives... I'm really happy to see you guys relationship blossom so well.
The number one thing I would teach him would be to love and fear God (the type of fear that keeps u from burning your hand off on the stove)…so that Jesus takes him to the highest level ❤❤ I am so happy for your little family!
Great video guys I would say the hardest part of being a parent for me is how fast they grow up my babies are 18 boy. I agree with Ant. He is going to an English speaking school and not knowing English will make it hard for him at first. He will eventually learn Spanish. Kids learn and pick up quickly.
I don’t have kids lol but my friends tell me they individually speak to the kids in their separate languages (English & Spanish) so their kids could grow up learning both simultaneously. Maybe that could work for you guys as well

To make matters easier, children can learn 2 languages at the same time. Mom can speak spanish to the baby, while others can speak english. He will learn both at the same time
My mum is from Poland and my dad is from India and I was born in UK. I personally think that it’s best to talk in your own language to your child as it will benefit in the future for them. My mum from day 1 spoke to me in Polish and today I’m very thankful for that as I am able to communicate with family and go to Poland without hesitation. My dad however spoke to me always in English and as a child I already knew that to my dad I speak in English and with my mum in Polish. My dad regrets it till today that he didn’t teach me his language and it’s sad as I can’t communicate with my grandparents well. When your child will go to school, they will learn English very quickly and the child will use the language in the house but it’s important to respond in your language so they don’t forget. Kids are very smart and learn things very quickly. In the future they might not want to speak in Spanish.
My niece is 5 right now her first language was spanish, when she went to preschool she started talking more english and now she is fully bilingual comfortably speaking both languages
I’ve always heard it’s best to incorporate both languages at the same time around your child while they’re young because they catch on a lot quicker with their young but brilliant minds. I started learning Spanish in high school and in my opinion it’s much harder than learning the English language. I think part of that as well is in high school, Spanish teachers are trying to teach us all the nouns, verbs, and different variations of ways to say something properly , but I’ve also spent time around Spanish speaking families and they don’t speak “properly” all the time the way I was taught. So it was difficult for me. Of course everyone’s parenting will be different and obviously that’s more than okay! You guys are a beautiful family btw! 😊
I’m bilingual I speak English and Portuguese. My first language was English and at home my mom always spoke Portuguese to me. I’m fluent in Portuguese now and am grateful my mom kept up with it with me. Now as an adult, I still speak Portuguese to my mom and help her with her English. My opinion is English first, so that going to school is easier. Now that’s just my opinion though. You do what is best for you and baby A. Love ya’ll
Yall are amazing parents I definitely agree with yall definitely want better for your kids I install that in my daughter everyday thank you for sharing your life with us love you guys
My nephews have been wearing English and Spanish. But they speak English but they know Spanish they just don’t say it but they know it but they speak English
I'm a mommy and a teacher! You all should look into dual language immersion pre-k and regular schools. They have schools that do half the day in English and half the day in Spanish. Thank me later :)
English is one of the hardest languages to learn because all of the grammatical rules and the spelling and pronunciations irregularities. Maybe English first because of that and because dad speaks English. I would hate to not be able to communicate with my child due to a language barrier. But you guys are the parents so it’s ultimately something you 2 need to decide together.
Where did you get that cup from Anna cuz I've been trying to look for that where did get from and what it's called because I've been seeing them kind of Cups all over the internet at school and I'm trying to get it myself
As someone who speaks English and Spanish, I taught my daughter who's 2 English first because her dad doesn't speak as much Spanish as me so we started with English with our daughter and at about 1 year old, she started catching on with Spanish. My opinion is English first, so that going to school is easier. Now that’s just my opinion though. You do what is best for you and baby A. Love ya’ll
You're literally the prettiest girl ever you're gorgeous I love yall
Yall are amazing parents I definitely agree with yall definitely want better for your kids I install that in my daughter everyday thank you for sharing your life with us love you guys
My nephews have been wearing English and Spanish. But they speak English but they know Spanish they just don’t say it but they know it but they speak English
I'm a mommy and a teacher! You all should look into dual language immersion pre-k and regular schools. They have schools that do half the day in English and half the day in Spanish. Thank me later :)
Anna you look even more beautiful. Your glowing, your skin looks Iooks great. I just love you both! Such a power couple.
