- Death Stranding introduces a number of concepts and gameplay mechanics on top of each other, and one of the most important to understand is the weather systems. Chief among these is Timefall, a dangerous type of rain that degrades items you're carrying much faster than usual--as if time itself is moving faster. Death Stranding releases on Playstation 4 on November 8th, 2019 and is coming to the PC in the summer of 2020.
Death Stranding introduces and layers a number of concepts and gameplay mechanics on top of each other, and one of the most important to grasp and manage is the weather systems. Chief among these is Timefall, a dangerous type of rain that degrades items you're carrying much faster than usual--as if time itself is moving faster.
In the video above, we take a closer look at how the Timefall system works and how to best manage it--from finding shelter in the early game to cargo loading strategies. You can't ever make yourself totally impervious to Timefall, but as the game progresses you'll find yourself much more capable at handling yourself in it.
But degrading equipment isn't the only threat posed by the weather in Death Stranding. In addition to Timefall management strategies, we also go over what it means when you see the clouds turn dark and inky (hint: nothing good) and how to navigate the treacherous snowy mountains to the north. I built my First time shelter thing i don‘t know whats the english name for it and as i stood underneath i there was the Option to Skip time in 10 Minute steps to wait Till the rain ends. Since then the Option to Skip 10 Minuten just isn‘t possible any More at least i don‘t Know How. I would really aprecciate some help

@@gilgameshthetreasurehunter2750 Ah you mean realistically, well I figure you just have to replace the outside exposed to the timefall. Its said in game that timefall turns back into normal water after it touches something, so you don't have puddles of this stuff everywhere. Only danger is if it erodes holes into things where normal water will then get to sensitive electronic parts.

@@starman6392 its impossible to predict because the game randomly give you orders depending on your location, anyway. i picked up a special delivery from west lake distribution center to wind farm house.

Don't go for caves, just use the repair spray, 9 times out of 10 the only damage is timefall which can be repaired with the spray. Make sure to keep 2 on you at all times.

Seeing more about the actual mechanics of the game has downgraded this from a maybe to a massive no. I was willing to give it a chance, but the "timefall" system is taking the concept of annoying weapon durability/breaks to the max. Never mind the "Overencumbered - The Game" aspect.
Nothing will break. Timefall won't destroy anything as long as you don't have your stuff sit in it for hours. The obstacle that timefall presents is that you want your stuff under cover, or else they will get damaged and you'll get less likes when you deliver. That's it.
How weather works: It's always raining where you need to go and will never stop no matter how long you wait.
Exactly, game knows where you going, what is main mission where is so much lost cargo, its raining exactly there … exactly

The Rainsuit is made out of plastic because plastic is non-biodegradable therefore time cannot kill via rain/Timefall

One of the best games I’ve ever played. Been playing it non stop since release. This game had the least amount of bugs I’ve ever seen in a game at launch. I still haven’t noticed one bug since launch. Amazing game, a true gem to be cherished.

Jason dp I can honestly tell you, I bought this game on pure trailer and Kojima hype. I went full in and got the collectors edition. I was 5 days late to the party but I can’t tell you how many times I second guessed my purchase based off reviews alone. Then I got the game. I hear the comments of walking simulator but there really is a certain tension and calmness to this game. I’m nearing the end of chapter 2 and I’m having a blast. Most reviews say it doesn’t even get kicked off until chapter 3 or 4. I can recommend this game. I got the new modern warfare for the high paced itch I get but DS builds tension and really has an interesting story. I mentioned I’m only in chapter 2 and here I am at work on break itching to get home and trek miles while getting chased and harassed by BT’s and Mules. Get this game.
@@jasondp3546 the only way to find out if this game is really for you is by playing it. Its very slow paced specially at the start. I loved it, but it ain't everybodies cup of thea that is for sure. Those other 2 games are way faster paced and more action rpgs. If you liked new vegas you will feel right at home with outer worlds

Some finish some don't. I'd say sleep for 10 minutes 6 times. Then look will it rain in 30 minutes. If it still does, it means it won't stop
I'm playing on hard mode, so I wonder how else that affects my game. Been having a blast so far, it was pretty awesome to finally see a weather forecast.

The reasons why raincoats dont age and degrade is because they are probably made of Polyurethane or Polyethylene and that takes like thousands of years to degrade. That being said, they probably do degrade, just WAY slower than most things.
The timefall shelters actually restore the container damage done by timefall.

@@lemming9984 it doesn't work on vehicles, unfortunately. But if you stand under a shelter long enough, you'll start seeing the containers being fixed, similar to when you spray them to fix.
Head over any base with an acessible garage, use terminal, head down to garage and change the color of any piece on your vehicle then accept the changes and it fixes/recharges your vehicle without having to go into the private room. Simple but super handy when you want to save some time.
Oh and don't worry aboyt fixing your ride with cargo in it, once you accept the respray the cargo stays in the vehicle so you can keep on moving.
2:18 dafuq?! I just finished the game at 81 hours of playtime (accuracy uncertain), and I don't have that sweet ass backpack cover thing. Who gives that? Windfarm maybe? I don't think I ever went back there

I feel the only way this game works is because Hideo Kojima made it. He's a master story-teller and epic at writing good endings, so I like to think if I complete this game, a pot of gold is waiting for me at the end of a long rainbow.

Timefall speeds up time on objects it touches, and over time those objects degrade. His jumpsuit is obviously made of a plastic, or perhaps even something like a composite plastic with tellurium-128 which will never decay in the lifetime of the universe.

Nelo Angelo yeah, how this video missed explaining that is a big deal- I don’t think anyone really cares how the natural weather system works. A lot of of the main story Deliveries are intentionally forcing you to go into tricky situations (time fall weather, areas with tricky geography, MULEs or BTs) in order to set the mood and play into the story dynamics. Basically you have to keep moving and play through the boobytraps.
Check the weather forecast. If you don't see a clear weather in that region in 30 minutes, that region is likely to have permenant timefall.

Awesome, exactly the video I've been looking for :) I almost gave up on this game after my boxes were constantly destroyed by the Timefall. Walking in this game is clunky as fuck, not fun at all for me, especially when you're loaded at like 70+% but I want to know more about this story and world so I will keep pushing.
Keep on keeping on! Once you get you upgraded gear the game becomes addictive

Time fall = basically just a fancy Japanese 🇯🇵 name for acid rain.
Except acid rain degrades anything cause it's acid, this only ages stuff, so stuff like plastic (the clothing you wear) won't actually melt off you!

Check your map. If there’s a black patch on it below the Distribution Center, then that’s what you’re looking for. Also pro tip: keep doing his quests and collect lost cargo for him even if the metre won’t budge, it’s not a bug, he’s hard coded to not budge until he receives a few lost cargos. Try the Mule postboxes to the right.

Sorry, I wasn’t on the game so I couldn’t give you specifics. So you need to go to Distro centre south of lake Knot city. Almost directly further south in the annoying rocky area, youll find a prepper shelter by the collector. Use your scanner and the L1 mode and it should be in the crevasse but not all the way down. You’ll need a climbing rope or a ladder to get to him.
Don’t give up giving him any lost cargo you find in the world and read his emails and even sleep to get more emails. The 3rd star gives you a silver cover and the 4th star is a gold cover.
I’m not sure but be careful not to get the 4th and 5th star in one delivery or he might not give you the cover. This happened to me when I was trying to get the Weather talisman from the weather station and instead of giving me the talisman he gave me a star for my pants so just watch out for that.

Something I don't understand, not about timefall itself but about the general advices everyone seems to give regarding cargo and degredation.
A lot of peoples on RUclips say that we should use a repair spray right before delivering the cargo to a prepper...Why?
Repair spray only regenerates the container, not what's inside it and I'm pretty sure the state of the container doesn't count toward the rating of your delivery (I always get the maximum amount of likes, even when I have a pristine cargo contained into a completely ruined container).
I'm sure there is a reason but I fail to understand it, if someone can explain it to me, feel free to do so.
Right now I'm using repair spray to restore the containers right after I leave a timefall area.
Since the container's state seems to affect the amount of damage the cargo takes I usually use this item to reduce the potential damage if they end up taking any but I really see no benefits into using the repair spray immediately before delivering the cargo.
Raincoats and buildings don't deteriorate because they are coated in timefall resistant chiralium. The process is difficult that's why not everything has chiralium coating.
My truck got destroyed due to reckless driving near the cosplayer, wasted about an hour picking up all the sh*t

if the rain is deadly enough that it can make anything it touches rapidly age then i dont think a hood over your head would be a very good means of protecting yourself from it...
The only thing i hate about time fall, if your cruising on the trike you come to complete stop not once, but twice for little cut scenes you don't need.

More often than not it's better to just sleep in your private room if you want to wait out the rain, waiting it out while being awake can take quite some time. After a while you unlock a tool that can forecast the weather, and then you can plan accordingly, but until then just look up at the sky. If you see the reverse rainbow, that means it's raining.
As for the cargo, offload everything you have first, and start stacking up your cargo with the more important ones first, that will mean they will end up at the bottom of your cargo backpack.

yes, but the box itself isn't. Meaning the inside stuff can get damaged easier, but won't get damaged by timefall
What I don't understand is if time fall is water how is he able to drink the water and not age his insides
The truth I heard that over time the water becomes normal and fine to drink like the rivers you see
It is explained in the game that the rain water loses it's timefall effect after it touched something the first time...then it becomes just regular rain water.
What I don't understand is how the hell the canteen that you're using turns all water into Monster Energy Drink...

Man this game is the most polarizing game of the century
If you hold L2+R2 the entire time you play, the rain is useless as you'll never fall. So the timefall damaged container means jack. Only time I had Sam fall, was tying to ramp over a gap in the ground. This also make timefall shelters useless. :(

It reasonably hits the ballpark of their explanation. Read more about time fall for your understanding. They have put much thought in making of the game; agreed death is a consequence if exposed for too long. The rain itself is harmless although it significantly accelerates aging.
