when your in the public eye and make money for getting views you have to expect to take alittle heat from people and they wont always agree with your point of view. Its like a politician saying his personal opinions are none of your business when his job nature makes it your business. I don't agree with how he treats his equipment but doesn't mean I or anyone else shouldn't say anything. Some of us love watching his vlogs but hate how he treats his equipment. Maybe its my ocd nature towards taking care of things.

what irritates me more than the "careless" use of equipment is the "doesn´t work - buy a new one"attitude. are really all the drones in the cemetry beyond fixing? it´s not about envy or the high cost of new stuff, it just seems weird to throw gear away if just one part is broken.

Casey's reasoning and logic for broken equipment is on point. If he treated his equipment like royalty and took all the precautions to not allow a single scratch on them I doubt he'd be able to record and produce as much material as he does in his daily vlogs. He would see an instant drop in quality. They should be tools for producing his art and not precious items that become limited of their full potential.

I get that you use your equipment very intensive, but what about *repairing* it? That last drone could've been repaired right? Or do you buy a new one so you don't have to wait? (No offense ofcourse, just wondering :) )
Cause if you're doing it for the repair-time, send one of your old drones to a 'repair-shop' and wait for it to be done -> so that you have a 'back-up' for when you crash another drone :)

One thing i admire about you casey is that you actually use all your gear that you have despite its cost. If you have the means to afford replacing the things you break then why not. Even if you dont, it shows the company that made that product what they should probably work on to improve their product.
Love the drone footage
I do notice that a lot of creators break a lot of equipment because they are always ready in the moment to record what they need for their videos. However, I disagree with Casey in which he makes it seem that it's the reason why he breaks so much equipment. He's lucky enough to keep buying and buying equipment that is over 1,000. He could easily create the same content just being more careful, he always tosses things, slams things and it seems almost like he doesn't care about the equipment because he has the cash to replace it.
I do understand that now he is in a position where he values time more than money. He needs to keep things moving and he would rather just replace broken equipment because it's faster than fixing and because he can. One day when I can replace everything I break right away I will think of Casey and say I did it.
If you see in one of his vlogs, Casey finally receives his Canon 5D which he sent to canon for repair which cost him like a $1000 or more. Don't get the wrong idea that he replaces broken equipment always. Some times he does replace but on other occasions he gets it repaired. He is a true repairman if you ask me. Look at all his tools!

Definitely agree about the drone usage, sometimes you want to take it out just for special moments and you miss amazing opportunities and shots in-between.
So basically he's saying if you have enough money it doesn't really matter... P.S I love Casey and his videos are great but that does not mean i will always agree with him.
I think he's just saying that if you work hard and work towards being really good at your craft - you can eventually have the money to buy the gear you want/need several times over. My vlog is just a hobby, and I've saved up a lot of money to buy the gear I have. I wouldn't risk it the way he does.
People are in the wrong mind of thinking. It's his job it's probably a business expense he accounts for at the end of the year. His job(income) takes a hit if he doesn't get good shots, those shots are probably "valued" more than any piece of equipment he can break and replace.

He does it on purpose on camera. Look at the way he opens his packages. As much as I love his vlogs, I'm with everyone else that gets infuriated watching him purposely mishandle things, seemingly to make content out of it. No one is angry that he crashes a drone in a tree, or breaks a camera falling off a skateboard. People are angry that he drops them while opening them, slams them around while packing, and throwing things around because he can just afford another one.

I'm not really sure that I agree that he gains any views from doing it, but whatever it is he feels he gains from it, I definitely think he does it knowingly. How else do you explain sewing up old jeans, and just the general theme of repurposing and building things yourself, yet throwing around everything that is either given to him(mailtime) or that is expensive. Personally I think he's just lost a bit of touch now that he is doing so well, and he thinks he's portraying a cool, no care attitude. To me, it's the only part of his vlogs I hate.

A fair counterpoint is that there are war photographers that don't go through cameras/lenses as fast as Casey does, and they have much higher demands on them and their equipment than he does, and don't baby their equipment either.
But, like he said, at the end of the day it's his money and his equipment. Some people just look for things to get upset over. I do wonder if Casey has Photographer/Videographer insurance though to cover his equipment, and if not, why not?
+Chris Herr Eh, sure, most war/journalism photogs are using 1D or 5Dmkii/iii - Casey is using an 80D which also has a mag chassis and is weather sealed. So, while a 1D/5D are /more/ durable, it's not an order of magnitude difference, and Casey isn't in Syria or Iraq. At the end of the day, Casey is using professional gear too.
No war/journalism photogs are toting around film video cameras anymore.

Matthew Ward It might be invalid in your opinion, but only in your opinion. While I don't really care what Casey does with his equipment, or money, the point still stands that without impacting his video making he could take better care of his equipment.
Yes, he does have the luxury of being able to pop into a store and just buy new gear, but broken gear also takes time out of work. It halts the process, and there is no way to know what's missed when, instead of being out filming, he's making yet another trip to a camera store.
