A choice that I applaud. As much as I appreciate the efforts to perfect a young Luke Skywalker in a couple of the other series, I understand and approve of the decision to revert back to the actual actor playing himself playing the role he created. There were three people who wore the Vader suit in the show. It was not always Hayden. For the final episode, it was Hayden Christiansen himself. In the flashbacks, they surprisingly did NOT use any deaging on Hayden, just makeup. If you go back to those scenes, you'll be able to see the aging in his face. It is subtle, but it is there.
Also, Liam Neeson trolled the entire Fandom. In an interview weeks before the show began, he said no one had called him, but that regardless he is a movie actor, and that doing a 'TV show' was beneath his talents. Haha, the ultimate troll!

The last thing he calls Anakin is “Darth”, a title, not his name. The same thing he calls him in their final duel in A New Hope. And his line “Then my friend is truly dead” is a callback to when Luke tells Vader “Then my father is truly dead” in Return Of The Jedi.

    • @PlumbPitiful

It should be pointed out that in the very very beginning back in the mid 70s when George Lucas was first writing his first Star Wars script Darth WAS his name, not a title! This was long before Lucas decided that Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker would be the same person. Originally Darth Vader was going to be the traditional bad guy of the story. That's why Alec Guinness called him Darth

You hit the head on the crocked nail that is Reva. They try to make us sympathetic for her but she still joined the same enemy that murdered the very people she is now trying to avenge & by that same enemy's side she is hunting down & killing even more Jedi & Force sensitives, including children, herself! How do you avenge your own by joining their killer & hunting down your own? How is that justice by becoming your own enemy, being just as terrible? Reva, as a kid, had a choice. She could have fled &, like may others, have fought against the Empire still on the Light Side. But she chose to be evil, tossed away everything the Jedi had taught her, for the selfish need for revenge. Anakin may be so much more evil on the Dark Side but his turn took a decade of manipulation, persuasion, desperation & feeling excluded from the Jedi. And in the end he did not have that much of a choice. Reva had far more choices & no one persuaded her to be evil. In my eyes, Reva is far worse by comparison. And this story STILL does not explain HOW Reva can know that Vader is Anakin! No one inside the Temple calls Anakin Lord Vader. And she never witnessed his physical transformation. So that she knows what original lore firmly says no one in the Empire should know besides Vader & Palpatine is a major plothole that makes zero sense. How she can survive being stabbed by a lightsaber - twice - is also total BS & makes her character even worse. And how could she get so fast to Tatooine with no ship around? And how can she get revenge by killing Luke? Again, the story does not at all explain how she can connect Luke with Vader. All the scrambled message from Bail she heard tells her that there is a boy on Tatooine in Owen's care that is important to Obi & Bail. And that "he" must not know of the boy. "He" could be any male in the galaxy. How can she, again, just guess that this is Anakin? Not only can Reva figure out that Vader is Anakin without any information, now she also knows from thin air that Vader has at least one kid & now she knows where that kid is & can get over there without any ship available when she realistically should be very dead. And Vader does not know of Luke for another decade. Since Reva is supposed to be so damn clever why does she think Vader would let his kid be taken cared of by simple folk on Tatooine? And why would Bail Organa speak secretively to Obi about it? Killing Luke now would mean nothing to Vader. What would Reva intend? March up to his castle door on Mustafar with Luke's body & show Vader what she did? Luke would just be some unknown kid to Vader at this point, killing him would mean nothing to Vader since he has no idea he has two kids at this time. Reva goes after Luke because the SW AUDIENCE knows how important Luke is! But plot-wise it makes absolutely no sense why she should kill Luke & how that would bring her any justice. The writers are beyond stupid & ignorant. Reva could have been amazing but they turned her into the opposite. Such a waste. And why does Obi allow her to just walk away with the knowledge of Luke & his exact location? If the Empire finds Reva alive & makes her talk Luke is done! Why in Jabba's butt hole would anyone take that risk!? By making Reva know the biggest secrets of the galaxy on both sides the whole OT lore is all F-ed up. The Lucasfilm morons did not do their homework, nor do they care that they didn't. It was far more important having a black actress in this thing than giving her a meaningful character to play that adds to the lore instead of tearing it apart.

(Why didn't he just say "I was on Utapau, attacked by clones"?) And therefore she serves Vader, hunts all remaining Jedi, tries to kill them, chops hands off and tortures a child to find the Rebels? She is a horrible person and I cheered when she was stabbed...but then she lived.

With Darth Vader being the dark side that was hidden and now in full controll of him. Now that we know Palpatine/plaques is kind of his father using the force but also the force itself created him, as why he has no father, which George said is like the virgin mary.

Generally the jedi's lightsabers were set to a reduced power level for training - they obviously didnt want to accidentally kill each other in practise. So the 'sabers could sting but they wouldn't cut. And I approved of just using makeup to smooth out both Ewan's and Hayden's features rather than de-aging cgi. Facial CGI isnt a perfect system yet and it doesnt handle expression at all well. It was more important that you see their real faces than to just pretty them up with fake skins.

About Reeva and her cartoonishly evil behavior:
It's all about the philosophy of the dark side. The Sith gain all of their power from destructive emotions. Fear, envy and pain.
That's one of the reasons why Vader could not survive, after he saved Luke at tRoftJ.
He had a whole mechanical suit to keep him alive, despite all of is terrible injuries, for all these years. But, what truly kept him going was his constant, never ending pain, hate and regret. Those were the source of his power. His connection to the dark side.
Now, let's watch on Reeva in this point of view. It's not told at wich point in her life she joined the Inquisitors.
What we know is that they all looked down on her. So it could have been in an early age of hers. And they kept her down, they used her low self esteem to feed her ruthlessness and her brutality...and that was her connection to the dark side.
So, I think all of those people she killed, all of the misery and suffering has been nothing more but a tool to her. Because she was trained that way, for most of her life.

Since you were talking during the conversation between Obi Wan and Reva, you talked over the key line that reveals Reva's motivation. Obi Wan said "You're not serving him, are you. You're hunting him." As misguided and circuitous as Reva's plan is, she has put herself in a position to get close to Vader for the purpose of choosing her moment to kill him. In her mind, she would never be able to get close enough to Vader to accomplish her betrayal unless she became Grand Inquisitor and literally stood by his side. Her hate toward Obi Wan was because she holds him responsible for Anakin becoming Vader, due to Obi Wan's flawed training of him as a padawan, and for not stopping his rampage at the Jedi Temple.

    • @daniellanctot6548
      @daniellanctot6548 2 года назад +3

Yeeeah... So Reva’s plan was to be close enough to Anakin to kill him, because he killed the Jedi in the fall of the Republic. To be close enough she had to become Grand Inquisitor. And to become Grand Inquisitor she had to... *Help to hunt down AND KILL the Jedi* that Anakin didn’t get to kill the day the Republic fell. [Insert “Awkward Look Monkey Puppet” here]

    • @tofersiefken
      @tofersiefken 2 года назад +1

@@daniellanctot6548 Agreed, but that's why I labeled her plan as misguided and circuitous. Also, based upon what she could hear in the damaged recording from Bail Organa, she knew of "the boy" or "the children" and was able to identify the planet of Tatooine as well as "Owen" whom she had met. But she had no way of knowing that the child was Vader's. So did she assume Luke was just some random force sensitive kid who had a connection to Obi Wan? Or did she assume he was connected to Bail Organa and deduce a familial connection with Leia? Her motivation for returning to Tatooine was a little vague to me.

Screw this series. Vader orders the entire ship to turn around for Obi-Wan, letting the rebels go, (instead of using a magnetic beam, or sending tie-fighters, or just keep firing...)... but ends up getting into his shuttle and flying after it himself , thus missing out on the rebels for no reason at all. Obi-Wan trusts Leia to some random rogue who has already seeded his transmitter...
The duel with Vader is miserable. They wave their swords like baseball bats in episode 9, and the Force has generally turned into an anime - they crush rocks and make craters in the ground, but they can’t break each other’s bones in the same way ... they can withstand the blows of multi-ton boulders ... Obi-Wan, without jokes, becomes a god thanks to the power of friendship and lifts weight much more than Yoda ... at some point he hits Vader with the HILT of the sword ... cuts his back, but that doesn’t paralyse him ... and most importantly, he doesn’t finish him off for the second time, although he himself said his friend is dead...
Vader does not call the cruiser to shoot down Obi-Wan's ship, but it turns out that he has a hyperdrive, which makes the whole last episode even more pointless, since he and Leia could fly to Alderaan on it all this time already at the end of episode 4 .. .
Owen and Beru do not set any traps for Reva in the doors, they only shoot her one at the time, do not catch up with her on a speeder, do not evacuate on the speeder, do not call the local police, the same Jabba the Hutt (with the promise of money), and Luke is advised to run on foot into the desert, to the Tuskens...
Apparently Vader just left Reva a ship…Reva with a hole in her HEART can easily fight, run and carry weights ... And finally, she, who cuts off the hands of all those who disagree, throws knives at people, kills everyone in her path, hunts the Jedi trying to kill them, tortures a 10-year-old child , suddenly cannot kill Luke, because he sees himself in him (but not in Leah) ... by the way, why? Does she know he's Vader's son? How?
And Obi-Wan forgives her, although he saw what she was doing and Tala died because of her...
Now the whole Empire knows that Bail Organa communicates with Obi-Wan, they are looking for him all over the galaxy, but at the same time Obi-Wan quietly flies to Alderaan to chat with Leia...
Obi-Wan communicates with Luke, although Owen told him in A New Hope that he died at the same time as his father ... Qui-gon, it turns out, can appear without any meditation, but the whole series did not do this ...
As a result - Obi-Wan, Owen, Beru, Bale failed their missions to protect children, and they are only alive because the Empire and Vader are even more incompetent, and Reva suddenly became kind ... and now we are waiting for a series about her ... Thank you Disney, now you've ruined every single character in the original trilogy. Star Wars is long dead, and there's no more room for nails in the coffin.

The reason Reva went for Luke was because Anakin took her famly (the younglings and more murdered) and so she decided to do the same to him and kill his family. That's the 2nd time Obi-wan has beat Anakin/Vader and walked away without either of them dying. Imagine what that did to Vader's ego and everything. This series was ok. I always thought that this series would focus more on Obi-wan's life on Tatooine and watching over Luke in his own way. In the Star Wars Episode 3 book, Obi-wan said that he would stay on Tatooine to look after Luke. Yoda asks "as a father figure?" And Obi-wan said " No, more like a crazy uncle" and he said it with a smile. That's a little bit of what I expected to see. The different ways Obiwan would do that without interfering too much with Luke's Aunt and Uncle raising Luke.

Well, Duaffy, clearly, you realize Reva was targeting Luke just to get revenge on Anakin for what he did. But, if you really think bout it, in other cases, there’s more to killing the child of an enemy than just revenge. Ever since even bible times, people have been killing not only their enemies but the children of those enemies as well. Why? Good question. Thank you for asking. Those people saw those children as just as much of competition, just as much of enemies, and just as much of pests as the people see the children’s predecessors. It’s the same way wit animals. Take lions and hyenas for example. They have had so much beef wit each other that they themselves will stoop so low as to killing each other’s young just to avoid competition in the future just like humans did. Remember the Lion King? If you ever saw that movie, that is. The reason those hyenas tried to kill Simba and Nala was cuz since lions are their sworn enemies, so was Simba and Nala. If the hyenas had the actual chance of killing those two, they would have eliminated two future rivals. You remember Gladiator? When Commodus ordered Maximus and his family to be executed, you wanna know why he was targeting the family as well? Since Maximus was clearly against Commodus, if you really think bout it, so would the son and wife be. If the son had not been killed, he would’ve grown up and rebelled against Commodus, especially over his attempt to have Maximus executed. And, I don’t blame Commodus for not wanting to have that. I also remember you had bullies. Now, imagine, just imagine for one minute, if those bullies ever had the chance of conceiving a kid or kids of their own, you wouldn’t want those would be kids to be just as much of a pain in your ass as their predecessors were, would you? If you killed those kids, you would have eliminated some rivals that you would have had to deal wit in the future. That’s mainly why everybody back then and the animals that feud wit each other have been going round and killing kids. In any of those scenarios, it was either do or die. Either the kids that lived and eventually overthrow whoever should’ve killed them in the first place or whoever should’ve killed the kids live by killing said kids so that they themselves don’t have any trouble headed their way anytime soon. Who do you think any of these people would pick? Which favor do you think anyone will at least try to get the odds in? I’m not saying that killing someone’s kids is justifiable especially in Reva’s case, but although you seem to actually understand the actions and the reasons behind them, I want you to realize and also understand that shit like this can get way more personal than you think.

7:30 that for me is the worst part of the writing in this show. she just knows vader is anakin and she is going around killing innocent people for him as a way to get revenge, is absolute nonsense.
At the same time they show it as obiwan not knowing vader is anakin despite him learning this is revenge of the sith. They could have very easily fixed this writing, have her not know vader was anakin. have her think the jedi failed her and turned bad, so that explains why she is hunting jedi for vader, have her not learn who vader is until she confront obiwan in the last episode, then she agrees to try to take vader out.
but even if they fixed that theres so many other issues with the show that wouldn't fix how bad this was.

    • @ge2719

someone who gets wrong doesn't just go and start doing the exact same thing to other people and convince themselves they're a good person. thats just nonsense.
plus she ruins her one chance to attack vader by yelling.
she was aboard his ship. if she really wanted to kill him she could have destroyed the ship from the inside and boom, vader dead. she wouldnt need to get close to him.

I hope there's no season 2 and I hope to never hear anything more of Reva. She's a collection of clichés and worn out tropes. She's extremely weak with the Force (maybe the weakest I have seen in the entire Star Wars universe) and has no story to be told. Also, there's nothing more of interest to learn about Obi-Wan. This season was already too much and anything else will spoil all the mystery and lore we have already. This is a good place to end this story. I would enjoy a season of Darth Vader though. A dark season of the formation of the Inquisition and all the battles Vader personally lead against the Jedi would be cool.
