It really shouldn't do that, backstab is specifically worded to only deal damage to undamaged minions. The problem is that the undamaged restriction only applies to targeting minions with the spell, once you're done with targeting it's ignored.
Backstab damages the Djini for the same reason execute kills a spellbender. There is a condition and an effect. Backstab's condition is that it can only target undamaged minions and its effect is that it deals 2 damage. Djini only copies the effect from friendly minions, not the condition. I don't blame anyone for not realizing that tho. Hearthstone cards are notoriously poorly worded for the sake of simplicity. If you wanted to word backstab properly, it'd be something like "Target an undamaged minion then deal 2 damage to it."
Tyler that's exactly what I was referring to, the way it's currently worded backstab shouldn't be killing the Djini. If the restriction only applies to setting a target for the spell then the wording should reflect that, just like the example wording you mentioned.

Ganging Up Conditioners only apply from card to minion. The djinn is programmed not to mirror being targeted, but to mirror any effects put on other minions. Sorry, I'm sure someone can explain better than I did.
it's a good explanation, but if you want an example take spellbender and execute, if a warrior tries to execute a minion then spell bender will be killed instead, because it has 2 parts: target damaged minion destroy minion (-its not destroy a damaged minion)
ive been using jade rouge and as a tempo deck nothing can beat it. I move out some cards and stick in a Nzoth for late game decks, switch to taunts and stuff if im facing aggro. Jade rouge under rated, try it firebat.
