- Japan has a long and radical skate history. With so many eyes focused on Tokyo in 2021 Vans wanted to make sure that the rich skate culture and storied history didn't get lost in the hype of The Games. Japan has a great skate scene that should championed and celebrated long after this moment in history.
This is the last trip the Loveletters crew took with our beloved Jeff Grosso before his passing. Jeff and the crew had a blast meeting the many Japanese skaters from every generation.

Never missed someone so much that I never even met... Grosso forever man. ✊
spot on
Legit brother Jeff is the brother, father figure that's experienced in REAL life. Peace and love homies skate on for grosso 🤙✌️
Samey same. I liked that Hawk opened up, seemed appropriate. Grosso forever!
Absolutely accurate statement!!
Yep. Think about him every day.
“Skaters don’t walk, we feel different, what we think isn’t normal to people who walk”
I loved that!!
Miss you Grosso. Rest in power big guy.
His son misses him too I bet, too bad Jeff didn't care and continued to be a junkie....
Been to Japan many times, the people are incredible and the skaters showed me all the spots and parks. Went out of their way to help me. The skate shops are incredible and have much more soft goods than here in the US. Special collections from the skate companies. Japan is a very safe place because people follow rules there. So when you visit, dont be an american ahole and skate with respect.
so sad this is that last love letters thnx for this show jeff. R.I.P
Man I’ll tell ya, what a huge fucking loss to the skateboard world was Jeff’s passing. So full of life and loved to make everyone laugh and smile while still not corrupting his views and values on skateboarding and life in general. There will never be another like him. RIP Grossman
This is an incredible look into the history and evolution of Japanese skateboarding! Grosso forever!
I'm only saying this for and in the spirit of Grosso... No shit, X Games. Eat a bowl of turds cuz you'll never do anything as cool as this. ❤️ Live forever, Grosso. ❤️
Hate to tell you but Jeff despised the X Games and everything it stood/stands for.
Thank you
An amazing insight into Nippon's skate culture. Grosso did us proud here. A true ambassador of the lifestyle. He's missed. Grosso Forever.

LOVE U MISS U THANK YOU!
So rad. Rippers. Nisi raged hard with us. He followed us around and took tons of pictures. Pools, bars, clubs, everywhere. Nisi skated and surfed too. Rushing it. So rad. Sk8Nation. He made us feel like Rockstars.
"Creativity is everything...skating is not a school activity". Truer words have never been uttered. I wish this upon the youth.
Japanese have always had a natural rad style. So sick . I miss Jeff
The world isn't the same without Grosso. And I've never met the man. RIP ripper ❤
So stoked to see this documentary on Japan, an interesting look into a part of skate culture home to innovative and stylish groups of skaters such as the Osaka Daggers. Been waiting for this one, hyped to watch it, Grosso Forever!

Grosso Forever!!!!
Lived and skated in Tokyo in the mid 80's. Skated many of the spots shown on a regular basis. Kiyose, shibuya banks, marvees, LA club... Was on that boat at the beginning of the vid... Damn good times! Thanks for the session down memory lane, best skate years of my life - well, until the Burnside years... :) rip Grosso!!!
Japan has the best scene.
Jeff Grosso, We Love You brother rest in peace 🕊️✌️🕊️✌️......
Incredible doc. Grosso did a great job showcasing Japanese skate culture with respect. Sharing this vid with all my friends and feeling inspired. Thank you Grosso 🙏🏻 RIP
I couldn't wait 4 each "Grossos Love Letters"-He spoke the re@l,always & wherever he was filming!! "GROSSO FOREVER" Legends never die !!!! 9
"What we think isn't normal to people who walk." Great words. I've definitely dealt with odd looks and conversations with people who don't skate. When we skaters take trips we look for and appreciate skateable architecture. I've stopped at spots and my friends and family asked why we stopped. Also, RIP Grosso.
Thank you so much for posting this. I’m in tears thinking about the importance of this episode. Most importantly how touching it is to see Grosso one last time. Grosso Forever.
This was a fantastic and insightful video. I live up in Japan's north east in Iwate and skating is indeed a bit difficult, but it's slowly getting easier, there's a good scene here. The great thing is it's so darn quiet and empty up here you can cruise for miles and be unbothered. I hope over the years I live here that both my connections with the local skate scene continue to grow and my skills improve at the tender age of 38. Anyway this was a precious video. Peace and Grosso forever!
love this
I knew we'd get to here one day, the very last Loveletter that Grosso filmed. Thanks Tony for the opening, and Vans for giving Grosso a platform to express himself and show us a more intimate view into skateboarders and skateboard culture. Grosso Forever.
One of the best epiosode!!!!
D.I.Y. is the ultimate freedom! More skaters need to unite and work at building our own spots!
"We all skate ninja style." Best quote about Japanese skateboarding ever.
Living In the country side I often see fellow skaters running away from the police around the station.
But over the years skate parks and skate friendly spots have been popping up here and there my favorite spot is in Nagoya underneath the overpass
wow .. thank you skateboarding .
Hey Grosso. Thank you so much for this amazing gift for all of us.
we love u jeffy
Been following Evisen since 2017, stoked to see them get some more recognition.
What a great fuckin tribute to Japanese skateboarding! Even though I’ve been living here for many years I didn’t know much of the history and it’s many scenes. It’s so raw and underground and true to the original roots of skateboarding. So glad Grosso came over and exposed all these rippers who’ve been killing it for decades 🙏 ❤️
Wow! Some of the most stylish skating 'ive ever watched in this video. The japanese skating culture is very badass. Sad that this is the last episode. RIP Jeff
I use to go to the same school with Philippe Mentone (Maintanay) . he use to part time at Murasaki Sports ,He was already pro , I was in a different team and a street rat kid ,he was my best supporter that time for giving me almost new boards (used 2-3 times), to keep me perform on not destroyed decks.
Good to see some of his features !!!
Also good to see some old friends !!
Great documentary !!!
JAPAN AIR !!!
Miss you so damn much, every time I slam it's for you, Phelps and Monk.
Chiming in from Kumamoto, Japan...soft wheels and night skating go hand in hand here.
Was just rewatching episodes recently, fucking amazing on the timing of this video. Rip to Grosso ✊🏻
You made my days watchin the letters, miss big G.
cried at the end
"He said that's not true"
Jeff: "RADICAL......YES!!!!.
The pure joy in his eyes that formed when someone called bullshit on a statement he made about a skateboard topic is priceless. He had such a genuine love for skateboarding and skateboard culture, that it will be hard for anybody to fill his shoes. We miss you so much Jeff.....RIP............GROSSO SUCKS!!!!!!!!
How id love for my notification bell to ping again for a freshie with grosso big smile baiting ya in for some get real skate history no bs
