Thank you! I am starting my indoor planting today using your seeds and supplies. This video is perfect timing! I am new to starting my garden early by planting seeds indoors. I always buy my plants and transplant them. If all goes well, I will be saving tons of money. Thank you so much for inspiring me to expand my knowledge.
I am one of the ones you are talking to!🙋🏻♀️. You teach me so much! I have my lighting all wrong! 🤦🏻♀️ Back to the drawing board for me. But my seedlings are sprouting so most everything is going well . 🤞🏻 I think 😬
What is your electric bill? Would love to see a video on you and your whole garden set up. Do you have help or do it all on your own? Is this a full time job? Do you ever take time off? Thanks for all your valuable info.
Lumens change by the inverse square law (1/distance^2). A 2000 lumen light at 4 inches will only be 500 lumens at 8 inches. Doubling the distance will decrease the lumens by (1/2)^2. 20000 lumens at 4 inches will only be equivalent to 555 lumens at 24 inches (4/24)^2.
Hey Luke, Thanks so much for all your videos! I've learned so much! I have not seen a discussion on the best atmosphere to grow your seeds in. I have racks and lights, heat mats, and great bootstrap farmer air prune trays. Last year I had the racks in my main living area and we did fine. I'm tired of the clutter and want to move the whole set up to my unfinished basement. My husband thinks it's too cool down there (No. Il zone 5) to grow seeds. Will the cool basement affect how well my plants grow? I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!
Good video, but the intensity of the light falls off by the inverse square law. So if you start at 4 inches you get 1/4 the light at 8" 1/9 at 12" 1/16 at 16" 1/25 at 20" etc.
I literally just bought lights that are 1900 luman. Hope It's close enough. I bought the clip on lights for 25 bucks off Amazon in the past with red and blue lights just checked and it said 300 luman . But I thought it worked OK for 25 bucks.
Hey Luke, happy New year. Planted onion seed on 1/11 put vermiculite instead of pearlite, grabbed wrong bag. Can this cause problems in germination? The reason I ask is I don't see any sign of growth. Your seed packet says it could take 2 weeks so I'm not freaking out, but concerned. Any thoughts. Thx Tim
First time customer, long time subscriber! Just received my package of 20 plus packs of seeds. So excited!

Great video, Luke. Thank you for all that you do!!!
Great job explaining these things, Luke. Thank You!

Happy birthday Luke 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for sharing!❤
Good examples are given.
Happy birthday 🙂

Thank you so much for this information:)
Can I take the seedlings out for morning sun? And the bring them back under the lights mid morning?
I have been doing that when the weather here in central Fl is above 60. Lately..no can do from the winter storm

Sorry additional info for last msg, the vermiculite was put over seedlings, I mixed both in seed medium.
The one I got says daylight. That's all I could find on the box. Is that ok ?
Daylight is roughly 5400K
My new grow lights do not list lumens. Just 30 watts, 80 CRI & 5000 kelvins. No mention of lumens on manufacturer’s website either 😢
Start seedlings? It is -20C (=-4F) today. Spring is very far…

Not really. Although vermiculite hold water much more readily like a sponge than perlite does. just be careful not to overwater.
A candle is 1 lumen, that’s how a lumen is measured, by definition.
