I love how informative and detailed you are about each product. I've learned so much from your ig stories and now your RUclips videos. Please keep it up Fiona!
I feel you on that potted gel eyeliner! I was struggling so hard with gel eyeliner a few weeks ago and switched to a calligraphy pen and had no problem. The makeup nerd in me loves these informative videos!!
It's so funny, I always buy them and then I'm always mad when I use them. But I do like to have them just in case, cause it's always about the "just in case".
I loved this! I completely understand your made-up words to describe the struggle with the pot-type eyeliners. I do a lot of bridal makeup and don't keep a liquid in my kit because I find it hard to sanitize properly without compromising the formula, so I opt for the ol pot-liners. I love liquid but for this reason, I don't always reach for it. Thanks for your passion!
Yay! Somebody else that is obsessed with black liners in their kit and can’t have just one. I think at this moment, I have 10 in my kit, but no liquid pen liners. The only liquid liner I carry is the DM cushion liquid liner that you also use. Thanks for the video... def informative. ❤️
You have me sold on the Surrat eyeliner! And the millimeteriness term makes sense to me. I love the Charlotte Tilbury gel liners in the lighter colors but wouldn’t dare try the black.
I found that the sharpener really matters to get a gel pencil super sharp. I used to have that spill proof sharpener in my kit and it would NEVER get my get pencils uber sharp, but at home the same pencil I had in my kit but different sharpener I could get the most fantastic point to create a mini cat eye.
I just repurchased the Kevyn Primitif liners per your Instagram. I love the Marc Jacobs highliners in Blaquer and all of the browns too. So lovely and LONG WEARING! Favorite liquid is definitely the Surratt. I wish my hands worked with the felt tips but I hate them. They bend and fray and make my blood boil. I like the Lancome Grandiose liner, but it is a little thick, but super black and doesn't crack or flake. I also love the Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eye Pencil. It's a powder pencil and gives the smudgiest or cleanest line. I do go over it on myself with black shadow at the lash line just because of my super oily lids. What's next? Red lips?
Yes the Marc Jacob's ones are great, I have all of their colored liners! And I recently (after I filmed that video) used a new one from Lancome that has a glossy vinyl finish and I LOVE it (not sure of the exact name). I haven't used the Elizabeth Adren pencils, but now I have about a thousand of the Kevyn Aucion ones so I'm set for a while. :)
I love so much nerding about makeup 😍 I only have the makeup forever acqua xl and I love it, sadly here in Italy those other brands are almost impossible to find...
That's what the internet is for! We recommend companies like BedaBox and Stackry for our International customers who shop on Reed Clarke. Not too expensive from what I understand!
Any tips on how to clean the brushes for liquid eyeliners? I saw it was mentioned hear to use 70% Iso alc but I found when I did that, it dried the felt tips out and they were never the same. KInda stumped on how to clean them so I can incorporate them into my kit. Love this video!
Texture...I get what you mean about the Inglot liner, but have you tried their Duraline to mix/cut into their gel liner (using a palette)? You can get a fairly fluid liner...I know, an extra step, but the results can be worth it. I bought a brush at my local craft store that has longer hairs just for this product. Also, you can create your own custom colored liner by mixing Duraline with a powdered eyeshadow. (General info, Surely, Fiona already knows this!) And NO, 15 different black liners is not excessive if you use/enjoy them...you had me at 'Beauty Nerd' in the title.
@@fionastiles I haven't tried the MixMed from MAC, but I've tried another brand from a tube, and the tube usually is more of a gel, and the Duraline comes in a small glass dropper bottle, so it's more wet/fluid than MixMed from a tube (guessing...).
@@fionastiles I second the duraline! It brings your gels back to life and thins them out to a less "dimensional" product, giving it a similar consistency to the ink pens. It reminds me of Aquaseal from MUFE, but less drying and more time to manipulate
I've purchased the antonym eyeliner and is a staple in my kit! I have a question about your time at RISD. what classes do you think was the most helpful for you (artistically)? aaand, I would really love to hear your Makeup artist origin story :)
I really appreciate your work Fiona❤️❤️ In August I will go to Dublin and here there's Boots that sells lots of brands that we haven't in Italy, soooo can you do a video of your favorite drug store products? ❤️ Kisses from Rome 💋
I am here for your nerding out!!! Your meticulous approach says so much about your passion and eye for detail. Seriously cannot get enough of your videos! I have a challenge/question for you though? Do you have a favourite eyeliner that lasts on the upper waterline but doesn’t transfer to the bottom? Also.... I’m a bit obsessed with the hunt for the perfect nude/skin colour eye liner. Could you do a video on your faves? Thanks! 😘😘😘
So for real life versus work, a gel liner is the way to go for longevity. Also, I don't believe an eyeliner exists that can last on the upper waterline and not transfer down, but that said I would love to be proven wrong. (I tried the Kat Von D one and it totally ran.) Maybe a pot gel liner like MACs? I'll circle back with you about my fave nude colored eyeliner. I think the one in my kit is either Jouer or maybe Paula Dorf?
Transfer...I've done a masterclass for a lux makeup brand, and when it came to tightlining with their iconic waterproof liner, there would always be one gal with raccoon eyes right away. My technique to get the least amount of transfer is to line in between the lashes instead of the waterline itself...not exactly the same effect, but does define the lash line decently.
Oh also would be interested in your thoughts/faves of brown eye liner. X

So great to hear that, thank you!
I would love to see a vid like this on mascara!
Just wanted to take a minute to talk about your GORGEOUS lip! Your nerdiness speaks to me

@@fionastiles Exactly, that's why I bought mine 😂
I love these videos so much. It is so appreciated that you take time from your already busy schedule to share these tips and knowledge with us.

Get the Surratt one, it's life changing!

Love love love!
How do you sanitize your marker liners? I'd definitely carry them if I knew I could truly sanitize them.
I second this question!
So from my MAC days, we would use 70% alcohol and really work it into the tip.

I'm so glad!!
I like your technique of applying eyeliner to your hand and then using a brush to apply. I couldn’t figure out Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner till now
Thanks Uma!!

Is the Duraline similar to the MAC Mixing Medium?

Yay! At last! 👏
:)
Going to have your gel liner diatribe printed onto a tote bag, because it’s the f**king gospel.
You always have the best comments Gia!
It could just say "Millimeteriness"

Fiona Stiles okay thanks! The best one I’ve found so far has been the Marc Jacobs gel liner in Brownie and Blacquer.

@@Chelsea-jx1bi These are my favorite gel crayon liners. They last so long.
Ooh, I really like the BCC liner from Milk. It's a good nude on fair skin. Their boss black liner is also great.
