Best Glide always manages to provide high quality without an inflated price. This is a fine supplemental ration pack that could be a stand-alone survival kit with the additions you mentioned, plus repair supplies and shelter. Don't know if it would fit but the Sidekick Straw by HyrdraBlu is a VERY small water filter---less than $20. Thanks for another great review!
I will check them out I use the aquamira frontier in my last ditch kits I think it’s 25 gallon use but it’s plenty for a few days lost in the woods if you needed it I will have to check out the hydrablu if they fit better that’s what I will go with o really like the length on the aquamira but this best glide kit is an awesome kit I really like it. The added items would make a good little survival kit!
High Quality components. Well thought out as an “emergency” ration with a lot of “extras” that put it into the class of “survival kit”. That 1200 calorie brick is the backbone but having a cup of beef broth, some candy, or coffee with sugar… it would be amazing to have in a lifeboat if stranded for days. The metal wire and first aid and fishing kit would be a lifesaver as well. Best Glide has impressed me with the quality of their kits and equipment. Great video. Well done.
Your right for sure. Best glide does do some really cool stuff with their kits. This thing is like a MRE with a few survival aspects. I will probably pick up acouple more and toss them in some kits. Thanks for the comment I appreciate that! There’s more to come!
I recently purchased an Advanced Ration Pack and I am very pleased with this kit! However, I would as a few things to the kit….a signal mirror, a SAK with a saw like a Hiker, a bic lighter, a small head light and I’d add a few more first aid items along with a Hank of paracord, a snap light and a orange bandana. I would add a large Heatsheet survival blanket, and finally a one liter whirl-pak water bag with purification tablets. All the additions fit nicely in the bag! That’s my two cents! Thanks! By the way, excellent video and presentation!!.
Thank you I appreciate that a lot it means a lot to hear that! Thanks for the comment! I agree with what you’re saying to turn it into an actual survival kit and not just a meal supplement with a few extra items everything you said would be great. I have a few Swiss champs I love them tools I keep one in a few of my packs it’s just acouple extra layers but it does have a great assortment of tools. A bic lighter is the ultimate fire starter as long as it’s warmed up in the winter they work great! Paracord is almost irreplaceable! Survival blankets are awesome or even one of them better quality Mylar tube tents. I do like the SOL heatsheets also they make a good blanket. A small light or headlamp is a great idea also! In a pinch the Mylar bag could be used with the water purification powder but it’s easier to just filter the water and then drop a tablet or two in the bag wait 30 minutes then drink.
This is a good kit to have for an unexpected night in the wilderness. Pair with a trauma kit and proper extra clothing and you’re prepared for a night or two. You won’t be comfortable, but you can stay alive. The foil pan and fuel tabs are especially useful to make a quick hot beverage to stave off hypothermia. I’d rather a space blanket than a fishing kit, but adding a space blanket costs and weighs nothing.
Yep the addition of a space blanket would be well worth it for sure! The way you put that is awesome! You’re definitely right it’s a survival kit not a camping kit so comfortability goes out the door and survival is the key! Thanks for the comment I appreciate it!
One thing that I didn’t see in the kit or heard any mention made of so far that I would add is some kind of multi-tool option. Also, that bag looks like it would be ideal as a boiler/broiler piece for any fish or other animal you might catch.
Yea that would work it’s Mylar so it’s good for holding up some heat! That’s a great idea I would like to try to cook a fish in that bag. That’s awesome idea! That’s a great idea also a leatherman multitool would add a huge layer of convenience to the kit.
Nice kit. Id add a mylar blanket, poncho, replace the peanut bar. A pack of soup mix, tea, water bag, more water purification, ferro, small flashlight, duct tape, mini bic
@@whitetailsurvival2430 I've been making kits for a very long time. Sometimes I have a lucky brain fart lol. I have a few sardine cans left. I'm thinking of making 1 man/1day survival rations in them. Of course I'll add water purification tablets and matches. Definitely a knife in the kit you reviewed. I'd even go as far as a Swiss army.
@@whitetailsurvival2430 I made three and sent them out already. My old spitter, a guide in Alaska who also teaches survival and a boy scout. Waiting for their feed back for Gen 2. I've ordered cans and when the next ones are done I'll get one out to you. Thanks for the interest!
hi, you try often to strike the ferro rod with the round serrated side. this side is for scraping material and the straight side is for striking. good job in your videos
Thank you I appreciate it! I never really used the strikers before I always had a sharp knife spine with me so the striker thing was new for me to learn 😃 I always kind have just held the striker in my hand or cut it off.
I got one a few yrs ago after seeing kitbashed survival’s review and I was kinda impressed. Used it on a 20 mile hike on the A-T trail, it will keep you going. Bought 4 more to keep in car kits. Couple of things I wouldn’t mine seeing added to it a couple of water bags( whirl paks) I’d swap out the purification powder for tablets, hydration powder (Gatorade or equivalent) a few cone coffee filters, swap out the bouillon cubes for satchels or even cup of soup packets. Don’t see the need for tools or rope. It’s not meant to be a survival kit think of it as a mre with a few more components.
Yea I agree with you there it’s definitely a meal supplement it’s cool what they pack into the bag. I figured in the worst case scenario you could strain water through your shirt into the Mylar bag. Of course after you rinse the shirt a bit to get the sweat off it. Then add the powder to the bag. Great ideas! Thanks got the comment I appreciate hearing the story’s of the kits being used in a real life scenario!
Yea that would work great with some purification tablets add a 1 liter mark to the outside of the bag and it would be perfect I bet that bag holds close to a half gallon or 2 liters
I like the little pan it’s definitely convenient and you could definitely get a few good boils out of it before it falls apart. I should check how much water it holds and I will let everyone know when I do the test!
Yea I seen that happen before they absorb all the water and turn mushy and leak. I took the corner of the bag and twisted it up and sanctioned it off in its own portion of the bag.
Yeah I always do that with anything like that salt and sugar packs too sometimes even coffee because no telling if or when something might puncture it.
@@whitetailsurvival2430 this sugar has a very bad metabolic effect on insulin levels in blood. It will increase the sense of hunger, something you don't want in case of food rationing.

Great kit for hikers or to have in the vehicle for people who travel through remote areas.
Yea it’s a nice just toss in pack or vehicle kit. Quick food and survival kit. It’s a pretty cool one

Definitely agree on the extras they have in it. Added the fishing kit and matches to my go bag.
The big outside ziplock bag looked like a liter.
I will check it before I test it out and mention it in the video!
The bag it came in could hold a litre of water
Yea that would work great with some purification tablets add a 1 liter mark to the outside of the bag and it would be perfect I bet that bag holds close to a half gallon or 2 liters
That pan should be in every kit. It can be folded down flat.
I like the little pan it’s definitely convenient and you could definitely get a few good boils out of it before it falls apart. I should check how much water it holds and I will let everyone know when I do the test!
I would add the contents of this ration pack to my existing survival kit. One can never have too many items in their survival kit.
Absolutely!! This makes a great supplement to a premade kit!
When you need the enclosed survival knife to open the package to get the knife.
Yea that was a hard one to get opened 😁
That peanut bar with break your teeth and suck the fillings outof them. Id rather chocolate in its place
That’s a great idea I never tried the peanut bar thing but so far it seems like a bad idea
Thanks
This one is definitely worth it's cost.
Yea it’s like 26 dollars right now that’s definitely worth it!
I'd put that boulion cube in its own ziplock bag or it will eventually ruin the rest of the condiments.
Yea I seen that happen before they absorb all the water and turn mushy and leak. I took the corner of the bag and twisted it up and sanctioned it off in its own portion of the bag.

Sorbitol in the peanut candy, 🤮🤮 the worse poison.
I never tried it yet. It doesn’t sound good if you say so
