yaar!😂 even I am from the general category. People with higher marks and interview score get rejected due to unstable character and behaviour. doesn't matter if you've got the highest marks in the exam, if your character is not suitable for UPSC, then you will be taken out/ rejected. And ma'am, if you are preparing for UPSC, I don't think you will be selected with such a discriminative attitude. So, chill ma'am.

If you really want to serve public please apply for MRO post there at least you are accessible to public and you serve public of one Mandal per two years . This gives more satisfaction than becoming IAS and not accessible to public.
Good debate. The position, powers and arena of IAS is much much bigger than MRO,MDO etc etc . I will give u practical examples. I was a Deputy thahisildar for 3 yrs . I directly worked under Joint collector, The district collector used to visit my project meant for weaker sections. The P.D, Girijan development agency also have connections with my project and he was also IAS, two sub collectors were IAS. So i had the great opportunity of observing their working styles . I joined in that job at the age of 23 yrs. Some of those officers are below 30 yrs only. Broad thinking, quick decession making , using their discretion for the advantage of society was very impressive. After knowing I was perfectly honest, they gave me much more freedom to suggest and implement various schemes for the poor. I used to spend the govt amount even on their oral orders which my direct boss Joint collector ratified during my monthly meetings. Many times Thahisildar , and other colleagues used to caution me not to spend without written orders but I never faced any problem. Once during my boss visit to project site he observed, the colony people are severely suffering from Malaria fever. He asked me what to do. He asked me to admit them in govt hospital. In fact I arranged for spray for killing misquotes etc around their houses. It is a hill side colony. He said how much money in project account. 68000/ was my reply. Then he asked me to arrange to admit them in govt hospital in Palakonda. He paused and said give some thing to them. 16 patients, 16 attendents ,4 kids. I gave each rs 10/ and 4 kgs of rice and arranged transport to hospital On the other occassion I have to provide maize and ground nut seed freely to 50 farmers to whome we assigned 2.5 acrs of land each. The IAS boss said supply them from govt agriculture depots. I had a meeting with the farmers who said hybrid seeds from govt depot are not suitable as their lands are rain fed. They requested local seed suitable for their lands. I met the boss and explained. He said if you are conveniced with those farmers version, buy the seed from local farmers. We have visited , verified and brought from 3 villages without broker at best rate. Fortunately that season was good and good crop harvested by those tribles, S.Cs and other weaker sections. No fake estimates or quotations, no note put up by cleark s, scrutiny of head cleark etc etc.All went on smoothly without waste of time Same is the experience in supplying mango and coconut plants The lands could be assigned to many poor and needy without the bribes collection by karnam now the VRO. The IAS officer is still like a king and every word that come from his mouth is like an order of a king. That is why they are made in charge of all sectors, may it be a company, factory, production unit, irrigation project etc etc besides initial jobs in districts Ofcourse politicians try to kill their enthusiasm and clip their powers. Yet they can continue to contribute wherever they work. Some civil servents only come to the services to earn illegally, some enter with a pure heart but turn corrupt in the middle. Some succumb to political pressures and join their hands with politicians to amass illegal wealth.
who said an IAS officer is not accessible to the public?😂. ruclips.net/video/eJzazxXbfUw/видео.html this is just one of the many videos. If you can't make it to UPSC doesn't mean you degrade any course!
