At first the arrowhead making was hard to watch, I kept expecting them to break, but now I understand that this man is just flexing his mastery of arrowhead making skills on us. Beautiful results as always, and houseguests that pretty are always welcome!
@@PulitzerOpal You are too humble! Its like watching somebody juggle chainsaws and then having them say "Oh, this is nothing, there's only three of them!"
Came for the cats stayed for the opal. Just kidding I'm here for Sheila. Nice costume by the way. Amazing video as always. I'm always so fascinated by what can come out of a stone. The black opal was a fun change but the lighter opals will always hold my heart, don't know why but I like the pastels especially the greens. Anyway, thanks for always keeping us entertained.
So happy to watch a new video! I guessed that shiela was gonna be a cat for Halloween, I was wrong. This arrowhead is even better then the last, They just keep getting better and better! Watching you make them is my favourite part of the videos.
I admired the stones and my little daughter admired all the pets, so we both enjoyed your video! She's learning english and she repeated the word BLACK after you. Next one will be OPAL or ARROWHEAD heheh 😄
Love the videos that you do! Pity the black opal didn't turn out as well as you thought, but that's what happens sometimes. Loved that you showed Justin from Black Opal Direct. I watch his videos all the time! You're videos always make my day, and give me a great laugh.
Nice stone from Riley. I’ve got a number of parcels from him. I love your videos because of two things, very informative and I always get a belly laugh or two. Thanks
lovely doublet! and that black opal really shows its majestic colour ! sheila keep up the good work. as for my cats most of them have not really gotten to truly enjoy opals, grasping only surface level details. one gets it more deeply, but prefers pictures of Australian opals to Ethiopian or Mexican opals. any thoughts on why this may be happening ? much love!
I have a really cool black opal from Riley in a gamble rough parcel from 53 frogs on opal auctions . It has two district stripes ,one blue , one green . Riley Is the man, and his material is no joke .
Paul at Sedaopals at opal auctions also has some very nice stuff. My most valuable stone (so far) came from a parcel I won from him and it is worth 300 dollars (according to Justin, whom I saw in Denver two months ago). the parcel cost me 70 plus shipping.
thanks once again for a great video. I really love the opals and to see how they are cut! If I ever happen to have the money to buy a gem-stone it will mostlikely be an opal just because of these videos!
Wow! So beautiful! I have a growing collection of Riley's (53Frogs) rough opals! I know they'll probably never be cut because I haven't a clue, I love collecting the rough, you never know what mystery lies inside as they twinkle at me. 🤔😍
After Years of thinking about it, You made me start grinding myself, Ronald ! Thank you for that. Hope i can get stones like these in your videos one day. And have a nice one yourself.
ive been watching your vids for the longest time and thought i was subbed, but turns out i wasn´t! ive since taken care of that, and im so happy every time you make a new vid. your channel helped me become more knoledgeable about opals and helped me source the right stuff to make an engagement ring for my fianceé, so yes, you helped me get engaged (she said yes) saludos desde mexico! love u
I was most definitely wrong on Sheila’s costume, I was thinking a Devil (I was right on the color, though!) I absolutely love your video’s, your humor and all your fur babies!! I would be more then willing to give one of your opal’s or the chips a very good home! I can assure you, it would be loved, shown off and very well taken care of!! I’m looking forward to more videos!! 😂 ❤
Glad to see you and Justin have an "agreement" about the opal! Lol, love watching his channel. The gorgeous arrowhead looks like a Christmas tree, stunning. The gems you uncover in this video are quite beautiful 😍 but of course, we know that you will find the beauty in the stone if any is to be found!
I admire your videos and your stones so much, you don’t post a lot but when you post it always makes me smile❤ I think sheila will be an angel for Halloween because sheila is and will always be your angel 😇
Sheila will be the Grim Reapess, dark and mysterious like the black opal. Barb the arrowhead was amazing by the way, I love all the curves on the edge, fab work. So was that black arrowhead, awesome. Brilliant work.
Hi Don!.....WOW!!!!....I don't think I've ever seen a color combo on an Australian black opal like that........purple, blue, pink, and red....really nice!!......I bought some of Riley's "Candy Store" opal rough like the big chunk in your video.......my parcel was quite a bit smaller.......nice stuff, but the sand is a real drag!!!
i have purchased many of Mr Gunns beginner parcels. I took a gamble with one lucky dip parcel, but it wasnt a top prize. It DID have a nice opal fossil shell, but I doubt much will come of it, it looks best natural, I think,
I've been looking for your next video and as usual you never disappoint! I would have never guessed a fire hydrant I was thinking more on the lines of minx or cat woman. I enjoyed your mastery of the fine art of Opal cutting and Arrowhead Flaking. You make this old woman happy watch such beauty come from such sandy stones. Catch cha next time!
We love these videos. You have something beautiful for the eye (opals) and the wonderful animals are just beautifully staged. Thank you for taking the time to show us viewers the craft, the final result. This is exactly what motivates us as beginners to cut opals and make jewellery.
I love watching your videos but why do you mostly make arrow heads? Do you sell them or collect them or have people that do? Many thanks and keep the fantastic videos coming 😊
I can't stop laughing at kicky-face! Who wouldn't want to offer up a permanent residence for anyone of thse gorgeous stones! Once again you've outdone yourself the stones are incredible 👏 Mesmerized by the stones and constantly entertained by the fur babies!

Very nice episode. And I have to admit reluctantly that I hadn't guessed that Sheila's Costume would be Red.... I was sooo close. Congrats to your winners of some fin specimen's!
I wouldn't mind taking Slim in. RUclips hasn't been notifying me of your videos and I was like: how is that lovely opal fellow with the fun editing I haven't seen in a while? Hope you're well this Turkey Day!
I love barb the arrowhead there I said it! my undying love for barb I just hope she doesn’t hurt me 😆 I buy from 53 frogs it’s a great place to get Opal to work on. Keep up the awesome videos you and Justin are the guys I really enjoy watching create incredibly beautiful Opal gems ❤
Sheila, red fire hydrant, hmmm I was thinking naughty nurse. Love the arrow heads as always, it’s gotta be the next big thing in opal. Thanks for sharing, that doublet while not complete colour is still pretty nice, good job.
I love your videos so much. They are the best of so many worlds. Opals, art, fur babies and humor. I wish you could make more videos. Being sick brings me down and I enjoy you so much. And I’m always willing to give a opal or chip a forever home 💜😉
I was hoping that Sheila would be a 1920s flapper, as that seem to suit her look. Be careful letting Paco play, I recently saw a video where someones cat bit the edge of their tv and broke it. Good old Smokey, what a chonk! Well, glad to see you release another video. some really nice pieces in this one. that sand was unfortunate, but that seems to be the case in most opals. Congratulations to all the WINNERS! Enjoy your opals.
Fun Video. Wow that takes me back, Don. Recall when I first started watching I had you confused with Justin, Looking back how could I every done that. That arrowhead almost was a Christmas Tree. ❤️
Black opal is always worth it...except for when it's not. I totally expected Sheila to be a fire hydrant for Halloween..who would have guessed anything else? Your Opal arrowheads are always works of art, love em! And Slim, I would proudly wear/display anywhere! (love the parts of the video with your cats to, we do the same with our furboo's. 🤣)
Great colour combinations on "sandy" ! I rarely ever saw blue and red together in one piece without other sidecolors I appreciated the way of your cuts:Rather doing a freestyle form and holding onto the most colour/fire instead of simply doing commercial/classical form ! Keep doing what you do =) Greetings from another Gemcutter from Germany !
@@PulitzerOpal We deal with it rarely, but in my after work hours i get to cut my own stuff and opal is still a passion I will keep doing =) I have some Andamooka matrix ,but it s not really my preference in terms of opalisation =( . I will have a big look around in Tucson show for a strong blue and red colour combination ! Probably 75% or more of the german cutters are based in Idar, but I am not to far away from it =) If you actually wanna be looking for rough ,especially opal I would recommend you go to Munich again and visit the show in auttum ("Mineralientage" ).But it s so tiny compared to tucson . But Culture wise ,Idar is a great place to be: History Museum about Gems and the first "Factories" and machines they used to form agate(using water force and cutting while being proned) .Otherwise it s all kept down quite quiet and everyone doing their own thing with closed doors =( They are all looking, hiring and training gem cutters at the moment which is kinda controversal.
Great video as always. I always get nervous watching you work on your arrowheads it always seems like they are going to break in a bad way, but you always seem to get a near perfect end result. I was going to guess that Sheila was going to dress up like a maroon fire hydrant. So I would have been wrong, and felt like a fool. So glad I didn't guess that. My costume this year was a peanut butter filled meat tube. All I did was eat a bunch of peanut butter. It was the hit of the Halloween party!!

Nice arrowhead! I've just recently gotten into Opals and Gems/Minerals in general. You and Justin are definitely my favourite opal-related channels.
