I have to wonder though, what kind of power plant could Wargaming have dreamt up for Ushakov.
    It's based on mid-late 1940's technology.
The ship has a smoke stack, so it's not nuclear.
Even if they were to interconnect multiple engines in serial, or run multiple power plants in parallel, or heck, do both, what could possible output that much energy?
Not to mention how much fuel it would consume. There is no way a non-nuclear powered ship could weigh that much with outputs that high without consuming enough fuel to run a minor nation.
Wargaming can't justify this, there's no way on earth.

    • @yournamehere9928

USS United States would have had a power plant of 280,000 horsepower, and she was laid down in 1949. A powerplant of 320,000 would definitely have been possible in that time, though definitely not by the Soviets lol.

@@yournamehere9928 True. And for what I can gather, the USS Forrestal had the same power output on 8 steam turbines.
My only complaints there would be the considerably larger fuel capacity in the supercarriers as compared to a super battleship. Not to mention the quality of the Soviet naval R&D and industry in the late1940's. Considering the fact that light cruisers were an engineering challenge for the USSR, seeing them try and produce this behemoth would have been a treat to say the least. 😂
Imagine the USSR trying to produce the 880mm steel plate for the back of these turrets in 1949 in their own factories.

Wasn’t really concerned about the Soviet Super BB until the deck armor got shown. 60mm means the only reasonable counter (HE spam) goes out the window too. Otherwise no amount of belt armor would keep it from burning to a crisp like the Kremlin.

Those boxes next to the torp launchers are the torp magazines. Those weird cone things on the torp launchers are probably guides for quicker reloads. In theory, with that lay out, the Omono should have one of the most insane reloads.

I mean, you can't be too critical of the actual IRL Japanese light cruisers, Flamu. They were literally glass cannon spear heads for DD and sub convoy groups. Basically built to be oversized DD's with bigger guns and slightly lower speed. So their piss poor armor in the game is understandable to a point, but it won't be palpable in game. These are definitely going to be drive-by and anti-DD ships. Once the DD's are out of the picture, they might be able to assist in DD roles and do some ASW (ha), but if you're in one of those against a BB you're in THAT ocean with out a paddle. But their speed as well as being backed up by DD's is supposed to be their game play, but team work is hard in WOWS. If you can get a decent division going with 2 DD's and one of these light cruisers going, you could do some damage to a flank. Most people will try to smoke you out of the water until they see the 2 DD's then they have to decide to either get torpped by the DD's or torpped by you. It's bringing that quick-time event of destroy a ship worth less than your own or just flounder around and die into higher tiers with actual fast light cruisers with some amount of gun/torp on them.

The wooden structure on the Omono is probably to support the aircraft rail. It needs to be narrow so it doesn't interfere with the torpedo launchers rotation.

thinking a little bit it's kind of convenient for ushakov barbette to be 610mm.
same from shimakaze torps even if you hit the barbette part.
the torps would not have "pen" to destroy the ushakov magazine leading to detonation

The soviets had to put extremely thick armor on their ships, because they couldn't produce compound armor (didn't have the technology). As a result, soviet armor needed to be 2.5 times thicker to be as effective as American armor. So basically, the Sovetsky Soyuz 60mm deck would be as effective as a 25mm deck irl. And kremlin would have a 200mm citadel. Not to mention, this amount of armor would make the ship as agile as a glacier.

Like I wouldn't be shocked at all if the 100,000 Ton displacement was an underestimation of just how fucking low these things should be sinking (my thought is at least Ushakov should just sink)

Standard torpedoes during ww2 used steam later ones used electric motors which the up side of those was they left a less visible wake than steam driven ones however they had reliability issues. The Germans experimented with rockets and some today use rockets, but they often are used in sub-sub combat, and some have speeds like 80 or 90 knots. Like those stupid fast torpedoes WG gave submarines from the late 20s.

It's like WG saw the new IJN CLs, then decided then only thing that makes them CL is gun calibre, armour and health, but then makes mobility and gun stats shit beyond belief and AA non-existant. Very few people will play these ships once the "new ship" hype dies down
