October Sky builds a quiet symphony around a particularly potent memory of Yebba’s mother-a high school science teacher who sometimes brought home the bottle rockets her students had constructed for class. “I wrote this whole story about remembering her sliding down the hall and telling us ‘Come outside we’re shooting off bottle rockets,’” Yebba explains. “That memory came to me and the words just spilled out: this story of her and the promise that she broke, in a way, because she killed herself in October. I genuinely feel like she was standing there in the room with me as I was writing it, in my studio apartment in Brooklyn.”

I agree. She has taken her time to be intentional about what she wants to contribute to the conversation - that is contemporary music. They say that still waters run deep. For all of the collabs, "featuring"s and covers, I'm glad to hear her true voice again.
The producer robbed this song of its magic minimizing the song like this! Yebba’s vocal gymnastics is nearly untouchable. I’m so glad she went with the live, acoustic version of this song as her official video. It’s flawless and those runs!!

I disagree. Went and listened to the live version before I argue lol. I get what you mean but don't feel it was robbed. I actually liked that your comment made me want to compare. The music on this version, for me, put me mentally in a different place than the live. It invoked similar yet different feelings. This one feels like an "I overcame" song where as the live felt like a cherished beautiful sad loved memory. Same yet different and both wonderful.
