Yeah it was the movie I was looking for more than decades, what I remember was a knife, headless monster and spacesuit, laser like thingy. Finally found the movie.
This was one of those campy 80s flicks that was kind of sloppy, but had a sort of aesthetic charm to it that still makes it work as a solid cult film. Can't help but think that Event Horizon took a few pointers from Martin's novel, though this movie is more along the lines of something Roger Corman probably would have done had he retained James Cameron's services as a set designer and special effects guy the year after Battle Beyond The Stars was made. I have always had a soft spot for films like this, for better or worse.
Yeah I watched The first episode on netflix... It's shit!!! I'm surprised I didn't see this back then ..I must've been drinking too much in those days 😂✌️
I miss the old 80's voiceovers... the guy had a great voice, and made the trailers more exciting... This movie reminds me so much of Event Horizon, without the budget....
The movie had a paltry cast of 9 people...and six of them felt like they weren’t even needed! Through exposition, James Avery, the only non-white cast member, is immediately is racially shoehorned into a role of an intellectual inferior to the rest of the crew and the only reason he was allowed to come was because he can cook. There is even a line in the movie where he is referred to as “not worthy of attention”. The irony is that in real life, he was probably the smartest of the lot. Oh, and they insinuated he was gay, which had ZERO bearing on the plot. Just another reason in a homophobic 80s climate to negatively separate him from the rest of the crew. Pacing was also haphazard. Miranda and Royd have one 20 second conversation and in the next scene, she turns into his confidant and love interest which he is willing to risk death for. They have only known each other for about 90 seconds at this point. Oh, and Michael Des Barres’ character goes from accomplished psychic to raving maniac in the space of a 20 second montage. I can’t believe this got a theatrical release. It’s like if The Asylum threw Event Horizon, 2001, and Blade Runner in a blender and poured it directly into a camera.
Avery wasn't racially shoehorned into a role of an intellectual inferior, dude. That's a lot of freaking bullcrap. What the main actress in the film said was, "There might have been better technicians out there but his skill as a chef was his ticket on this expedition." Hey, they need somebody that can freaking cook a good meal, right? What if the other crew members weren't good cooks? What if the other crew members hated cooking? Again, they needed somebody that can freaking cook a good meal, right? Also, it was one woman that said that Avery was not worthy of that one other dudes attention. It was only one woman that said it and she said that Avery was not worthy of that one other dudes attention. She didn't say that he wasn't worthy of everyone's attention. It was only in reference to that one dude, not everybody. And as for what you wrote about ZERO bearing on the plot, well, there a lot of freaking things in a film ("Nightflyers," too) that are either said or done that have ZERO bearing on the plot. So what? A lot of stuff thats said or done in a movie has ZERO bearing on the plot! Also, they were actually nice enough to put Avery's cut-off fingers back together via laser, as well. They didn't have to do that, but they did it. They had actually been so nice to Avery by putting his fingers back together again, dude. Man, much of what you wrote is freaking bullcrap!
I like these 80s outer space movies. They're cheezy but cool and the music is funny to listen to.
I bought this on VHS in 2020 so I could watch it, wish it was on DVD
I can convert to dvd for you
@@damianclarkeed6683seems like he wasnt interested😂
So this is pretty much the 80s version of Event Horizon
My thoughts exactly...
THIS
Saw this on HBO in the early 90s and remember really liking it 🤷

Looks better than the recent series.

@@petersantospago1966 You're lucky you only watched the first episode. It gets much much worse. Sounds like you had a good 80's 😂
It is. So much better.
This looks awesome.

Oh dear.
MacGyver!
1980s HBO goodness
Wow so Martin inspired Alien. This man needs way more credit than just GOT.
you might have that the other way around since Nightflyers was published two years after Alien.
Nothing like Alien. If any movie inspired aspects of Alien in was Planet of Vampires from the 60's
Event horizony

It's always funny when someone insults your intelligence by using shitty grammar.
