All my kids and grandkids are from there and currently I live in the mid west but soon I too will be moving back in order to help my family and the local economy.
Thank you Lindsay! Been to FMB many times from Ohio. Have watched a number of your videos and you are really capturing the rebuild. I'm wondering when the pier is supposed to be finished? Thx!
Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach has had a great reputation for decades of constant flow of people/customers/ tourists, etc. whether they be snowbirds or locals, they can not FAIL to rebuild. Yes! it will take time but it will come back greater than ever before cause that what happens when you have LOVE for those who lost so much. FORT MYERS will not go deem in the night but will shine brighter than ever before..
Estero Beach and Tennis I believe is opening soon or has opened. There is someone who does great videos and I believe is an owner there. I'll see if I can find him and leave the link here. Santini Plaza I've gotten a lot of requests for I'll stop by and see what I can film laster this week. In the meantime here's a south end video I did awhile back from the road. ruclips.net/video/kVJlMa9SLTQ/видео.html
I had heard Diamondhead is scheduled to open next month. I am getting closer toward taking my kids to this beach. Not yet, for me, but lots of others are going.
If you can find a place that's open and has rooms available, it's still worth a vacation trip. A lot is still not open but there's enough to do and see and eat with what they've got up and running. It's still hopping (or it's _back_ to being hopping), but it'll be less crowded and the weather and the beach is still perfect. I hope you're still interested!
I was in Ft Myers Beach in January 2024, the same time you said this was filmed. I stayed at the Pink Shell. Your video makes the entire area look like a wasteland. Your viewers should know: 1) The Pink Shell is/was in full operation in Jan 2024. 2) The little bar (0:05) outside the Pink Shell is /was in full operation. I actually sat there and enjoyed the day for 3 hours one day !!! 3) The building next door (Estero Villas) was in full operation except for their pool. The pool is now open. 4) Tell people you shot this probably around 7am when the beach was still empty. For example, every day the Pink Shell puts dozens of beach chairs and towels all over the beach for guests. 5) You show NONE of the area around Margaritaville (where I spent New Year's Eve) or Matanzas, or Snug Harbor.....all of which were "hoppin'" when we were there. Maybe devastation gets you more clicks but your "tour" is VERY misleading.
Hi @rds990, thanks for watching! I both filmed and upload this video on January 15th, 2024. Also I did write in the description that the pink shell was looking good! I'm glad you got to enjoy the outdoor bar. As you can see, this video is not altered. I filmed it with my GoPro. If you think the area looks like a "wasteland" (your words not mine) it looks how it looked on this day. I do film in the mornings after I drop my kids at school. So this was probably about 8:30. You could tell it was morning from the sunlight I'm guessing. And you were right! This is an accurate representation of how this area looked on January 15, 2024 at approximately 8:30am (give or take, I'm not a very fast walker). Thank you for adding notes for my viewers! I think they may be helpful to some. I did not include margaritaville (hope you had a fun New Years Eve!), Matanzas, or Snug Harbor in this video. But fear not! I have many videos where you can see those establishments. If you have followed my channel for any amount of time you'd know I live here and have been walking the beach and putting up videos of the recovery process since 10 days after the hurricane (we didn't have power for 6 days so I didn't start to post these until after, and this kids were out of school for 3 weeks - crazy times!). Was there devastation? Absolutely. Is the area recovering? Yes it is. And I focus on showing the progress. Thank you for watching!
My Wife and I are moving back to Ft Myers from Minnesota to help RSW and SW Florida rebuild.
Nice! We moved here from Minnesota as well.
All my kids and grandkids are from there and currently I live in the mid west but soon I too will be moving back in order to help my family and the local economy.

I haven't heard yet but there's been talk about plans being submitted and donors offering to help fund the build.

Can you show some of the other end of the island? That's where we used to stay and loved it.
Hi Maureen! Do you mean the south end? I have a few videos up from both the beach and the road.

What is taking so long with the pier reconstruction?
design, approval, permits, labor, and cost@@CBearsNews
I made reservations for the end of July at Sandarac.Since they accepted I'm assuming it's been repaired
Is it?
Thanks
Hi James, I'd contact whoever you booked through to confirm. July is a ways away.
@@LindsayLola_ thanks
Very devastating to see all of that damage…
It really is
What about DiamondHead Beach Resort? Is the beach worth going to? Is there still too much debris to be walking barefoot?
I had heard Diamondhead is scheduled to open next month.
I am getting closer toward taking my kids to this beach. Not yet, for me, but lots of others are going.
Would FMB be a good place to AirBnB with family at beginning of April or stil to much to rebuilt currently?

Hopefully much less.
