  • Before Vick, there was Druck… Former Hokies QB Jim Druckenmiller joined Sons writer Rich Luttenberger and Two Deep host Pete B. for an honest conversation about his career in football. From his historic seasons at VT, to his pro career across multiple leagues, Jim embodied the blue collar values instilled in him at a young age. The guys also had some fun, recounting a couple of classic stories and memorable games. This is a must listen for any die-hard Hokie.

I remember one game in 95 it was a bad snap. Druck ran over, picked the football up like an apple, and ran for like 12 yards before some poor LB decided to tackle him. Druck floored the guy. The fans all around us were literally saying "this is a different breed of man". I can give Jim enough praise. Vick and Tyrod blew memories of other QBs into the ethos, but for those who were there, it all started with Big Jim Druckeneller.

When we beat Miami that first time, as time ran out I was shouting "WE BEAT MIAMI!! WE BEAT MIAMI!!" My brother said "Calm down! Act like you've been here before." I said "We HAVEN'T been here before."
I should have said "We are going to get used to it, though."
