    Sharon! Love that little Ostrich! How cute is he! Good demo and product review!
    Thanks for always inspiring me to pull my sketchbook out...even if for just 5 minutes!

      That's a bit of a bummer, but still very nice supplies to sketch with. I watched your video about their lightfastness and thought it was funny that my favorites colors ended up being the more lightfast ones. Are these marketed more as a sketchbook tool than a work-for-display tool?

    I've been considering these for "not so urban" sketching, or nature journaling. I sort of combine the two. Urban sketching fascinates me but I live in a small town. Thanks for the review.

    Really loving those pencils, hehe another thing added to my wishlist for sure. Loved the ostrich so cute and vibrant, those pencils seem to me like they put out beautiful pigment even better than some of the watercolor pencils I've used in the past, and looked like they also spread easier and smoother too. Will definitely be watching more of your videos to try to catch up but need to rest first, worst migraine I've ever had hit about half an hour ago, hoping it will subside soon already took Imitrex and Excedrin and used my peppermint oil, so far no luck, but I think a nice rest in my darkened bedroom might just be what I need.

    • @lilchichiboo
      @lilchichiboo 7 лет назад

      Yes it is a shame they aren't lightfast, but would do nice for some sketchobook drawings/paintings though. Just finished the QOR watercolor review video, will be watching painting next :) Funny thing, since nothing was working last night for the migraine I decided to go ahead and take my extra doses (supposed to take some of the meds 3 times a day but I generally only take them twice a day unless I need it a third time) so took a mini cocktail of meds lol (gabapentin, baclofen, and klonopin) and apparently that combo worked migraine went away..but also knocked me out lol I'd gotten undressed to take a shower and thought ok I'll just have a quick snack first since I had forgotten to eat dinner...lol woke up at 5 am with bits of summer sausage and cheese and crackers over my chest and lap and the floor and was still nude lol I never made it to the shower haha so glad I didn't have company over lol.

    • @lilchichiboo
      @lilchichiboo 7 лет назад

      Yeah I take high doses (1200mg 3 times a day) of the Gabapentin, and I think my Baclofen is 10mg, also three times a day, Klonopin I can have up to twice a day, all in all i'm on about 34 different medications if you also include insulins, nasal sprays, inhailor, etc. Yeah part of why I'm on the baclofen is similar, the hereditary Spinocerebellar Ataxia has the same side effects of MS, ALS, Parkinson's and Cerberal Palsy combined so I'm on quite a few meds to try to help things plus just found out recently that my Rheumatoid Arthritis has caused me to get Sjogren's Syndrome. If its not one thing its ten others it seems sometimes, but do my best to just keep on keeping on. Saw my rheumatologist today and had to have a bunch of labwork and got to go have an MRI done on my knees, for now he's putting me on prednisone even though he knows I'm not ok being on steroids because it affects my blood sugars so much but he won't even contimplate the methyltrexate until I try the prednisone, so doing it for the time being. Hehe and thanks yeah I definitely have some funny moments haha. I so hear you though I rarely get enough rest lol, but gonna try as I have company coming over tomorrow, hope you have a good weekend :D Oh, and loved the QOR painting btw. :)

    I'm going to have to say 'thank you' yet again for such a great video (review and drawing/painting). I thought Ozzie the Ostrich turned out a real cutie! I've used Derwent watercolour pencils a lot in the past - but mostly for dry work only. I always liked the degree of control that gave me and I guess that's why I still find proper watercolour painting so nerve-wracking (not in a serious way, but you know what I mean) as I have to let go of the reins much more than with a dry medium. It's watching accomplished artists like yourself handling all these different mediums so well that gives me continued hope that I'll get there one day. I'll be watching for the appearance of the QOR painting tomorrow with bated breath; I'm sure it'll be just as inspiring as tonight's painting, if not even more so. Oh dear, I must stop rambling on ... so I'll just say 'Best Wishes' from Brian.

    I am hoping to get these pencils very soon. I've been wanting them for some time. Thanks for leaving your Xmas decorations up until Epiphany! I leave mine up until the end of the Xmas Season which is in the Catholic Church the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. It is only because of the stores/commercial stuff that goes on that the week following Xmas up until New year's is now not celebrated the way it always was before. To me, the week following Xmas is a very pleasant and relaxing time to celebrate this beautiful holiday.

    Thanks Sharon !!! I am a bit of control freak...kinda...soo I owned all of Inktense and Fiber Castell Albrecht Durer, and Lyra watercolour pencils...and then some...LOL...may be too much, but it's so nice to reach for a color that others don't have !!! I'm getting reference from my swatch journal, I look at the picture I want to paint and try to match the colors pretty close and BELIEVE it or not...Inktense always has all the colors you ever need (72 count), so they're very HIGH on my list...so in my painting it could be watercolors, Inktense and some watercolour pencils...LOL...GO ALL OUT !!! For ALL kinda media as long as I can wet it, it's fine with me...LOL... Thanks for another great review Sharon !!! Keep them coming !!! ❣🤗

Maybe some forest green and the rainbow with a pot of gold...👩🏻‍🎨

    Hey Sharon ! I'm so excited about seeing your Qor review, but I can wait. I also don't take our tree down till the week or so after Christmas! These sounds awesome, where did you buy them. I can see the colors on the top of the tin. They look muted. You know Liquitex has those new muted colors in both the acrylics & the inks. I got a full size teal color one in my Art Snacks box last year. It's amazing, 1 little drop explodes into color. I'm trying too figure out what to use it in & do I want the whole set? They look amazing so far on your paper. As usual I'm watching & commenting as you go. So I'm screaming your off camera a bit there😃

    I got David a set of 12 Graphitint. We love them. They are beautiful colors. We both had been wanting them for a long time. I also got myself a set of Pan Pastels. I'm in love with them. I can't wait to get more, & more of the tools that go with them. They will last a very long time. I really think you would like them. If you haven't already tried them. I'm trying to catch up on your videos I've missed. My Granny broke her femur bone,& they put 3 pins in it. And now they have found several blood clots in her lungs. They said the surgery could have caused the clots. I was told it sometimes happens with older people, but they usually have 1 blood clot, not several. She's 96 so all they can do is give her blood thinners & try to keep her blood pressure down. But it's even more upsetting because we can't visit or be with her at this very scary time. So I am an emotional wreck. My Mom & I lived most of my childhood with her & my grandpa. So we are very close. They said pneumonia, & strokes can be side effects. At her age, well you probably know what would happen. I can't type it. Don't want to. I just wanna see her. So sorry to be unloading this here on your comments. But I will take any & all prayers & positive thoughts for her. She needs them all. She is my hero. A very tough old bird. Hehe. Thanks & I apologize for the book long message. I hope you & yours stay safe & healthy. Especially during this trying time. Thanks for all the cool content & beautiful artwork. It helps keep my mind occupied. TYFS

      Hi Kim it is no problem. You can dump to me anytime. Yes I have pan pastels, but for a long time that was my medium. Pastels that is. Pan pastels are interesting though. I only have the grays at this point. With all the regular pastels I really didn’t need the others. The toools can be nice, but I wish they’d come up with something that works a bit better on sanded paper which is what I use. Those things are so chincy that they tear so easily.
      I am sorry to hear of your grandmother’s health issues. Yes whenever surgery is done on large bones like the femur where the majority of blood supply is formed, it can cause clots to be showered through the body and usually they will end up in the lungs. Try to think positively rightnow. They didn’t end up in her brain. Blood thinners will not dissolve clots which is a common misnomer that people have. What they do is prevent them from becoming larger, or preventing more frorm forming. Then over time they dissolve on their own. She will have to be very careful that she doesn’t fall though while on thinners. She will likely need to go to an extended care facillity for rehab.
      I have prayed for her and will continue to keep her in my prayers. Have you tried Facetime or Zoom or any of the video chat apps? The nurses at the hospital can help her with that so that you can at least see her and talk with her that way.

    I am getting ready to order from Jerry's & I've got an order for Dick Blick. Blick is mostly watercolor papers. He's supposed to be really good I hear. I'm a bit interested in pigment knowledge but not crazily. Lindsy Weirch is very knowledgeable about pigments, & the spin dr is often watching her live shows. She gives him a hard time, in a fun way. I love her live shows they are so fun, her niece helps her & is a hoot! She recommends him also for knowledge. I find him a bit full of himself, so is James Bond, but he's excusable! Duh!

    I missed yesterday's video, sorry. I'll watch it but I'm sure it's still ok. You told me in a previous comment that I'd want to get lightfastness WC after I do more. I was talking of what I had, which was Windsor Newton cottman & Prima color sets. I had no idea they were not light fastness. Well the cottmans, Prima doesn't give any information on pigments or lightfastness. Yay I got my first Daniel smith color last week, opera pink. Hahahaha. I thought I ordered the set of 6 but alas I must have been dreaming! So when my SS gets here on wed I'll order it. Or before then, I tend to "borrow" from hubby. 😃

    • @Kyomiibrown
      @Kyomiibrown 7 лет назад

      Gail Gassen - most of the Cotmans are lightfast. Check here www.winsornewton.com/uk/discover/resources/composition-permanence/cotman-water-colour

    • @eirenmist12
      @eirenmist12 7 лет назад

      Gail, just so there's no confusion, opera pink is notoriously fugitive no matter the manufacturer. Daniel Smith has theirs listed as fugitive. Cotman colors have good to excellent permanence, except for a few colors which are listed on the Winsor Newton site, and many professional artists use at least some of them. Cotmans may not have some of the other properties professional grade paints may have that make them a little more enjoyable to use, but you don't have to worry about permanence any more than any other line as all lines and grades of paint have some colors which are less lightfast or even fugitive.

      Eirenmist wow thank so much for this information! I didn't know about opera pink, of course it's the very first color I buy from Daniel Smith! Haha! Well what can I say, it's a gorgeous color & it has a name not easily forgotten! :-) I'll be sure to always protect the paintings I do with this color. I wonder if the us glass is enough to protect it? I'm sorry it's been so long since you responded to this ?....I'm having the dickens of a time with all my programs since Jan 1st. I'm sure it's a security thing for my iPad. So between that & my health taking a dive it's been hard to answer or even read my emails, & other correspondence. Thank you so much tho, this was really nice of you to give me so much info!

      Sharon Cullen Art so Sharon will this fade if kept in a book like what you do. I'm not wanting to tear out any pages either from my books. I've been asked for one of my winter scenes, but I'll just have to do another one on loose paper. I'm excited to get my first Fabriano WC pad. I just ordered it today. It's only 8x10 but that's plenty big enough for me. I did get hot press because of wanting to use some of it in my mixed media class. I do have Strathmore single sheets tho. So I guess you noticed that Opera pink was the first color I bought of Daniel Smith WC. I'm such a boob! It's such a gorgeous color & I wanted it for some roses I want to do. Oh well, it will have to stay in the book! That is if it will not fade there. What about an application of that wax you showed on one of your past programs? Would that lock in the color so it wouldn't fade? Thanks for you help as always, your so helpful in advice. Actually, I received lots of help from other people also! How great is that?!?! Such a wonderfully nice thing for them to do. I learned a lot from theirs & your advice, & I got the link to Windsor & Newton in both the U.K. & the U.S/Canada site. I'm wondering about the W&N markers that are water-soluble. Lisa Clough/Lachre Fine art did a show with them last year. They seem like lots of fun, & the price isn't any worse that other markers of the same type. That means they are expensive also! I wonder how the old masters did it! I know that starving artist is defiantly not a cliche it's a fact of life for them. It's a good thing that Mother Nature has such wonderful colors to give for paints & dyes. LOL & God bless❣

    Those colors are so pretty! They'll be perfect in nature WC paintings. I finally got my Hal pan cups in the mail & filled. So now I have lightfastness colors. They were $19.99 at Jerry's for 18 colors plus blk & wht. They are $24.99 now still on sale tho, I think they were $80 before. I bought so much from Amazon at Christmas & after, they have those lightening deals that are amazing. I absolutely love Amazon. Who doesn't?! But! I need some flow acrylic from golden for a class, & they are 4.99 & 5.99 + at Jerry's & the same color is 8.99 to 10.99 on Amazon. Jerry's is having a great sale right now. So when you wet them from the tip of the pencil do you worry about the wood? Someone put that in a recent comment to Lisa Clough on her last review of her smart box. It looks like a fun box, Lisa is so funny sometimes. She's the very first person I watched when I started watching you tube. She gave me back my desire to get back into art. So she'll always be special in my heart. When I watched her video on her physical problems & how since school she's had it I think I cried for ever because of what I've gone thru for these last years. That was my turning point to pick up my art again. It has been a lifeline for me.......and except for my gift shop I can't think of anything that has put such a dent in my finances! Haha.. if your ever interested in seeing pictures of my shop you can check them out on its Facebook page...Painted Birdhouse Designs. I'm thinking hard of adding some different art items to buy instead of going to town.. I know I'm adding coloring books & the pencils. Well I just love this guy! I want him !!!!! He really looks like he could squawk at you❣ so will you sell him!???? I'm very serious here. I love him! There's a children's book artist that I just love, her name is Susie ? Well pardon the senior moment. I knew her name before I typed it dang... but even her clouds are in the shape of the rabbits etc. ok this "comment" seems long enough, do you ever get complaints about a certain person having long comments??? Namely me❣ And you answered my previous question about getting the wood wet. I'm sure it's the quality you buy. Diesel sounds like such a fun dog. I know that breed has so much personality. My ex mom in-law had one, I liked her others dogs tho & I can't spell that & neither can spell check obviously! The little Mexican breed. How'll I'll be called racist! Hahahaha😜❣ We have a Doxie, he's had some bad months lately, & he's better now tho..ok you done with Ossie & I love him...it's a really nice landscape, after all you were trying a new product! LOL & God bless❣

      Sharon Cullen Art ok I'll do that. Sorry I'm so behind in answering all of your comments. I've had a heck of a time with all my things on my iPad. Since the first of the years everything that I automatically go into now asks for my passwords & my username. Now I'm usually on my iPad at night or early morning. So it's hard to look all that up when a grumpy ol' guy next to you wants to know why you have the light own making noise!😂 so I've had to change everything again. Then answer why I did or yes that's was me! It's great security, I just wish I had the same paw for everything!!😅 I'll get with you about that little guy you did. He's so adorable, & of course you can't tack him out of your sketch book❣ I didn't even think about that, sorry. I do wonder if you've used that sketchbook of Pentalic that is like an accordion!? It's only 12$ , but I've wanted one of those for some reason. Strathmore has one also, & I wondered which one, if either, was better. They both have great reviews. I'd like to do a 4 seasons in one. Do you think that would be a great idea? It would defiantly be a long one. :) Pentalic sis 10 pages. Not sure about the Strathmore one. I think it's the same. Except the Pentalic one isn't very big as far as book size. Also I'm thinking I want that Pentalic landscape one that is also longer. I've got the big one, wow I love it! It's gorgeous with the trees & words silver. I'm at a loss as what to put in it, but I'm thinking that the Amish one like yours maybe. I love that painting you did. You should do one out of a book & sell it. Lots of artist have an etsy shop. I'm trying to talk my daughter into the red bubble one, since she doesn't want to set on a friends toes. She does shirts, & cups, etc. she's using my silhouette. Now there's a story I could tell you! But I'll save it, it's about why I spent over $300. for my silhouette & about 3-4 months later boxed it up & put it in our spare room. In-laws are so wonderful!, not 😠 ❗ anyway you should sell your art more. I know you do a lot of commissions though. I think that's wonderful. Also it sounds like your very busy outside of your painting I know. Just a thought on my part. You do such beautiful work! Thanks so much! (I'm happy to see you also do Amazon smile) 👍🏻 God bless❣
