Tolstoy war and peace.a book that everyone should read.the original title of the book was war and society until 1917.an excellent opera from Prokofiev.
no it was called "war and peace" from its original book publication . "mir" (peace) in russian however does have many meanings, including "commune"

An outstanding addition to an outstanding collection. The stereo quality is quite lovely wirh earphones. And Dima moves pretty well, for a baritone. ;-) Many thanks.

Besides, he's Prince Andrey--a bit shy, a bit awkward, a bit tentative at first. He (Dima) really is quite athletic and graceful. A cultural tidbit: in American musical comedy, until fairly recently, it was considered easier to teach a dancer to sing than vice versa. Which led a Viennese visitor to comment after seeing a Broadway performance, "Interesting. Nobody could sing, and everybody sang."
I'm a big fan and I heard Dima explain that dancing and acting lessons are mandatory and included in the curriculum for an opera singer's education. As are fencing and learning to fall down without breaking your legs, no doubt. He went to various music schools from 6 to 21. Bit more than your average musical artist right?

You all seem to be so enthusiastic about this production. Then I am sure you would all be in rapture if you saw Prokofiev's original version of this scene without the unnecessary cuts (and in this particular version, the director's deliberate change and reshuffling of musical numbers!) and in its glorious and exciting choreography. The singing I find really good.

Na verdade Dima não está desajeitado. Ele interpreta e muito bem, o desajeitado e tímido príncipe. Convenceu a todos, não?
I agree 100%. And not just that! The better knowing stage director has replaced the original closing ecossaise with a repetition of the ending of the waltz. Just to explain the musical harm it has caused will take three pages, let alone explaining the artistic, philosophical and psychological elements which the stage director has neglected with this unnecessary change just to satisfy his ego.
i couldnt stop laughing while watching this bcuz he seems to b trying to hard,... but it was very enjoyable!!!!!

Does anyone know the music that starts at 4:48? Is it from another Prokofiev piece? I don't recall that section of the music in the original version of the waltz but I like it very much :D
yeah his tights r very tight!!!!!!!!!! its very funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he just looks uncomfortable dancing and running and falling on the ground........... he doesnt look like he likes that scene at all!!!!!!!
