    So I'm watching this WAAAAY after this first aired....& now I know why I've just LOVED watching him skate. I love his self awareness, his honesty, & his love of life. NO pretensions. & the whole business of being in the next to last flight of skaters at the Lillehammer games, then bowing to the audience at the beginning of the warmup - totally class act & acknowledgement of, well this isn't what we expected, but here we are. I miss him.

    What fun! Kurt has always been my favorite guy skater -- emphasis on 'always.' (... since the glory days of skating.) Among other programs, his "Singing in the Rain" will never be forgotten! What a wonderful competitive and professional career, with so much joy brought to so many. . Nice to hear him up close and personal like this. Kudos for you, Dave. -- another interesting, enjoyable interview.

    Kurt did a double axel in hockey skates. That's metal af.

    • @TheSkatingLesson
      @TheSkatingLesson 5 лет назад +8

      He also did a quad salchow on one of his first tries!

    • @missj794
      @missj794 5 лет назад +1

      Apparently he was working on a quad axel as well back in the day, he said he talked with Yuzu about it a few weeks ago, sort of comparing notes about their experience with the jump.

    • @TheSkatingLesson
      @TheSkatingLesson 5 лет назад +2

      Janel normally, I would roll my eyes over a skater suggesting this (like when Tom Z takes a video in a harness), but Kurt training a quad axel seems very possible.

    • @missj794
      @missj794 5 лет назад +1

      Ya, he admitted he never landed it, the rotation time in the air felt so long, he would pull out too early...that extra half rotation obviously makes a huge difference.
