Marin bikes have been on my radar for a while now so this was an excellent video on the Rift Zone. My only issue is the weight at just over 34 lbs. That is NOT lightweight, especially when you consider that my nearly stock (just modified with 1x SRAM GX 12 speed) 2001 Cannondale Jekyll comes in at just under 29.5 lbs. My 2012 Scalpel is under 26lbs.. Somehow as MTB's have progressed in capabilities and technology they have gotten FAT like the rest of America. 🤣 I'd likely jump on a Marin Rift Zone for sure if they offered a bare frame option in alloy instead of only in Carbon. Back to my feedback on your video, Great job of highlighting that Marin includes a torque tool with their bikes, KUDOS to them for that! I'll definitely will be watching more videos from you in the future.
Just sold my Marin. It’s an excellent bike BUT if you are tall and ride aggressively I wouldn’t recommend it. My XL frame cracked at the seam at the top tube right after my first year. It was replaced under warranty. Also, the reach is pretty short so I picked up a longer stem. Another thing that I would upgrade is the brakes. I had the older 180/160 version and the rear brake faded out on steep descents. Lastly, they probably fixed it but my dropper post lever was poorly designed as it would prematurely wear out the cable. I upgrade the dropper to the 150 and that one came with a much better designed lever.
That is a great point. And would be a super fun upgrade process. Thanks I really might do that. Did you have any issues at all that I should know about?
@@RunBikeMike I just upgraded to Deore MT6100 brake levers today and now have that one finger braking that I desired. Super easy just swap levers, reconnect cables, and bleed brakes. Very noticeable improvement despite keeping MT201 calipers
i have the mt200's, first ride when I took out my new bike, it was weak and a little scary. Then I did a hard braking on the way back home on a downhill asphault trail and the brakes got instantly 3x+ more powerful. it is a funny feeling
Very informative video. I dont know if you using the right tone and manner of speaking in this video tho. You sound like a vice new reporter. It would be nice to just hear you speak like you would talk to a friend. Either way you got a new sub.
I have a Riftzone 3 27.5 2022 I hope this bike will be the last bike ill ever need and last me years to come I don’t plan to get another bike crossing my fingers I heard of the earlier models 2022 and earlier seat tube where the 2nd small tube is welded is it’s weak point and cracks over time hopefully that doesn’t happen to mine
The Flow Snaps that came on my Polygon Siskiu T7 had some insane grip! But that came at a heavy cost of also having serious rolling resistance. I put them aside for whenever I get an ebike. I have Maxxis DHF and Dissector now and it rolls significantly faster. I do miss that grip though. They never slipped. Even on the loosest of climbs.
You shud look at BTWIN bikes - rockrider series my hardball cost 550 awesome bike and the other specs upto ST900 they've 3 full suspension , all between £550 - £850 .
@runbikemike do you mind me asking how tall you are? I am trying to get a size reference for myself I am 10'10" thinking of if I would prefer a medium or a large in this bike
The T7 costs a little more at $1,899 and is more of a trail bike and less of a downcounty bike like the Marin. Now the D7 costs $1,599 maybe that is the bike you are talking about. Either way all three bikes are super nice and you can't go wrong with anyone of them.
@@RadioReprised Not necessarily as polygon uses Bushings instead of bearings which was a let down for me. However it does come with much better components
Nice work bro!
😊thanks
So glad you didnt get hit in the head with the next upgrade! Another great job!!

Hey Mike, if you want really good brakes and single finger ones just grab xt levers, makes a huge difference, had the m200s on my giant stance!

Yeah I know that feeling. They are breaking much better now.
Welcome to the Marin club got mine in June same as yours loving it switched out to a 40mm stem and a race face atlas 35mm handle bar. Awesome pick!!
Awesome and thanks 😊
I had an X Fusion shock on my 2017 Polygon T7. The shock worled well and I had no complaints with it. Nice bike

Thanks for watching, the advice, and the sub.
It's not a bad spec for a budget bike. Not a fan of the low end SRAM forks but that can be solved easily enough.
I have been happy with it so far but I plan to definitely upgrade.

This bike is great, recently got one for my mom and she loves it for xc/trail riding
Great bike! My local shop has a 2 for the same price as the 1
I have a hawk hill 2 and it is a uper fun bike . They shouldn't have stopped selling them .
hey, do you think i shoukd get myself a XL frame? im 6'1
It might fit you better than a large.
Veetire makes some good tires. They make some pretty good mountain bike trails tires. I've used the flow snap tires a couple times.
So far for my local trails they are working really well.

Great bike! Fun, poppy, and climbs. Swapped the tires, however.
Great video
This might be a good option for my little shredders
Good content man but why does everyone have a "youtube accent" when they talk?
Looking forward for the next video update!!
does the rear shock have a lock?
Not on this model. I believe the RZ2 does
What are your thoughts on this versus the Siskui D7?
Both are great bikes. I like the Marin as it weighs a little less.
@runbikemike do you mind me asking how tall you are? I am trying to get a size reference for myself I am 10'10" thinking of if I would prefer a medium or a large in this bike
I am 5’11” and the large fits perfectly
@@RunBikeMike thank you for replying and your videos got me pumped up to ride
At 10'10" you might need a penny-farthing 😅
@@Ben198809 😆 that was a typo actually 5' 10"
How tall are you? Thinking about getting one in the large size
5’11” and the large fits me perfectly
I have 6 2 feet. Can i buy a Large?
I have the same marin. But im having a hard time looking for TA skewers compatible with riftzone 1. Im from Philippines btw
Check Wheels manufacturer that sell a lot. If it help it takes the exact same as the polygon siskiu T7.
@@RunBikeMike do they have the same dimensions?
@@kaycee4765 yes on my T7 it will work on the Marin Rift Zone from 2022. It won’t work on the 2023 Rift Zone
@@RunBikeMike i found an axle. Here is the measurements...
175L, 1.5 pitch, 19mm thread length.
Would this fit? Btw, thank you for helping me out.
@@kaycee4765 it might be close. The specs you need are 12mm by 174mm p1.5 and thread length 20. Its worth a shot on seeing if it will work.
does it comes in frame set only? ✌️✌️✌️
Not in aluminum
You got a free torque wrench in that box???
Yeah it’s a little baby one. So cool.
Marinnnnn🎉🎉🎉🎉
UNREALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Totally 💯
meh-ran?
Man no dropper
Definitely getting one soon. 😉
The Polygon Siskiu T7 is waaay cheaper and more value for your money.

That's a sweet bike at a great price, I'm excited to see what you do with it!
So far I am loving it. I am excited for some upgrades too.
