Adam I am SOOOO JEALOUS of that costume!!! I have been a Chewbacca for several parades around my community, using my own homemade costume. Sadly, last year I lost the costume to a water leak accident. It wasn't nearly as good looking as yours! But it really did warm my heart to see the kids light up when they saw me!!!! Made me feel like I was contributing in a small way in keeping Star Wars alive for future generations. I'm going to try and rebuild this year! But just wanted to say how great your costume looks!!!!!
Tom and Adam are great together. Cosplay 101 mini-series. How to make a costume;look real; from scratch; on a decent budget. THAT would be a great little show.
As a chewbacca obsessive and sculpted and maker of four versions so far, this is a great video of info but ultimately gives a great explanation of the hard work of creating a chewbacca mask. I thank you
Just love how enthusiastic Tom is ,when talking about the mask and all the little details. Just goes to show he is really passionate about his work and is really a SW fan.
Graham Gibby - sometime in the ‘90s somebody decided hand-held shaky-cam with occasional random crash zoom was exciting and sexy camera work and I’ve been feeling nauseous ever since, if we’re now remembering how to compose a decent shot and hold it reasonably still again I will be SOOOOOO thankful that that particular trend has finally ended. Please, please, please, please, please!
Lumibear- I seem to recall the first time I noticed that style of cinema verte` camera work was on the TV show called Hill Street Blues. It seemed contrived and phony then and many people couldn't watch the show because it was too jarring to them.
Lethgar Smith - The first time I recall seeing it, it was on some ‘yoof’ uktv show on channel 4, The Tube perhaps, something like that, all my friends raved about the show and I just couldn’t watch it because I wanted to step into the tv, slap the stoned chimp holding the camera, take it off them and hand it to LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE!
Lumibear , I watch wrestling and if you watch any current WWE match there is constant zooming in and out to match every strike or move, it looks like a child has the camera and is rocking the zoom back and forth in sync with rapid punches it's nauseating. There's a few compilations highlighting how bad it really is.
This is an incredible video. I don't know where else you'd be able to go to see and learn about something like this. Thanks Adam and the other folks at Tested.
if wookies are kept in a cage so they do not move to much and you do not let them get to old, their meat is so super tender! The old ones become like beef jerky
Wow! Fantastic job! One can truly appreciate the talent, passion and tenacity to create (and sometimes re-create) these wonderful special projects/effects. Thanks so much for posting. Thoroughly enjoyable.
This was very cool and fun to watch. Adam is a sharp guy who knows how to have fun. Engineer / Goofball enough to get into amazing / mundane things and have a blast with them both. I will say this to the following “...Once all the details are right, everything starts to fall into place...”. Jaime H. would say: “Actually, when all the details are right, there is nothing left to fall into place. Don’t say extra words...”
I was amazed at the stretchiness of the fur fabric, even before they mentioned that part of it. As Adam was messing with it, I could tell that he was also intrigued with that aspect of it. I have made a number of stuffed animal toys with other faux furs. The fabric backing not only does not stretch very well, it's fairly stiff, and it's also thick! I can not imagine making a fur suit out of it as it would trap so much of your own body heat inside the costume roasting you out of it. I mean you could really pass out from heat exhaustion. This newer faux fur is amazing! I looked up the company they mentioned and it is indeed in Lawrence Massachusetts. I think it's pretty neat that they make such a cool fabric in my State. Most textile industries have disappeared from the New England area. I am saving their website in my Pinterest account.
Absolutely fascinating. Amazing dedication to the process of wanting nothing short of perfection. A great tip of the hat to Peter Mayhew and his contribution in making Chewie authentic and the stunning genious that was Stuart Freeborn. What's not to love about this video? Fantastic job to all involved making the Chewie mask and the video.
A good costume is one that is one that is a work in progress. Sometimes. Don't he Chewie. Be a Wookie. As Wookies are awesome. Only they could make something from wood that can resist a Lightsaber (Canon too).
Wow, I have always wanted a good chewie mask but this is something that you need to have a movie sized budget or be an artist yourself to ever have. I have so much more respect for the top level cos players now.
On TV, this would have unnecessary 3d graphic cutaways, be mostly B roll footage, have Grant Imahara summarizing the conversation every 3 minutes and be cut to 13 minutes with commercials.
I really love this for 2 reasons, its just so awesome to see people SO INTO what they are 'into' i guess lol and that 2nd it makes me so much less weird about the specifics that im super into :)
Please do that guy the courtesy of blackening your lids when you wear that costume. That dude is amazing. Dibs on that guy, for any team, for any project, ever.
Throughout this I kept imagining the anatomy of Chewie. The mask and mold really set an idea of what the skull would look like. It would be cool if these guys worked with Jason Freeny to make a small scale model of wookie anatomy.
This is way better than the suits used in the prequels and even the new trilogy. Shame the actual movie crew didn't go into this level of detail when they re created the character.
Tom and his crew are simply amazing. I would say they are magicians, but that would detract from the stunning amount of skill and talent they possess. I love looking in the background at what else is around the shop. Was that a Voldemort head up on the shelf? What's the story with that?
Ungoogleable o_O I can make my own dentures, can't do surgical dental work, but the dentist's over charge way too much for dentures ,it's almsot hilarious hwo much they screw people with how easy they are to make.
@@daveschall8764 actually most dentist do not make the Dentures they take the Impressions and send it to a dental lab where dental lab technicians actually make the order of the dentures, my father was a dental lab technician for over 35 years I used to play with the Impressions and teeth that he had in the closet.
I loved this, but I honestly thought I was watching Adam interview Uri Geller... I was waiting for him to bend a spoon dressed as Chewie! Wonderful work
Fantastic to see the processes that have to be gone through, but one thing they didn't cover - how to colour the nose and lips on the silicone mask. Post painted or cast -in?
Adam, It really looks like the undercast could have been partly the inspiration for Bossk. Am I the only one that thought that when seeing it? Also, with the hair punched into silicone can it be easily pulled out? That would be a fear of mine after all those hours of work, a small child grabs your chin hair and pulls. Love the videos and your passion.

Awesome, Adam and Tom need their own video series. Watching these two guys geek out together puts the biggest smile on my face.

Adam is the best thing that happened on Tested.
Pharmit24 I mean he found Tested with Jamie (who ultimately left) so with out him there wouldn’t be Tested so ya guess
Adam and Jaime didn't start tested.
Tested was founded by Will and Norm, it was later acquired by Adam and Jamie, then Jamie left.
He’s the reason why I’m subscribed to this channel for 4/5 years
Now if we can just get rid of those other 2 annoying guys. We're all set.
Thank you Adam and the Tested team for coming to hang at our studio for a bit!
Nice job, Tom. :)
I realy enjoyed this vid Tom. Yust a classical show how you both showed it to us, yust perfect to the spot!
You're a very talented dude, Tom. I appreciate your passion and care.
thankya, Larry!
Truly outstanding work.
Tom and Adam are great together. Cosplay 101 mini-series. How to make a costume;look real; from scratch; on a decent budget. THAT would be a great little show.
Need more of Tom, loving the episodes with him and Adam.
Man, Tom Spina and his team are just amazing. And you can see how thrilled the guy is from having worked on that.
This could actually be used in production as a backup, so much detail and really true to the original
The level of enthusiasm that most every FX person has for their craft always amazes me. Very cool to see people who truly love what they do.
I LOVE this guy's enthusiasm and shop. He makes the video so fun to watch, nice job 👌 awesome video!!
I love tom and adam's passion for this and how engaged each of them are
Tom seems like a really happy guy. You can tell he loves going into work
This shop looks like a magic wonderland. I want to go there and just gently touch stuff (with permission).
LOL, the 'S' is at the front...
humans are animals

"simple is genius"
Funny seeing you comment on a non-theme park video, but I suppose this is still Disney.
the process is mind blowing. The finished product is out of this world. It's so frrrrrreaking good. Love it.
Big props to the very steady hand on the camera.
FINALLY someone who noticed this. I've been feeling a little dizzy watching TESTED and i figured out why a few days ago: The earthshake camera!
I love how he complimented Peter Mayhew on that he actually WAS Chewie.
This is an incredible video. I don't know where else you'd be able to go to see and learn about something like this. Thanks Adam and the other folks at Tested.
This is disgusting. They may not be endangered but skinning and selling wookie pelts is not only disrespectful but also damages their economy
#wookielivesmatter
Are you a rebel sympathizer? The Empire takes pride in degrading and selling the wookies for pelts and slavery uses!
RAAAAAAARGHHHH!
if wookies are kept in a cage so they do not move to much and you do not let them get to old, their meat is so super tender! The old ones become like beef jerky
*wookiee
As someone trying to get into the fx world from a third world country, this videos are a blessing. Thanks for showing the process!
Stu Freeborn amazing man with fantastic stories of his time in films. Missed but not forgotten.
Wow! Fantastic job! One can truly appreciate the talent, passion and tenacity to create (and sometimes re-create) these wonderful special projects/effects. Thanks so much for posting. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Thanks Tom, appreciate you giving so much detail on the process, great video!

Amazing how much goes into that head. Love the enthusiasm discussing all the hard work that goes into it....as it should be. Thanks for posting!
Every time I see a video of Adam I see pure joy and excitement!
15:47 - implying that a Boba Fett costume is somewhat under construction? Would love to see that
501st costume, on hard mode.
Adam's Chewie looks better than the one in Episode 7.
Is always so nice to see adam on this kind of projects
I love how each of them had several "YES!!!" Moments while talking to each other 😆😆
These dorks are too damn cute
You can almost feel the love that they have for their job!
For working on these....
...ALIENS
Almost
almost? I'm feeling 7 kinds of fuzzy warm over here. ^^
*ALIENS*
Truly astonishing work. That IS chewie! That mask of Peter too.. wonderful!
I love Adam! If there is an award for geek of the century, he is a shoe in!
It's like you hunted a bunch of fictional characters and then mounted them all over the shop.
I love how accessible this is to the average person!!
Lots of talent and enthusiasm, a formula for brilliance
AMAZING GUY!! We need more!
It’s ok that mine isn’t movie quality
XD its not so much about the finished product, as the love and hard work one has put into it
Lol, step Brothers
A good costume is one that is one that is a work in progress. Sometimes. Don't he Chewie. Be a Wookie. As Wookies are awesome. Only they could make something from wood that can resist a Lightsaber (Canon too).
Because you're doing it wrong. First you get the money. 💰 Then you get the Power. 🔋 Then you get the wookie. 🍪
this guy is really passionate about what he does. that's awesome.
Wow, I have always wanted a good chewie mask but this is something that you need to have a movie sized budget or be an artist yourself to ever have. I have so much more respect for the top level cos players now.
this was amazing to see and to learn how much goes into making right and I liked the shout out to the Freeborns!
I love these. What i see and hear really gets me startet to just do and experiment with things
That was a public service to fans of the star wars universe. My childhood thank's you, I thank you.
As a lifelong fan- born in 72 for cred- I see a lot of Bossk in the hairless version. Very cool.
simply put on such a complicated build... AMAZING!
Amazing to see how much time and effort goes into something like that. Great to see passion like that as well. I’m very jealous lol.
"If you don't have the job you want make it." Wisest words I heard today.
The concave red shell of the mold is AWESOME looking! Reminds me of the Halloween faces that follow you. I would love to have one of those!
and he truly did get it right, hat's off! Magnificent!
Always so motivational! Love the attention to detail every step of the way.
Why am I paying my TV licence when this channel is on RUclips?
On TV, this would have unnecessary 3d graphic cutaways, be mostly B roll footage, have Grant Imahara summarizing the conversation every 3 minutes and be cut to 13 minutes with commercials.
I really enjoyed this. Making rubber latex masks are a huge hobby of mine.
Thanks for making this video, it was amazing. Would love to see a full length video on hair punching on a project.
Oh man I love the features on props!
I really love this for 2 reasons, its just so awesome to see people SO INTO what they are 'into' i guess lol and that 2nd it makes me so much less weird about the specifics that im super into :)
Thanks Adam and Tom!! Your love and appreciation of the process down to the tiny details let’s us share that experience with you!!
😀🕺🏻🎥🏖🇦🇺
R.I.P Peter Mayhew... we cant thank you enough for what you have given us...
Did Adam spoil that he is building a boba fett costume ???
I've been waiting for this my whole life
This was AMAZING!
That much detail.
What a great series with Regal Robot! Thanks!
i have seen every single myth busters and i love them.
Epic breakdown, phenomenal work by all. Thanks for sharing. Dddrrrrrrrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrr.
Please do that guy the courtesy of blackening your lids when you wear that costume. That dude is amazing. Dibs on that guy, for any team, for any project, ever.
I don’t even like Star Wars but Adam makes everything interesting.

Look at the face of the left guy
Glory Passion xD
Glory that is called listening before talking, and a lot of people should learn from him...
yup!
This is exactly the type of thing I appreciate being brought to my attention. A+
Came to the comments looking for this
This is way better than the suits used in the prequels and even the new trilogy. Shame the actual movie crew didn't go into this level of detail when they re created the character.
Oh! that reminds me.. gotta buy razors this week.

wow cheers to tom for being able to re-create all the details that matter in a Chewbacca mask! great mask Adam. subscribe from me forsure
Fascinating❣️Extremely interesting process. Thx. for showing us.
Those teeth are nicely glazed, looks like someone knows how to do dentures.
Ungoogleable o_O I can make my own dentures, can't do surgical dental work, but the dentist's over charge way too much for dentures ,it's almsot hilarious hwo much they screw people with how easy they are to make.

Fantastic episode !!
That mask is amazing!
These two were absolutely giddy
I loved this, but I honestly thought I was watching Adam interview Uri Geller... I was waiting for him to bend a spoon dressed as Chewie! Wonderful work
What an incredible artist.
Fantastic to see the processes that have to be gone through, but one thing they didn't cover - how to colour the nose and lips on the silicone mask. Post painted or cast -in?
Very impressive work, done to a way higher standard than the original first one! Chewie has evolved over the years?
Thank you for this.......Chewie is my favorite Star Wars character.
Dang I didn't realize how much Peter Mayhew resembles Alfred Hitchcock....or is it just me?
He's totally Hitchcock's reincarnation! Hahaha!
How should we know if you look like Alfred Hitchcock?
Be My Trophy what??
Well you asked if Peter Mayhew resembles Alfred Hitchcock or if its just you
How should I know
Incredible!
Everything looks so damn accurate!
holy shit, i pass by this place all the time and had no idea what it was. Now i wonder if they do tours
now THIS is content!
You said you were doing a Boba Fett. We need your Bob E Feet build videos!
beautifully done!
Steve Richter!!! He did that jumanji board. Adam...u should do a step by step of the jumanji build!! And build one!!! Please! Haha that would be great
Amazing work!
I love how you can hear Adam's intake of breath when he hears about the 3d print of the original.
Thanks...amazing.... talented and creative artists.
Incredible mask.
Unbelievably awesome! How much hair was used of each color for the suit?
Yes, VERY interesting. Thank you. 🌻
The actor who played Chewbacca in the original movies Peter Mayhew just passed away R.I.P. you were the true "chewy"...
