My friends have all decided they’ll keep consuming forever, chasing the meta, chasing codex creeps, and selling their “disallowed” vintage models. I quit the hobby in 8th, played since 3rd. GW never changes. Greedy, nasty corp, they’d stick a knife in your back if it means they could add 0.02 to msrp.
I’ve always been pretty in love with Warhammer- both fantasy and 40K, and AoS isn’t that bad once you get into it. That said, some of the recent lore developments, like Primaris, have been LAZY. Like, inexcusably so. Female Custodes just… seem like a thing that makes enough sense? I genuinely don’t see the issue. To put a finer point on it, if they come out with a hyper-sexualized mini for a female Custodes, I will be annoyed. Part of what works for Stormcasts or the newer Guard models, is that the difference in gender is negligible. You could, with the newer guard, assemble a squad as all women, or all men, because the literal difference is the head component. From a lore perspective though, I think this is lazy, but not atrocious. It’s never been shown before, and it might be a retcon (I can’t say for certain it is or isn’t), but retcons have happened before, they’ll happen again, and if that’s the case? We can deal with it, or choose to give up on liking the lore/hobby. I definitely prefer the ‘who cares?’ perspective. This change has negligible impact.
I also want to add- Old World has been so much fun, and 10th edition 40K has been so much garbage, that I’ve almost stopped playing 40K by now, but that’s because for the first time ever, I don’t like the game. There’s nothing fluffy or crunchy to 10th, and that’s really got me disappointed a bit at the moment. I do still love 40K from lore, though, I just think this little lore change/tidbit isn’t impactful.
I think the problem isn't that they have added the female custodes but that gw lied and said they have always been there. We all know it isn't true and instead of just being honest and saying 'we thought it would be cool to have female custodes' they lied and then blocked anyone that disagreed.

Could you make another video about how you are going to base your chariot? It looks quite tricky to do, or are you gonna pop it off again for the basing?
Yeah man i agree there so many awesome companies out there. i went through a big oathmark phase but now the old world is back i want to get those old nostalgic models. Im just going to base around the chariot. The basing im going for will be fine to just place around the models.
The only reason space marines are all male is that the few female power armored adventurers they sold in the 80's didn't sell well. GW wasn't doing it for lore purity. The custodes didn't even have a model range until 2017's Fall of Cadia campaign. As you said, Stormcast Eternals sell better than when they were released in 2015 and they have a mix of male and female models. Times change and what people buy has changed. Why would they keep custodes male only if power armored women sell? Everyone likes the Votann and their old model range (squats) never had female space dwarves.
@@krisbrooks1825 40k and AoS are two different things. Stormcast are popular because they are the Space Marines of AoS. Custodians were already a niche faction and making a lore change to appeal to group that very rarely buys miniatures isn't going to improve sales.

I still like 40K, but haven’t taken the lore seriously since the whole Grey Knights killing the Sisters of Battle for their blood nonsense. I enjoy the universe overall, and just ignore the parts I don’t like and play in the parts of the sandbox I like.
I like the idea of female custodes. They could have rolled it out better, sure. This really shouldnt bother people to the scale ive seen. Im sure there is a very small minority of people that are genuinely upset but the vast majority of the pushback are from people with political agendas, trolls, ect. Whatever drama there is will be gone in a month or 2
It more to do with what they see happen to other fandoms when they try to cater/pander to ppl outside the fandom and start to get hostile/reject the core fans.

Not because there are females... its because we see this happen again and again and again... and each small incursion to the lore and history, each slight against the fans... just builds and builds until no-one is left to defend it and we have the remaining slop like Star wars, Dr Who, Modern comics and Disney. People may say they dont care now... but they just havent reached the line that finally makes them stand up and say NO

Totally ok if you don't want to boycott 😎🤙 As long as you are aware of the changes at GW and their silly intent behind it that's all we can ask. For me I stopped buying and will only participate in second hand or proxy fantasy with wargames atlantic, oathmark or victrix, all of which are way more deserving of my coin. I also don't buy the new books as they are full of toxic ideology that poison fantasy stories, there are so many great fantasy novels pre2013 that are cheap to pickup now so I'm still enjoying the setting.

I'm staying with 40k, but I also reject these changes - not because I am principally opposed to female custodes, but because of how it was done, because they lied and because they are clearly pandering to meaningless contemporary politics. Thats the brilliant part, they are my miniatures, my paints, my books and my fun. I decide what "canon" means, for me and I don't have to justify it to anyone - ergo: Female custodes are not real, they don't exist. Simple as that.

I thought the series was supposed to be Eisenhorn. Personally, Guard do nothing in 40k but get killed. I wouldn't mind some super soldier action.
