Wow, first speaker line company to NOT push you to their flagship? to essentially say the S and R sound the same but only SPL is the differentiating factor is a phenomenal, massive change in speaker design & sales phiolosophy I've never seen before. This makes me FAR more positive towards swapping out my Arendal 1723S front 3 for 3 Perlistns. Anyone at audioholics willing to give a comparison between the two and if this would be a good, rangible upgrade? I was going to buy 2x expensive amps rathere than my current nakamichis but to me, it just makes more sense to pump the money into a better speaker line for the front 3 at least and upgrade amps later where diminishing returens seems to kick in more quickly.
Beautiful looking speakers. I thought it had the new Satori TeXtream drivers in it as they look the same But they are different as I seen the drivers out of the cabinet as shown on the website. I wonder how the Perlisten would compare with VAF Signature I-93MKII that's in the same price range. VAF that's rated at 92db each speaker and 220.49 lbs that only has 2x7 inch drivers but sounds like it has 12s as it can play that low. Absolutely amazing clean sound with deep bass. Excellent for music and home theatre. Award winning speakers apparently too. I think VAF made in UK or Australia. . I'm in Canada. I sold my Paradigm signature s8 for the VAF Signature I-93MKII. The difference between them was noticeable different. The clarity of the VAF was astonishing better.
Hi Gene, I hope this meets your eyes as I’m a month late to this video. Is it correct to assume that R7t towers would sound / perform same as S7t towers in a relatively smaller room? I mean the loudness in details/dynamics. /Anuj
I look forward to seeing how they build out their in-wall line up in the years ahead. I love having the Focal 1000 in both of my rooms, but down the road if I want to try something new and spend more money for the fun of it, maybe I'd try Perlisten.
Need 2 channel speakers, not AV. How do Perlisten speakers in general handle lower listening levels with regards to tonal accuracy, timbre, clarity and focus.
These have the same dynamics, but not as loud as the s7t. Trying to make sense of this comment. Is dynamics defined as the difference between dB in the quite vs loud parts of a song or movie? Since this speaker doesn’t have as high max spl the dynamics get compressed at louder listening levels where that happens at a higher volume with the s7t?
Yep, it needs to be half price when they don't sell all that much at full price. The quarter price and 1/10th price models should be released soon as well.
Gene, I love what you do. To be honest though, I bet both models are very nice. Exceptional. But there are still very nice towers out there at let's say 4k to 7k. Do the Perlistens sound that much better for 6k to 13k more? I'd challenge that. You know what model comes to mind that should really give the Perlistens a run for their money at $6100. Atlantic Technology 8600eLR. Gene, you should check it out.
@@Audioholics I understand that but there comes a point where you stop turning up the volume right? And that spot is going to be pretty much so the same on all speakers. Even if it's clean output 100db is 100db. Did you check out the Atlantic technology speakers I mentioned?
@@ryanschipp8513 depends in room size, listening habits, etc. The new Atlantic Tech towers look like a hot mess from the reviews I've seen so far. We will pass on those.
@@ryanschipp8513 Those speakers look really nice. It's a shame they don't measure well. Maybe calibration will bring them in line but the perlisten make it so you don't need ceiling absorbers. They have a 20 degree dispersion out of the tweeter.
Aesthetically, they don’t look as expensive as they cost IMHO. Too much plastic and dirty looking cone material. Even the S model has the checkerboard pattern, looks cheap to me. The subs don’t look too bad though.
How does this tiny company have the technology to compete with B&w/Kef/focal/dynaudio? That’s why I’m so skeptical 🤨 I guess Tesla beat all the existing auto makers so there’s always that! Rooting for the underdog here, and can’t wait to listen to these sometime in the near future
The people behind this "tiny company" have designed and engineered loudspeakers for decades for some very large and familiar brands. Do a little research and you will see.
@@Audioholics Gene, can you focus on an episode where you talk about how the audio industry works and how the same designers actually design for various companies? Thanks!
I wonder how they compare to say Revel 228be/328be. They also play loud and clean.

Love Perlisten definitely aspirational, you guys are doing a great JOB!
Finally some videos about the R-series, this is what I am building my endgame cinema with :).
half price is still too expensive 🤣
Would love to see an R5T vs Arendal 1723 S comparison. At different price points. Is it worth the extra?

Don Dunn is not as tall as I imagined, but I am not tall too….there can be lots of power in smaller packages 🕺🏻
Beautiful speakers but the price! My god!
I love to windowshop but these prices are rediculous!

Except Perlisten is killing it. Just because these products cost more than you're able or willing to spend, it doesn't make them a bad value.
its time for Audioholics to do factory tours!
Believe it or not, we used to do this like crazy back in 2002-2007. Now with technology, we do them virtually here :)
The factory is in China.

Hi Gene, have you tried the Denon PMA-A110 with any Perlisten speakers?
Not yet but it should rock em for sure.
@@Audioholics Thanks so much for the response. I'm looking to eventually get the S7ts. I hope the A110 gives them justice.
More 3-D, please!
Thanks for this video! I am curious if an S5t might be in the works, or would the price difference vs the S7t be too little?
Perlisten or Jl gotham? I need your advice thank you
Both great options. Perlisten is the best sub we've tested to date.

Seems likely.

It's not just about sound quality but sustained clean output. Few speakers cheaper than Perlisten can play as loudly with so much finesse.

It sounded like he said "soap" when asked what the drivers were made of. What are they made of?
Silk, I believe... as he continued detailing the HF drivers characteristics.

Yes indeed the checkerboard Pattern look ugly for my, and distracts in a bad way
They look like a cheap big box purchase in my opinion.

One of the engineers used to work for M&K Sound. So he just took all his knowledge from M&K and brought it to Perlisten. Simple as that ;-)
