Our hijinks were so hilarious that my wife who previously had only played puzzle games on her phone demanded that we show her how to play so she could join the fun. We now all play together a couple times a week. Thank you.

They added a bunch of basic camos 🤣& they now make you reunlock all the fkn sights XD! Ah yes...so much great content. You dogs will lap anything up. Still aint anything to spend samples on, still aint a single player experience, still aint any buildcrafting with armor, still aint any stealth mechanics & stealth option, there still isn't a point in levels because levelling up is redundant and pointless bc the game gives you nothing as rewards AND the game is still just jumping from dogshti warbond to dogshit warbond with novelty rubbish.
The addition of using requisition slips to pay for attachments is actually really good, kudos on finding a good way to spend all the req slips I get cuz I ran out of things to spend them on

Honestly, this is now one of my favorite games of all time. It’s what I wanted since I was a kid. A fun 3rd person shooter with chaos around every corner. The customizations are perfect.
The single greatest co op game I’ve ever played. I’m in my 30s now and remember the 90s/2000s days of gaming. This is the dream game 10 year old me would have wanted.
For me it's this game and a game called Empyrion. Empyrion was the game I dreamed of as a kid and I'm 47, but Helldivers 2 is unlike any game I've ever played

Being able to colour coordinate feels very nice. Now we just need armour colouring and I'll be happy, just to match some awkward shades that only go with their base set

@sl4y3r sure, I mean what game doesn't. The game still averages 30k-40k players between big updates, which is pretty damn good especially after a year of mostly minor updates. This update is pretty huge, hopefully we can see double to triple that with a more player retention with the weapon attachment additions and new illuminate types.
@hallojutuhb9071 I want suppressors because if you have low ammo or anything and you have to kill enemies quick it can be hard when other enemies in close location hear and go to investigate and because there isn’t a lot of places to hide in most locations you basically cooked.
To add on in support of suppressors! Suppressors work to reduce a weapons recoil through gas redirection in the device, and with the amount of gas being reduced out the end of the barrel, the muzzle flash is greatly reduced. Both should make it easier to see and stay on target while actively shooting. While realistically there should be little to no reduced muzzle velocity, it would still make sense to balance it by reducing velocity, lowering damage a few points per shot, reducing the range of the weapon by a bit, or any combination of the three. Seems a fair enough trade off to me.
Never stop developing this game, no matter what Reddit says sometimes, just keep going.. I'm in love with Helldivers and you guys did an incredible job within 1 year.

I don’t think many people will appreciate understand the time and complications. This takes up and creates when it comes to thousands and thousands of different animations to make attachments work while trying to fit into the current meta, the glitches and the animations and issues that come along with adding just one thing in the game they had to cook this up and do hundreds, this alone should make you proud of this small dev team
Game design student here, Did my bachelor project working for Bungie fine tuning the weapon swap mechanics for a shooter. I appreciate the effort. It can be…hell.
You're wildly overestimating the amount of effort this takes. The only new animations needed are for weapon classes that didn't already have a variant with a drum mag (if they even implemented those for those weapon classes), everything else is already in. The only 'difficult' part is balancing, and as a game designer I can tell you that swapping variables around and parsing through playtest data and spreadsheets isn't exactly hard work. In reality this system could likely have been implemented by a team of 4 (gameplay programmer, systems designer, 3D modeller, UI artist) and a few QA playtest sessions in less than a month. It's nice of them to implement but it really isn't the herculean task you're making it out to be.
maybe your just exaggerating, but from a animation perspective, its really nothing special. Once you have the system in place, which admittedly would be a lot of work to organize for a game that didnt have it in the first place, it should just be a process of making the game understand where various hand holds are and what hand pose to use. The rest is just animation blending. which is more or less automated. to say there are thousands of animations making up the attachments is kind of like saying there are billions of animations allowing the player character to move in every direction with the legs and body at every different angle. The amount of actual animations is way less. granted, I havent done 3d in a while. Im not too keen on what sorcery animations go through once they are in engine. Though i am always fascinated by the technical side of animation. My guess is that all the animations used in the attachments system were reused from what they already had.
It really doesn’t take as much effort as you think it does and it shouldn’t have taken as long as it did arrowhead just sucks ass at making things in a timely manner because they are dumb as hell remember when they visually changed the breaker mag to match the ammo nerf imagine how much time they wasted on garbage like that which no one will ever notice much less appreciate
This was in game at launch in Helldivers 1. It definitely takes a lot of work but we are getting something a year and a half in that was a core features of the first game, so I thinkt hats why some people are downplaying it, but I wish gamers would just try a little more to be happy and not nitpick everything. I am pretty happy with this and they will expand on it in time. Id rather they start more small and simple than complex and deep with bad balancing or breaking things. They did this right imho. Also like you get gains in them from just xp and don't have to grind samples or be particular good at downing enemies to get an edge on progression.
I really really hope we can customize stratagem weapons/support weapons in the future, id love to put a scope or acog on the railgun Edit stratagem weapons means the support weapons you call in. Thank you sooooooo much! I started playing a few weeks ago abs I find the lack of Primary Weapons upgrade annoying (I played the Liberator in HD1 and I got way too used to that bigger mag), so I definitely support the idea of changing your weapon to make it suit you
Joined the Helldivers about 2 months ago, the amount of content that is continuously being added is just mindblowing, always new stuff to unlock, to play with, and to liberate with. And honestly, it's simply fantastic, thanks a lot Arrowhead!

Weapon customization is all I wanted.....well done. I left Dark Tide because they wouldn't do weapon customization, and never went back, but stuck with HD2 because we knew it was coming. I'm looking forward to you expanding this system over time with new attachments and gizmos. Here's ESPECIALLY hoping for suppressors, which I hope will be coming with a "stealth" focused Warbond in the future. Well done, and thank you for this update!
Darktide kinda had customization with unlockable traits and passive, but I would've liked actual weapon attachments or ones that significantly change the function of the weapon
Exactly, silencers would make it possible to play stealth, there's no reason why that couldn't be possible for some situations. I would like to have a cape/armor that has build in invisibility cloak for like 10-15 seconds with a cooldown ofc.
Thanks guys. Regarding progression, there is this Idea of having a Trophy Wall of some kind where you see for each planet the number of Missions on the highest level you played and finished. This would also add a lot of progression by simply adding a "number goes up"-Feature. This trophy wall shows like in Football the numbers with fancy stars (up to 4 = Silver stars; 5 completions = 1 Golden star; 25 completions = Rold+Red Star etc) all fused with the symbol of the highest level you achived those. The trophy wall should be visible to the people comming to your ship. Gives also some "street cred" to the host.
Nahh, they just only need to give us some Predator like Trophy-wall (perhaps in the entrance hall on right by the strat workshop), with every Trophy coming from a major battle we contributed in, like Malevelon-Creek for example with some bot parts or some head from their "thoughest fighter" .. 🤔

Year ago the devs were looking for weapon concept artist. One requirement was to be familiar with real weapons and have a shooting hobby. I guess these could be result of that
All us weapon nerds are going to eat this up. I speak for everyone when I say adding more options and attachnents to weapon customization will keep us hooked

This game is the first squad shooter I've had fun with in 8 years, since Destiny 2 of all things. Not every update has been perfect, but this is still fun in so many ways

@eightypuff01 to an extent, yes, its more of a niche playstyle but there are definitely mechanics in place and even some equipment that can be used to sneak around the enemy
Finally, we have weapon customisation and something to spend our maxed out requisition slips on. Now we just need more ship upgrades so samples aren't completely useless.
A cool thing to implement would be to use extra samples to enhance mission difficulty and rewards (probably needs a new reward type added though), like for example, you can spend 10 super rare samples to make more heavies spawn and the mission gives you 50 SC as a reward, etc.
Also plasma weapons could do the same being able to split the plasma like a shotgun or focus it to a thin shot for precision shooting or even make it shoot blue super (super) heated plasma that makes targets volatile and explode even more when shooting repeatedly but would cause the weapon to overheat sometimes!
This is great, please consider adding a similar customization system to armours; either by letting us freely swap out the passive effects or some way to add cosmetic customization, at least to the standard armour.
Seeing more detailed, in depth weapon stats is huge. So many games hide base accuracy and range behind a general "accuracy" stat and it's frustrating to try to figure out the differences between them just by "feel".
Can't fucking believe it... I never asked for this, all I wanted was changes in certain weapons and make some enemies tougher to kill. Thank you, thank you thank you thank you! This addition alone will give us so much replayability, no to mention give utility to the requisition points that are always maxed out. This is what other multiplayer dev teams should aspire too

They do have weapon configs so you can have up to 4 pre-sets for each weapon, its not a fully enabled loadout but should help a lot

Adding weapon customization, vehicle skins for older passes, and the entire shop items always available is everything I wanted. Time to get back into the action

Thank you sooooooo much! I started playing a few weeks ago abs I find the lack of Primary Weapons upgrade annoying (I played the Liberator in HD1 and I got way too used to that bigger mag), so I definitely support the idea of changing your weapon to make it suit you
helldivers is one of those games that will never die because the devs just love what they are doing

Joined the Helldivers about 2 months ago, the amount of content that is continuously being added is just mindblowing, always new stuff to unlock, to play with, and to liberate with. And honestly, it's simply fantastic, thanks a lot Arrowhead!

As a player that has been here from the start I can't express how happy this makes my heart. Weapon customization has been the biggest ticket on my and my friends wishlist
Weapon customization is all I wanted.....well done. I left Dark Tide because they wouldn't do weapon customization, and never went back, but stuck with HD2 because we knew it was coming.
I'm looking forward to you expanding this system over time with new attachments and gizmos. Here's ESPECIALLY hoping for suppressors, which I hope will be coming with a "stealth" focused Warbond in the future.

Darktide kinda had customization with unlockable traits and passive, but I would've liked actual weapon attachments or ones that significantly change the function of the weapon

Exactly, silencers would make it possible to play stealth, there's no reason why that couldn't be possible for some situations. I would like to have a cape/armor that has build in invisibility cloak for like 10-15 seconds with a cooldown ofc.

Regarding progression, there is this Idea of having a Trophy Wall of some kind where you see for each planet the number of Missions on the highest level you played and finished. This would also add a lot of progression by simply adding a "number goes up"-Feature.
This trophy wall shows like in Football the numbers with fancy stars (up to 4 = Silver stars; 5 completions = 1 Golden star; 25 completions = Rold+Red Star etc) all fused with the symbol of the highest level you achived those.
The trophy wall should be visible to the people comming to your ship. Gives also some "street cred" to the host.

Nahh, they just only need to give us some Predator like Trophy-wall (perhaps in the entrance hall on right by the strat workshop), with every Trophy coming from a major battle we contributed in, like Malevelon-Creek for example with some bot parts or some head from their "thoughest fighter" .. 🤔
literally the only studio that reads the room and acts accordingly. you guys are a great example for the gaming culture today.
Ehh I wouldn't say that. let's not pretend like HD2 hasn't been plague by decisions that were the exact opposite of 'reading the room' and making entirely questionable changes, if not being outright hostile and mocking the player base.

This weapon customization was clearly driven by somebody actually familiar with shooting. Unlike many other games that just arbitrarily increase or decrease damage with random attachments

Year ago the devs were looking for weapon concept artist. One requirement was to be familiar with real weapons and have a shooting hobby. I guess these could be result of that

Armor customization would be such a welcomed update!! Honestly I was thinking we'd get that before weapon attachments, but happy regardless!!

This game is the first squad shooter I've had fun with in 8 years, since Destiny 2 of all things. Not every update has been perfect, but this is still fun in so many ways

@eightypuff01 to an extent, yes, its more of a niche playstyle but there are definitely mechanics in place and even some equipment that can be used to sneak around the enemy

@eightypuff01 theres a whole sound mechanic in the game. Stalkers and certain other terminids can smell you though so they will always find you
Finally, we have weapon customisation and something to spend our maxed out requisition slips on.
Now we just need more ship upgrades so samples aren't completely useless.
Arrowhead is probably working on some sort of "Research" system that ties in with a future Stratagem Upgrading System that will involve the samples.
We have the DSS at least
One time map buffs would be good.
A cool thing to implement would be to use extra samples to enhance mission difficulty and rewards (probably needs a new reward type added though), like for example, you can spend 10 super rare samples to make more heavies spawn and the mission gives you 50 SC as a reward, etc.

Lasers could have funky lenses that focus them on close range, long range, combine or split beams, or add an incendiary component!
Also plasma weapons could do the same being able to split the plasma like a shotgun or focus it to a thin shot for precision shooting or even make it shoot blue super (super) heated plasma that makes targets volatile and explode even more when shooting repeatedly but would cause the weapon to overheat sometimes!

Or cooling-systems instead of magazine upgrades 🤔

With the warbond coming in 2 days I didn't expect this to come out alongside it, I'll definitely spend the first hour customizing when I get on today
This is great, please consider adding a similar customization system to armours; either by letting us freely swap out the passive effects or some way to add cosmetic customization, at least to the standard armour.
Transmog isn’t coming for armor but the ability to color your armor has been confirmed and is probably shipping next major update if anything.

Seeing more detailed, in depth weapon stats is huge. So many games hide base accuracy and range behind a general "accuracy" stat and it's frustrating to try to figure out the differences between them just by "feel".

Can't fucking believe it... I never asked for this, all I wanted was changes in certain weapons and make some enemies tougher to kill. Thank you, thank you thank you thank you! This addition alone will give us so much replayability, no to mention give utility to the requisition points that are always maxed out. This is what other multiplayer dev teams should aspire too
