Agreed. I too am a huge fan of Suzanne Vega and David Bowie. Of course it helps that the 3 musicians accompanying her were in Bowie's band. I also loved her cover of Lou Reed's Walk On The Wild Side.
Brilliant rendition! I love Suzanne Vega, but LOVE Bowie even more! I sing this song in the shower everyday, along with Ashes to Ashes. I think my Gen Z neighbors know who Bowie is now.
年末にデビッドボウィとビングクロスビーの Little drummer boyを聞いていた。そして、新年になって、この動画に出会えたことに感謝! I used to listen to David Bowie &Bing Crosby 's "Little drummer boy" in the end of the year. This year ,I can find this fantastic tune!! Thanks a lot!!!
It's like showing up at a party and seeing that two groups of friends from different parts of your life are both there, found each other before you got there and are having the best time...and it makes you remember why you thought they were all awesome to begin with. One of my favorite Bowie songs performed by one of my favorite female musicians and one of the best band lineups he put together...and the orchestration has some great things going on in there too. Bravo!!!
I really like the way she characterises the voices in this song, keeping the mystery of it but introducing an element of mischievous glee I don't hear in the original. It was the habit of the composer to reimagine his own songs, thus keeping them fresh across decades. I've no idea how he felt about covers he'd heard but I think he would have respected this highly polished version of his tireless and timeless classic.
God damn this is good.... awwww Gail Ann, Gerry, Sterling you can’t know how unbelievably moving it is to see you all.... tears of complex emotion........ enjoyed this... but I’m sad too.... Suzanne what an awesome interpretation. Thank You all and the orchestra. I want to see wonderful Mike Garson now.... happy 75th birthday David. ⚡️💚
Este video es una joya , muy buena interpretación por parte de Vega. Hace cuatro años tuve la oportunidad de presenciar a estos grandes músicos en CDMX; sin duda alguna maravillosos . . . ⚡️
Wow...this is my first time hearing this... Not a bad cover.... Does David and Kurt's song justice in the way it's different and yet the same. Awesome.
I HOPE THE FINE BAND DAVID BOWIE HAD CAN STAY INTACT TO KEEP PLAYING GREAT SONGS LIKE THIS.. THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL EVENT AND GREAT PRODUCTION BY ORCHESTRA WITH DAVID BOWIE BAND MEMBERS. THIS IS A FINE VERSION OF BOWIE SONG...
They were out together again this summer. Saw them in my hometown. Came to see Gerry almost as much as Vega. The final encore was Lou Reed's Walk On The Wild Side. It was great, but now I wish they'd played Man Who Sold The World. It would have made so much sense!
Моя любимая песня в оранжировке оркестра- потрясающе!!!! Богатое, красивое звучание. Возможно, я хотела бы иметь просто запись этой мелодии в исполнении оркестра. Конечно, и женский вокал прекрасен!
Great band of Bowie together with orchestra is beautiful....excellent work on this song..!....love their sounds...with such precision They are PRO for sure. They are awesome. what happens now with the Bowie band....do they stay together and find another singer? Wish someone good comes along to continue the fine work of the Bowie musicians. LOVE THIS COVER WITH BOWIE BAND..
We passed upon the stair We spoke of was and when Although I wasn't there He said I was his friend Which came as a surprise I spoke into his eyes I thought you died alone A long long time ago Oh no, not me We never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world I laughed and shook hand And made my way back home I searched for form and land For years and years I roamed I gazed a gazeless stare We walked a million hills I must have died alone A long, long time ago Who knows? Not me I never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world Who knows? Not me We never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world Thanks, that was a David Bowie song What's next? I didn't screw it up, did I? Okay, but here's another one I could screw up What is it? Am I gonna do this by myself? Yeah, he should do it by himself Do it by yourself Okay, well I think I'll try it in a different key, I'll try it in a normal key Yeah If it sounds bad, these people are just gonna have to wait Do you have a smoke? Okay
Ground control to Major Tom: Can you watch this, Major Tom? The papers want to know how you feel about this. Everyone seems to think of you, performing your music. We miss you, Major Tom.
Orchestral rearrangements can often be overblown but Vega reins it in here with her pragmatic approach. In no small way aided by the back to basics guitar of Gail Anne Dorsey and Gerry Leonard. A deferent interpretation laying orchestral laurels at the feet of the untamed original which serves rather than stifles it's uncanny nature.
I LOVE Vega's gestures during this. They add a warmth depth, as does the orchestra.
My favourite cover David Bowie beautiful Suzanne vega version is brilliant nice wow 😊✨️💯🎤⭐️💛🌲🌟🌲
I like this way more than I expected to. it's a very pleasant surprise.
I've been a Suzanne Vega fan for many years and a Bowie fan for longer.
Agreed. I too am a huge fan of Suzanne Vega and David Bowie. Of course it helps that the 3 musicians accompanying her were in Bowie's band. I also loved her cover of Lou Reed's Walk On The Wild Side.
much better than expected. but still only a Bowie fan, not Vega.
I used to get so annoyed that many people thought that Nirvana wrote this song. Great version!
Nirvana, you said? With all due respect...
But nirvana has the best version… period…
@@heavymetal1330I honestly HATE their version.
@@m.scottmcgahan9900 👍🏻
@@heavymetal1330 your opinion.
Stumbled on this. Ms. Vega’s voice is so iconic. Great cover.
This is just amazing!!!! Seeing Gail Ann Dorsey, Gerry Leonard and Sterling Campbell again was the best..Just wish they would have shown them more!!!
another brilliant version ! Her voice is perfect for the song....gives it another twist.
Brilliant rendition! I love Suzanne Vega, but LOVE Bowie even more! I sing this song in the shower everyday, along with Ashes to Ashes. I think my Gen Z neighbors know who Bowie is now.
I wish I could be your neighbor!
Ashes to ashes. What a song!
This is amazing. The music is so rich and the song is rendered with so much grace. Bravo.
David was great. So good to see ppl still singing his songs. Wonderful.
omg i love her voice so much i can't believe it
Wow, what an exceptional performance!

Great version, Bowie was a genius, thankfully his catalogue of work will live on forever and inspire the young of many more generations.
David Bowie, Suzanne Vega deux immenses artistes
Thank you for posting, I cried, it’s beautiful. Exactly what I needed this morning. Loved it.
Superb version. When I met Vega in Cambridge, 2017, we chatted about Bowie and how some members of his band had backed her, too.
Great stuff. Really enjoyed it
Oh my this was massive hit back then amazing video perfect track luv this perfect 💯🥰🌟🎼
MERCI ! To all the musicians on this play . That 's brillant and aslo so kind . Merci encore, quelle élégance !

Light Flanger on voice and a guinza to a great tribute to David Bowie, and a elegant orquestral arrange, beatiful.

BRAVO STUNNING PERFORMANCE BUY ALL HAD ME FROM THE FIRST NOTE NO WORDS
Maravilloso !! Gail !!!!
simply beautiful
Aww, the lovely Suzanne Vega. Incredible that David was only 19 when he composed this.
I think you will find he was 28 y/o when he released this song. Born in 1947, song released in 75, super song...
@@mikenewman8267 recorded and released in 1970 (on the album of the same name)
Released on the album of the same name, Bowie was 23 at the time.
I had the Bowie album of the same name in 1970
Just perfect
Great to hear Suzanne sing this classic and did it credit .xx
She did
Es increible esto
che bella versione ricca di un arrangiamento stupendo
God damn this is good....

I'm a little late to this, but I'm so happy she's still thriving and doing great things!
That is bloody awesome!
I've posted every single song you've collected in this "mix" over the years, without ever finding your "mix" until tonight. Well done!...
Wow brilliant
Those musicians!!!
Sterling you are big, bro!!!!
Great cover!
Thank Junior 💕

Great song I loved from the70's
excellent,she sings this very well
Piękne wykonanie z orkiestrą. Głos niebiański... Brawo po 100kroć.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I’m going to find some Suzanne Vega CDs. She’s great!
Love it! The string arrangement is quite reminiscent of Visconti's work
I saw Gerry Leonard on tour with her a couple of years ago in London. It was great.
They were out together again this summer. Saw them in my hometown. Came to see Gerry almost as much as Vega. The final encore was Lou Reed's Walk On The Wild Side. It was great, but now I wish they'd played Man Who Sold The World. It would have made so much sense!

Thank you suzanne, Briljant!!
Epic. Saya sangat terharu mendengarkan mahakaryanya yang sangat indah ini,
One of his most msterious songs. Lulu's hit was also rather good with Bowie on sax and production.
Simplemente excelente,👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Super❤
That's class.
Love it 👍👏👏
Wow! Suzanne Vega is the best!
❤❤❤

Okay
01:26 Very nice!
I don't know why but when I listen to this version. It makes me think of what a great version Marianne Faithfull would have made of this song.
Very good, were there any more bowie cover songs with his band??
Thought I'd take a Luka at this. I'm sold on it!
I love her voice! Would also fit for a James Bond movie theme song.
Wahou!🌟⭐
A historic event - the face-masked orchestra apart from anything else!
😄😄 я не заметила, так захватила меня красота исполнения!

Was really great hear Suzanne again, but i think that she dont need too much musicians
Нужно, непременно.
❤❤❤❤ I absolutely love this cover, I’m sure David Bowie approves. Was it ever released as a Single or Track on an Album? If NOT it should have been 🎉
How is that not viral
Love you susy
Wow
Am sure that Mr Jones would have enjoyed and approve
