I would be surprised if Tyler Owens doesn't make the roster. Wiley on offense is a better candidate than Rodriguez if Robinson gets hurt during the season and we need an all around back to take carries. Ekeler at 29/30 isn't an everydown back any longer.
I hate that not playing the starters in the last game. These guys were 4-13 last year none of them deserve to not play. We aren’t good enough to do that yet. Idk why the coaches think it’s a good idea. Preseason is to get the players ready for the regular season. They already have to wait another week just to play.
It's not really the same guys from last year. Almost an entire new team. Playing your second and third string shows you who your ballers are and makes the last 25 cuts a lot easier.
I think its less "not playing starters" and more giving the other guys a chance to put stuff on film and possibly fight for a roster spot. Preseason is all about getting the roster set moreso than anything else because all of the practicing and games are with guys and against guys who a third of which won't be here when the season starts.
